I completely agree with Ghost and others -- a choke is when you fail something you'd normally succeed in due to the pressure of the moment.

Norwood had never, ever, in his career made a kick 47+ yards on grass.

Bri, you would have to agree that it is obvious that Norwood was not good at longer kicks
With just enough time for a final drive, Levy tells Kelly he's gotta get them to the 30 yard line. Kelly got them there, to the 30 yard line. When watching a game, the kick is expected at that point IMO.That's not a 55 or 60 yarder, it's not that long.In fact it's the direction of the kick that was "off" it had plenty of distance.
When the Bills got the ball on their own 10 yard line with 2:16 left on the clock, Kelly felt that he could get the job done. He had done it so many times before. Coming from behind late in the game had become on of Kelly's trademarks. "We knew that we had one timeout left. We came out and I told the guys, ‘Hey, this is what champions are made of. Let's play like it - let's be one!'" "I had to run the ball a couple times and I didn't want to, but our goal was to get to the 30. We got there and it wasn't meant to be (winning).
Explain why Norwood had never made a 47 yard FG on grass before? If he hadn't done it how is it possible that it was a choke? BTW, to get the 47 yard FG, Thurman Thomas ran for asomething like 20 yards for the final play before the kick. That run couldn;t have been any better for the Bills, which is why it was a dumb call IMO. yes, it gave them a chance as it worked out, but the odds of getting that many yards before the kick was slim so it was a little lucky.

I would love to see a legitimate reason for why anyone is voting for Scott Norwood.
Is it you or Grove that's a Bills fan? That kick ended Norwood's career. He never really came back from it. How would you explain that dramatic affect?
Your logic is off here? Here was a guy who NEVER had kicked a successful 47 + FG on grass in his career. Right there you would have to say the odds were in the Giants favor. However, instead of choking, Norwood kicked a great ball with about as much power as he ever had; he just happened to push it a little right. A choke MIGHT have been if he squibbed it or missed by a long shot; he hit it VERY well, he was just wide right. I don't know exactly how wide right he was, but I wonder if he could have made it with college posts?I am sorry to be so harsh, but anyone who says that norwood choked doesn't understand what a choke is.

Kelly should be running away with this.
I picked him. Losing the Superbowl for 4 straight years is a talent in itself.
Damn, I didn't realize that Kelly lost those games all by himself, because allowing 139 points in 4 Super Bowls (almost 35 points a game) is always the QB's fault. :lmao:
I'm pretty sure that the original point being made here is that if it was Manning who lost the 4 SB's everyone would certainly have found a way to blame him even if the D gave up 50 points a game.Bettis is an odd choice. Since it didn't ultimately affect the outcome of the game, I'm not sure how it could qualify as "the biggest choke in NFL history".There are many solid choices on the list, but I chose Kasay's kick out of bounds. With the game tied and 1:08 on the clock...Kasay basically handed the win to NE with that kick. I'm curious about how often a kickoff actually goes out of bounds. I know it doesn't happen very often, so for it to happen in this situation is what I would consider "the biggest choke".

While we're making additions, let's add Rahim Moore allowing Jacoby Jones to make the catch that ultimately propelled Baltimore to the 2013 AFCCG and Super Bowl. May as well include Champ Bailey from that game, too.
