Big Ten Basketball 2022/2023 - Return to Power (3 Viewers)

Should be a good one tonight. Curious to see what rotation and lineups Turgeon uses.

Apparently, Cekovsky was sick this week, which was why he got zero minutes against Northwestern instead of his usual three.

The thing about the Terps is that even when they should have lost, they've found a way to win. Even their 2 losses were close despite a ####load of turnovers and strong play from the other team.

Hoosiers playing great again. They have really had an easy opening B10 schedule so it's hard to tell what's up.

I may be wrong but it seems like Crean isn't changing his lineup as much right now. In the past he used to drive me crazy by constantly shuffling his lineup during the game.

Really like this OG Freshman. Bielfeldt is a great add. Zeisloft has been on fire pretty much every game I've had a chance to watch.

Exactly the thing State hasn't done.

Not too confident in a win again tonight, especially sporting the day-glo green uni's brought to you by Lemon-Lime Kool-Aid

Rich & JD, Stone is gone after this season isn't he? Melo going, too?
I'd say Melo is 90% likely to go, Stone maybe 75%. Carter will almost certainly stick around. If Melo and Stone both leave, next year should still be good, but not great. Wiley, Nickens, Carter, Dodd, Cekovsky, Brantley, Bender, Anthony Cowan, plus probably one more freshman and a likely grad transfer. Figure Cowan, Wiley, Nickens, Carter, and Dodd as the starters.

Of course, a lot can change on their NBA stock between now and draft declaration time.

Stone at only 75%? Wow. I think it's a done deal.

Getting Dion Wiley back will be huge. I think losing him this year may cost them a title, since Nickens & Brantley have both sucked.

Can we start a crowdfund to get Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to give Dodd just a COUPLE of lessons on how to score down low? I'm in for $100

I really thought this was the year for Northwestern. Looking more and more unlikely, though. They are basically down to three more chances to really impress: 1/28 home vs. Michigan St, 1/31 at Iowa, 2/16 at Purdue. Lose all of those, and they'd have to run the rest of the table just to get to 10-8.

Another decent win for us. I don't think this year's team is a world-beater, but most of our losses are "good" losses (Xavier, SMU, UConn, Purdue, Iowa). I don't think there is any dominant teams this year.

This should make for a VERY fun, interesting tourney in March.

I'd say both near 100% gone. But that's fine. I think Turg is getting plugged into the recruiting circuit and will start cranking out top 10 classes on a regular basis. If he can tap into the local talent on a regular basis, he'll be 75% of the way there.

Real nice road win. The key for UM is Caris. If he comes back healthy and can gel with the team, than they might have a run in them.

Rebounding is becoming a serious concern. Had a chance at the ball down three, and gave up yet another offensive rebound to let MSU ice it.

I'm also a bit concerned that the Terps don't seem to be able to get to the line like last year.

Defense is fine, shooting is fine.

Thursday is a huge game for Maryland, more or less a must-win hosting Iowa, if they hope to win the B1G regular season title or get a #1 seed in the tourney.

Is Iowa the team with that ####### who pokes people in the eye? If so, I hope Turgeon has Ram grow his nails to raptor-length for retaliation.

On reflection, I'm not as angry with the Terps as I was last night. They went into a hell-pit against a surly bunch. Maryland didn't play well, but they played.

Iowa won against Purdue today!!! Another big game coming up against Maryland.

A very tough schedule for Iowa to start the Big Ten season. Michigan State twice, Michigan, Purdue twice, and Maryland.

That's him. It will have to be Bender or Cekovsky, though. Ram wouldn't be able to reach his eyes.

It cracks me up when people keep bringing up Woodbury and his "eye pokes". Its happened a couple of times and people act like he does it all game long.

He's the dirtiest player in the league.

Ugh, dan dakich doing the iowa game thursday. i'm not a fan of games he does. Glad the game is on espn though (heard it got "flexed" from espnu, if that's even a thing in college basketball).

Yea Indiana and Iowa are both 7-0 but Indiana hasn't played anywhere near the schedule Iowa has. Iowa is impressive.

Congrats to Iowa, they are tough to handle.

Purdue has to figure out the right combination at guard. Too much defense leaves a liability from perimeter. Swanigan is a beast but he's taking too many ill advised shots and turns it over too much. If he can get settled in during the second half it should have a big impact. I'm still confident they can make a run during the BT tourney or in the NCAA.

If I remember right the games I watched him play against IU he acted a bit off in both. In the middle of some weird things.

 at "only happening a couple of times".

Enjoy that a$$ hole. God he suks

The thing that would make it even a better treat is for TV Teddy to officiate the game.

Kinda fun listening to him cover Michigan games . . .

"Dakich in the game! Gives an intentional foul, and back to the bench. Good job, son"

He mentions his son "plays" for Michigan during every broadcast he does, sometime multiple times. Doosh.

Big win for the Badgers. Will be interesting to see how IU does with the tougher part of their schedule.
Yep, big win. Happ was really impressive last night against Thomas Bryant. Bryant was getting all the pub early on in the game, but Happ really took it to him. Bryant had no answer. If Happ ever develops a 15 footer, he's going to be unstoppable.

I'd be curious to know who the Indiana staffer was that was trash talking Nigel Hayes. Why would you do that?

Also, Tom Crean drives me crazy. He's on the court and stopping play more than any coach I've ever seen. Not sure how he gets away with it.

Why "plays" in quotes?

Last draft rankings I saw had Stone at 10, and Melo at 16. If he continues to improve, you guys are right that the 75% figure is probably too low.

Anyway, I forgot a player on next year's team, Kevin Huerter, a 4-star SG. So, assuming Melo and Stone both go pro, the rotation would be:

PG: Cowan, Brantley

2 Wings: Wiley, Nickens, Huerter

PF: Carter, Bender

C: Dodd, Cekovsky

Plus a grad transfer, most likely.
