Black Friday Brawl - Chicago Bears (8-3) at Philadelphia Eagles (8-3) (3 Viewers)

Hopefully this is enough to can Petulo.
They can’t, this late in the season. It sends a message that they’ve given up. The best we can hope for is Nick low-key takes over play calling, and that doesn’t exactly inspire confidence with his tenedncies.
Yep, essentially Nick needs to take over play calling. Announced or not to save face.

I think the Eagles lay an egg this week.

I think Lane Johnson is a huge loss for the offense, and I think the Bears offense is good enough to give the Eagles defense problems, particularly the Safeties. I think Colston Loveland is a sneaky start, and I think this is a good Rome Odunze week. I also think the Bears run game will be successful. I think the Eagles offense underachieves (again) and we spend another week saying the OC should be fired, and that the Bears are actually for real.

Bears-31
Eagles-10
Dude, you’ve been on fire lately. I hope, for your sake, you’ve been betting these calls and not wasting these calls on us rubes

Good game, Bears fans! I was convinced your team were frauds, but we saw exactly who the frauds are. Respect for the Oline and the run game, and the HC.
Its been a steady ascent, but the Bears into Lions Ben Johnson makeover is certainly on schedule, especially with the OL.
Remember the MNF game where people were crowning J.J. Mccarthy as better than Caleb Williams? this is why you absolutely have to give time to new QBs and new offense pairings.-

I would hope it would tell them to build the offense around AJ Brown. But honestly, I'd be more concerned about the fact the defense game up almost 300 yards rushing than anything else.

I am guiilty of labelling Caleb a bust early. I still don’t think he’s “the man” but he’s good enough to run the increasing complexities of Ben Johnson’s Offense.

I was wrong, but I’m not crowning either one of them.

The obvious question:
Are the Bears this good?
Or
Are the Eagles kinda mid?
I think both teams are good. Neither team is great. Both in probably the 8-12 range in the NFL, Bears matched up really well with Philly.

ETA: In general, I think it drops off pretty quick after Rams/Seahawks (and I'd argue healthy Lions, which might not exist anymore...again) at the top. Then not much separates the next dozen or so teams.

honestly I think the Bears are pretty darn good...AND the Eagles are a WC quality team (not a true contender). Philly has faced a brutal schedule this year and 8-4 is a record most of us would have gladly signed up for at this point. It's the wild inconsistency that's maddening.

DId the same. Put him on my trade bait list in the one league I own him. Luckily I didnt get anything close to a reasonable offer before he started turning it around. Solid hold now

Petulo has been terrible this season as OC/play caller for the Eagles

He has zero experience in calling plays in the NFL and it shows, he sucks as an OC/play caller

Why they would choose someone who has zero experience to run an offense that is championship level
is nothing more than complete mismanagement

Am surprised that the Eagles would do this based off of how well they are run

AJ Brown has recently been validating my decision to keep him in my lineup — despite the shaky, if not feeble — first 3/4 of the season...

These past two weeks have been what I'd been anticipating to be the norm.

Bears +7
o/u 44
Game time temp - 40 degrees with winds 10-15 mph with gusts over 25

The Bears lead the all-time series 29-17-1, although the Eagles have won the past 6 meetings since 2013. The last win for the Bears in the series came in 2011, a 30-24 win in Philadelphia.
Apologies to the Sharks, been on the road for a few days visiting family, I’ll be home by Sunday Morning to launch the other game threads. You did awesome Goldie, thank you!

I know they needed a 2 point conversion on one drive, but with clock this low I would have waited for the second TD. You aren't getting 2 more drives from this team anyway, so keep hope high longer. With 5 minutes left, sure go now so you know what you need
Yep. But I’m sure some analytics book says to do it this way.

Maybe so, but the analytics have not been kind to Dan Campbell as of late.

Big shoes to fill, but I admit I was just being impatient haha

The crew just showed how the Oc taking the heat for everything yet on the play where Hurts missed a wide open Smith he had Goedert even more open down the middle if the field for a td

I love it lol
I mean, the choice to go to Davonta wasn’t wrong if Goedert is the second or third read. Smith was open and is probably the first read. It was a bad throw, but that happens. Nothing egregious imo. That type of thing happens all the time
The point they were making was that the OC IS THE WORST and he had 2 different players open for a td and got neither
Sure. That happens every play. Davonta was the first read, was the easier throw and was wide open. KP would agree
Shrug

Yeah, dude, I get it. I’m very aware of the plays you’re referring to. Jalen needs to be better on the throws to Devante on both of those plays. Again, I’m not gonna kill him for throwing to Devante and not seeing Goedert. Devante was wide-open, was the first read, and was a safer throw. If you think that these plays are why the Eagles lost and the offensive coordinator is just on the sidelines, wondering why Jalen can’t execute his great plays, I don’t know what to tell you. The guy sucks.

I’ve never said anything like that. I never said the ball should’ve gone to Goedert on that play either.
All I’ve said is SB mvp Jalen is part of the problem. There have been plenty of plays where the sucky OC has called plays where guys are running wide open and not getting the ball

Man, you do the Lords work every week in this place (for years) and I, for one, appreciate it.

Jalen is part of the problem, KP and Sirianni are a big part of the problem, the OLine playing its worst football since the Chip Kelly era is a part of the problem, Saquon getting close to 500 touches last season is part of the problem, AJ losing a step and losing interest is a part of the problem. There is basically nothing on offense that hasn’t degraded substantially from last year.

But again, you can always select a snapshot of a single route tree to point out a wr that the qb missed. That does not tell the story of this offense and its complete ineptitude. I maintain that the playcalling is some of the worst I’ve seen by this regime.

The third and 2 against Dallas is a case study in this OCs inability to make good decisions or have any feel for the game. On a down where all you need is one yard and a tush push and the game is effectively over, they put Jalen in shotgun with a deep drop, with long developing routes for all the WRs. No one even turns around by the time the pass rush gets past the backup RT and Jalen has to take a sack. They punt, Dallas drives, we lose. Before the ball was snapped all of us were collectively saying “why the **** are you not running here!?” Everyone watching knew what was about to happen. That play has happened over and over again this year. Just completely lacking in feel for the game flow and what is needed in the moment.

Dont think they have given up, it could wake them up though. The boys on WIP are ruthless.
I don’t think they’ll give up, either. I think they’ll stumble thru the last couple weeks of the schedule, win just enough to take the Division, and then go 1-and-done.
