The local sports show I'm listening to just had some national college hoops expert on and when asked who he thought was the best team in the country he said Purdue. Can't wait until the Terps smack them around on February 6th at College Park.
Oh, Jesus........ Purdue by 50
You need to get some confidence in our boyz. There's nothing wrong with expecting them to win.

Remember the last time you predicted an ###-kicking? They almost lost to Catonsville CC

To be fair, CCC was lights out from 3 on that day. And Catonsville rules.

Bo Ryan announcing his retirement on BTN right now.
Great coach.
Interesting take -

Dylan Burkhardt @umhoops

Gut reaction: This was the only way that Bo Ryan could buy Greg Gard at least a shot as interim head coach. Loyal guy.
This is spot on. Sad day in Badgerland but you could tell something was off with Bo this season. He seems to have aged quite a bit this season and I don't think he just has the energy to go through a rebuild mode. Thanks for the memories Bo.
100%. He's doing what he can for Gardo. Rumors are that is why he reversed his initial retirement, Barry wasn't gonna hand the job to Gard. So now he gets to audition for the full time gig, problem is he has no name value and is left with a team with very little experience in a tough conference. I understand what Bo is trying to do, but Gard isn't really set up for success in this situation.

Agreed. I used to live on College Ave right off of Wilkins

What's the story with Ohio State? They've lost 4 in a row. Are they not going to be good this year?
Playing with zero seniors and one junior. There is a walk on senior on the roster, but he never plays.

They've got talent, but the turnovers are killing them. They'll get better with experience.
Looks like they picked up some experience pretty quick. Buckeyes can play... but they are still learning. Next year should be a lot of fun with everyone coming back.

If you're ever back in the area, I'm like 2 miles away from there. Catonsville for ever! Or at least until my kids get the #### out of my house so I can move to the Keys.

Wow. How about those Buckeyes?!?! Watched most of the 2nd half, and they just wouldn't fold down the stretch. One thing in particular I noticed was they outhustled Kentucky for loose balls. Very impressed.

Terps looked very good against a decent Princeton team. Cupcake Jake was on fire, and leading the very effective press defense when the Terps went to a small lineup (although I did see one instance of just embarrassingly bad defense by Jake in the second half). If he can find a way to play that well against top-25 competition, the Terps would look like a legit Final Four team. What else I saw...

* Melo and Sulaimon looked pretty good as usual. Sulaimon did have a couple ugly turnovers in the second half running the point, but they had a 20 point lead with five minutes left, so maybe he was simply playing too casual.

* Diamond Stone continues to struggle a bit on defense, but reinforced my opinion that he has elite big-man skills on offense. Soft hands and a great touch.

* Brantley was amazing. Granted, the Terps had a big lead and under 10 minutes to play, but all of a sudden, for seven minutes he couldn't miss, he was knifing through the lane like Melo, and playing defense.

Finally, I just have to say, if I haven't already, the Big Ten Network is so, so, so much better than Raycom. Long live the B1G!

Was impressed as well. Didn't think this team had it in them. Great win.

Brantley scored more points yesterday than he has in aggregate all season. They don't need much from him, but something even close to yesterday every once in a while would be a huge help.

Sulaimon and Carter are the rocks. Those two do so many things well, even when they're not scoring.

Glad to get that win over an always tough Oakland team on the road. Ridiculously reffed game on both ends. Harris, Forbes, Costello, Davis, everybody stepped up when needed tonight.

62 fouls, 90 free throws. 2.5 hour game before OT. Just brutal to watch.

Of course..so predictable ..charge on Oaklands Felder
toolboy at it again tonight on his twitter. So bitter.... :lmao: Maybe he'll finally get that Indy job he's wanted to badly since Crean is the suck.
Will always love Dan for locking up MJ back in the 80's to beat UNC. But do not hire this guy at IU.

I would be completely shocked if Dakich was offered a coaching job again in any major conference.

Back story on Dakich? I barely remember him as a player and only really know him as a blow-hard on ESPN.

He was a bench/role player for IU, lots of screens, picks, bounce passes, etc. Probably took all kinds of crap from Knight in practices. In the Sweet 16 against 1 seed UNC he got the start and was told to guard Michael Jordan. Jordan had a bad game, fouled out. IU pulls off the upset in a game they had no business winning. Just one of the many Bob Knight legendary moves.

I was a little kid living in Bloomington at the time and Dakich was the man for that game.

He coached for awhile and was OK at Bowling Green. IIRC he took over as the Hoosiers interim HC after Kelvin Sampson got canned.

Sums it up; also a blow-hard on Indianapolis sports talk radio.

A big win tonight for Iowa over Michigan State. Granted Michigan State didn't have Valentine, still a big win.
State couldn't hit the broadside of a barn last night and everything was going in for Iowa. Long week (Izzo's dad passing away) , long road trip. Lots of pent-up anger and bigtime revenge factor I'd imagine for Iowa also after that loss in the B1G Championship. It'll be a much different story in a couple weeks at the Bres.

The Iowa students are taking heat for storming the court as though they'd won a championship. Judging from that and my Twitter timeline last night, it seems lots of folks weren't aware that Iowa was favored.

Old people always get so upset about students storming the court (not saying you, but the people complaining). They are kids. Its fun. I don't see the big deal.

Purdue is the first team to beat Wisconsin 4 times in the Kohl center.

Didn't even play that great of a game. Wisconsin only turned it over 7 times to Purdue's 16. Will be nice to see the Boilers play a full game for once. Still think lack of a good PG is going to hurt them against the better teams.

Fantastic comeback win by Maryland! On a day when Trimble was shooting horribly, Diamond Stone scored 39. Coming out party maybe?

Go Terps!
I think I read that Trimble, Sulaimon, Carter, and - shocker of shockers, since PSU had athletic bruisers who were good players - Layman shot something like 9-36.

Stone made 19 FTs. Penn State shot a total of 16.

Maryland came out and hit 2 quick 3s to start the game, and it seemed like they settled for them the rest of the half.

PSU was out-hustling Maryland - every time I looked up, that damned #10 for Penn State was making a play against bigger MD players. They're gonna be a PITA for the better B1G teams to play.

Where the hell has Cek gone?

Wasn't paying too close attention yesterday, but a win is a win, I guess. Stone is a force of nature on offense.

I think Maryland tries to play outside-then-in too much, instead of playing inside-then-out using Stone & Carter to open things up outside. Yesterday was a prime example with them getting jump-shot happy because they made a couple of early outside shots. Very few teams I've seen this year have as skilled an inside tandem as Carter & Stone. Start out pounding the ball inside to them and the outside shots will come.

At least Trimble was taking uncontested long shots - he was just off. I don't know what the hell Sulaimon was thinking. He was taking 19 foot, contested jumpers. Layman, after one early drive where someone laid a body on him, stood out by the 3 point line changing his tampons.

Well, no Caris LeVert (hope his injury isn't serious), and I don't think Michigan can play better than that. Up by 21 on Penn State at half. M is shooting the lights out.

Wow - Iowa is 2-0 with wins over Purdue and MSU. Pretty impressive.
I have to admit I didn't think Iowa would be this good this year. I thought they would have an up and down season. They are exceeding my expectations so far. The Hawkeyes almost knocked off Iowa State a couple of weeks back also.

Good game by the Terps tonight. Backcourt was very good, Stone and Carter looked good, even Layman showed up.
