BJGE this week vs Jets. both FBG's rank fairly low (1 Viewer)

Both FBG staffers not only rank him low (as a RB3/flex play) but also say that he is gonna get about half of the carries that he has last time these teams played in week 5 when BJGE ran all over the Jets. Why so different this time around? It is @ NYJ but the pats have always been a pretty good road team. Bill B is known to lean on matchups, and this Jets D is much stronger vs the pass than the run. (cbs has th jets D rated 5th best 208 y/g and 21st vs the run 123 y/g.)

what say you?

News: New England RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis finished Wednesday on the injury report once again heading into Week 10 at the Jets. Green-Ellis' nagging toe injury, which he has played through, continues to keep him limited in participation in practice as the Patriots prepare for the Jets, a team that is allowing the fifth-fewest Fantasy points per game to opposing running backs on the season. Green-Ellis rushed 12 times for 52 yards in Week 9 against the Giants and added an 11-yard reception.Analysis: Green-Ellis hasn't scored a rushing touchdown since Week 5 when he had two against the Jets to go with 27 carries and 136 yards. The Jets have been solid against the run, except in that game. Green-Ellis should not be hindered by the toe come game day so Fantasy owners should continue to start him in most formats. His best game of the season came Week 5 against the Jets so you want him active for the rematch.
Currently debating him vs Benson/battle/j.stewart/deangelo but my gut says that he's the play...

I'm surprised by that as well. IMO, Pats NEED to run the rock at least 25 times if they want to win this game. Brady & company have not looked good in weeks (relatively speaking). Pound the rock & win, which is what I think BB does this week; Brady isn't gonna light up this Jets defense, especially given his play of late.

I dont know the numbers but the Jets played 7 DBs a stupidly high number of times the last time they played and dared the Pats to run, which they did. With how bogged down the passing game for the Pats has looked the last few weeks, I dont see the Jets going 7 DB that many times again. Other than the LawFirm and McFadden they have been pretty solid against the run, obviously MacFadden when healthy can burn any run d in the league.

The last two times the Pats came to the Jets house, they scored a combined 23 points. BJGE had 10-19 vs. the Jets last year. The Pats offense has looked mortal the last three weeks (since the Jets game ironically). Jets defense was extremely strong against Buffalo last week, and the offense was decent-to-good, which is really great in Jets terms considering what we have seen this year. Not feelin the Pats moving the ball with ease or controlling this game.

One of those frisky Patriot pass catchers will have a good day outta no where. I don't see a solid day for BJGE.

The Jets run defense has been improved since that game and they are getting their best linemen against the run Mike Devito back this week.I guess FBGs may also be hedging their bets based on the fact that no one every really knows what Billy Boy has in store. It could be the Danny Woodhead show this time around.

I was thinking the exact same thing. I definitely don't see a repeat of the last game but I think he should only be used as a flex consideration if you have other options. I would consider playing a back that has a tough matchup like Benson or Jacobs (If Bradshaw doesn't play) over BJGE even though I think he has a higher ceiling because you have to worry about his touches. I might take a chance on BJGE over someone like Beanie because of the knee issues but Wells has a great matchup.

On your playoff special on the audible you mention that you like BJGE going fwd because he does well in games where NE should be comfortably ahead by a TD or more for most of the game, as that leads to the pats to rely heavily on the ground and take the air out of the ball. Does this game not fit that bill to a tee? I know sanchez the jets are playing a little better, but in the battle of sanchez v bellicheck I'd rather be on the side that has Sanchez throwing 3 picks rather than three tds, even against the pats weak rated Defense. :shrug:Plus the Jets may be playing better in the win column, but the d still ain't stopping the run.week 3 raiders gashed for like 250week 4 ray rice/ricky hit em for 160 tot yards from the rbsweek 5 BJGE peeled of 150week 6 Reggie bush and D thomas combined for 120 on 17 carries (plus another 3 catches for 20 yards) week 6week 7 the chargers duo still managed close to 100 (and complete offensive ineptitude and abandoning the run-- not gonna happen here most likely)week 8 BYEweek 9 fred jackson peeled off 130Unless brady throws early pick 6's and the like (unlikely) I really can't see a scenario where BJGE doesnt get a floor of 20 carries for 95 yards and .6 td type rating in this game. Especially the way the Jets are gonna need to use their LBs to cover the TE tandem of gronk/hernandez.
