This is why road rage happens, and why neighbors get shot over a stupid argument. Any little slight gives me justification to respond tenfold. This is a minor example but the principle holds. Yes, the player should not have made physical contact, but it was a tap for crissakes. Calling it assault is hysterical. In a moment like that, people show their true character. Look how quick they are to anger, and cursing, and obscene gestures. Behaving like that in public with barely any provocation says ghetto trash to me.

Barely a shove. And just because you're entitled to taunt doesn't mean you're not a doosh when you do it.

Was going to say the player was dooshier but it is like 3/10 on the doosh scale. Just a frustration push, not that angry.

But then after seeing the fan and his gf react afterwards, it's definitely them.

And keep in mind, being a duuucheeee and responding in an illegal manner are different.

If someone is a D_bag to me for an hour straight I might just smack them. I did something illegal, but they are the duuche

And, BTW, the finger came after the shove.

In almost all circumstances, the player has to be the professional and walk away.
I actually agree with this. Admas needs to remember he represents an organization and a sport, not just himself.
Did he not just walk away? I must have missed something. He gave a small push, walked away, and then did a CYA PR move when asked about it later

The fan is ALWAYS the bigger Duuuchee when they instigate crap, always.
by instigate do you mean catching a ball in foul territory? Wasn't really a shove but Adams has no business laying a glove on a fan like that.
If the fan didnt instigate something, then he didnt instigate something.

I dont even know what happened in this particular case, but it doesnt matter. I stand firm, when a fan instigates, then they are teh bigger d-bag

I didn't see anything doosh worthy until the middle finger of the fan's exposed hand went up.

The fan.

I don't think you get to shove a guy and not get any sort of reaction.

Player = total doosh. Wonder if he's still mad about the WS last year.

Tee hee.

Ok, finally watch the video.

WOW, how in the world could anyone think the PLAYER did anything wrong there? He dove in, while backing up from a pretty odd position stuck his glove out and barely tapped the guy with his mit.

There is ZERO duuchhhery by the player. The fan was a D-bag in the first place for not getting out of the way and instead interfering, then afterwards with the gestures. If they exchanged words with each other so be it, a D-bag will start making obvious hand gestures.

on to the post game interview............

Ummmmmmmmmmmmmm, he pretty much explained what happend. LIkely not even realizing his mit barely brushed up into the guy as he was backing away while on his stomach.

jesus, there are humans out there with the bain power to type that think this player did something wrong??

Or I just don't know the definition of "shove". Seemed more like a half-tap

Why should the fan get out of the way?

Why should the fan get out of the way?
:nerd: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd:

It's kind of common sense anyway. If you DO plan to interfere with the play, you shoudl probably expect the player to be rather pissed about it, so flicking him off afterwards wins you the D-bag award pretty handily.

What is this a sewing club? It's sports, play on. No one was hurt the shove was more like a tap and when did we get so sensitive about an obnoxious fan?

That was no bro shove. The player was pissed that the fan prevented him from catching the ball. Player = bigger doosh.

Neither is a doosh (based solely on the actions of those 15 seconds).

Adams giving the fan that love tap was unnecessary, and the fan flipping Adams the bird was pretty classless, but neither action makes that person a doosh.

However, if the fan really did recently have knee surgery, and wasn't just making that up, jumping up for that foul ball like that was pretty dumb since he easily could have collided with a player going after the ball and he could have hurt his rehab. Not very smart.

Red neck fan catches ball does not reach into field so he's good, bringing glove to game a bit questionable but whatever.

Fatty Matt Adams gets upset because he dove for the ball and really he doesn't like having to move that much especially for what turns out to be no reason.

Player in the wrong.

Best part to me is Adams reasoning that he was keeping himself from falling so he had to push off the guy.

I've watched a few times but haven't seen where the shove happens. Did he shove/push with his shoulder or his glove? Initial impression is its a non-story.
This was my take as well after hearing about this for 24 hours and just now watching the video.

Easy one, dude gives the finger in front of little kids. He and his gf look like white trash.
"See, son...giving someone 'the bird' is a terrible, terrible thing to do. But assaulting a random citizen is just fine."
Hopefully the player will take care of the medical bills.
So it was okay since no medical attention was required. Got it.
No medical attention that we know of. Internal injuries can take days to present themselves.

I'm not sure if it's been mentioned yet, but if you're an adult male, you shouldn't be bringing your own glove to a MLB game and that automatically qualifies you as a d00sh no matter what.

Any grown man that brings his glove to a game is a doosh
Maybe if you sit in the upper deck in the outfield. Sit in the second row behind the dugout or a bit farther down the line with your little kids on either side of you. You'll wish you had a glove if they take a shot in the face.

I took it as a bro-shove. The fan should have been honored to get a bro-shove from a professional athlete, opposing team or not. The taunting and finger flipping afterwards were total bush-league, and frankly, lowbrow.

Fan = bigger doosh
It wasn't a "bro-shove" it was intentional, albeit very minor and hardly worth mentioning. The player said some BS about how he was keeping himself from falling back into the stands when asked after the game. Pretty much what he has to say to avoid any possible problem with MLB.

Player is in the wrong here because fan did nothing wrong.

The fans reaction afterwards was a bit much but all initiated by the player.

Same here. The player seems like kind of a doosh in the interview but overwhelmingly so. The guy catching the ball was totally within his right and space. Go Reds!

This. I'm still amazed nobody has been killed by a baseball the way that little girl was killed by the hockey puck in Columbus, which was a tragedy and sick, sad story, by the way. Birthday girl.

Also, Jim Rice carrying the little kid to safety will make you think again about bringing a glove when you sit in the first row or even six down the lines in box seats.

eta* I don't bring gloves, so this is nothing really personal. Just an observation. Rob Neyer has made it many times.

First time I've seen the video. Come on, he barely touched the guy. It looked like he was just righting himself. The way I heard it, I thought Adams shoved the guy.
