Big ups to Winslow Jr (1 Viewer)

Dont know about the rest of you, but as of now, KWJr is the #1 TE in my league. Leads all NFL TEs in catches. 2 TDS in 4 games. Not too bad. Yet no one is hyping him or talking about him.

FBGs gets slammed a lot on the boards for hyping a guy that doens't pan out as value (*cough*Watson*cough*), but Winslow was a guy they told you to target late because everyone was overlooking him and he would represent value.

I'd say they were 100% right thus far.

Thanks guys.

Watching CLE games, he is the key cog in their passing game. If his knee holds up, he is going to be a stud the rest of the way.

What makes Winslow an even better pick, is that a lot of the top drafted TEs, Gates, Shockey, aren't putting up the #s, while guys like LJ and Winslow are tearing it up.

If you don't own the guy, it might be too late to get him in a value trade, but oddly enough, maybe not. Winslow has been pretty steady in his ppg, so its not like he has one HUGE game a la Santana Moss that is sticking out in his owners mind. I think you could still dangle a name TE like Gonzo in a package trade and be able to grab him.

You wonder how he is going it with the knee injury. Wonder if defenses are going to start treating him special soon? Like a Gates or Gonzo gets more secondary coverage.

Good point re: coverage. However, what KWj has going for him that Gates & Gonzo don't, is a guy like Edwards on the outside to draw coverage. Gates & Gonzo can be gameplanned around bc there are no threats on the outside.I'd say he is in a similar situation as his fellow U boy Shockey, a physiclaly talented TE that a defense can't totally gameplan around bc of the talent at WR.I will say that the knee worries me. But if he misses practice & I have to deal with the injury report all week, so be it.In the words of AI: "We talkin' bout practice." :D

Same with red zone... as you Jure and his height/leap to worry about, but at the same time take away.... but KWj has separation that Jure doesn't have.

Great values? Winslow, Maroney, JJones, LA Coles, Andre Johnson, McNabb, and Ravens D. Those are the players that jump out at me so far.

The problem is every week you are afraid that Frye finally will take the hit that puts him on IR, killing K2's value.

Agreed, BGP. By the way, I hope you don't mind that I stole your sig line in the Worldwide Rants forum of theobr.com (easily the best Browns site on the net).

I hate that Carthon uses KWII more of an H-back similar to the way Washington uses Mike Sellers (with a little more targets). I wish they would stretch the field though as KWII has the speed to make some big plays. You'll see the occasional 50+ yard TD with Gates (and Gonzalez in the old days) but the way KWII is used, it's more of the 5-10 yard dump offs with another few yards after the catch.

As long as he has retired from the extreme failed curb-jumping motorcycle team, I think he will be okay. I hope Frye hangs in there.

You needed FBG to tell you that it might be a good idea to take a late flier on this guy?Seriously?

I dont' think tomm "needed" anything. He was pointing out I kept talking about him all Summer in the Daily Email Updates. :shrug:J

Exactly. As a guy living in LA who has very limited access (and very little desire to read) local Cleveland media, it was very easy to write off KWJr as a wasted talent who would never do anything. And I clearly wasn't alone in this viewpoint as there was a reason he lasted so late in almost all drafts. So it was nice to have FBG constantly bringing up how he looks good, knees seem ok, keep an eye on him, mos people have written him off, etc. Sometimes its handy to have that constant buzzing in your ear to remind you about a player like that is all.

I projected him to be a top 3 TE this year in the projections thread for him and all people starting talking about was my man love for him.

Oh well...

I drafted him and Watson. After week 1 I thought he was a sell high behind that Offensive line and Frye. I had Watson so I shopped him around. Someone desperate for a TE traded me Santana Moss for him which I thought was a steal. Well you know how Watson has turned out. Still not a bad trade for me but not as good as it originally looked. Now I need am looking for a TE.

The thing with Winslow is he catches almost everything thrown his way. He has caught 80% of his targets so far. Which is just phenomenal especially considering a young QB is throwing to him.

That is something that went into my projections for him. His QB and him had built a rapport/chemistry with him and of course his talent level. When I looked at who else was there on the team (Braylon hurt, JJ new to team) I thought he had the potential to be a top guy. So far so good, let's see if he can keep it going...

couldnt believe it when i took him as the last te drafted in the 12 round, talk about value- people were hopping on gates in the 4th, couldnt believe that either
