Youthanasia is not that great. Countdown is sort of like the Metallica Black Album, there are some good songs but not my favorite.Megadeth's first six is pretty strong. Rust is one my favorite albums by any artist.
- Killing Is My Business... and Business Is Good!
- Peace Sells... but Who's Buying?
- So Far, So Good... So What!
- Rust in Peace
- Countdown to Extinction
- Youthanasia
Rust In Peace was such a letdown after Peace Sells and So Far, IMOYouthanasia is not that great. Countdown is sort of like the Metallica Black Album, there are some good songs but not my favorite.
Rust in Peace is absolutely a top 5 metal album though and Peace Sells is really good too.
Not knock'n - just could not pass such an epic.Opps... and War bloats.
Correct. Sabbath’s influence is more than obvious. The greatness of the original 6 vs other runs by metal bands is the topic here.We get that they basically created it. But that has nothing to do with the quality of the albums and the question at hand.
I thought about Motorhead also. The thing with them is they were so consistently good, but they never had that one or 2 transcendent albums. Ask 50 Motorhead fans which album is their favorite and you might hear 10 or 12 different answers.Motorhead nearly got there:
Motorhead, Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spades, Iron Fist makes 5. Through in Hammersmith if you want, but that's a live album. Another Perfect Day isn't very good though so they didn't get 6 straight in the studio.
Solid, I also always liked Shine off that album.I thought about Motorhead also. The thing with them is they were so consistently good, but they never had that one or 2 transcendent albums. Ask 50 Motorhead fans which album is their favorite and you might hear 10 or 12 different answers.
Also, I think Another Perfect Day was a pretty good record, and this is one of my favorite Motorhead tunes ever.
Oh hey.Black Sabbath has chunks of the Pixies in their stool.
show review highlight sounds like a Pixies review:Oh hey.
On the last episode of City on a Hill they played “Dead” by Pixies. You know what they haven’t played? Sabbath.
CHECK MATE
I think most would consider AC/DC hard rock, but that is a good run of albums.Maiden is my fave metal band so definitely they are on the list.
If you consider AC/DC metal they have a strong case- all 6 Bon Scott albums + Back in Black is a great start.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, although I'm probably higher on Countdown and Youthanasia than you are.Youthanasia is not that great. Countdown is sort of like the Metallica Black Album, there are some good songs but not my favorite.
Rust in Peace is absolutely a top 5 metal album though and Peace Sells is really good too.
I'm probably one of the biggest Metallica fans on the board (seen them close to 60 times) and I love garage days but I don't think you can include an album of covers, just my opinionbicycle_seat_sniffer said:Kill Em All
Ride the Lightning
Master of Puppets
...And Justice for All
Garage Days EP
Black Album
only thing that comes close IMO
I know, but its pretty epic in its own right, the small hours and crash course and how they did it was awesomeI'm probably one of the biggest Metallica fans on the board (seen them close to 60 times) and I love garage days but I don't think you can include an album of covers, just my opinion
Totally agree and although not on the original they pretty much took Am I Evil and made it theirs.I know, but its pretty epic in its own right, the small hours and crash course and how they did it was awesome
Seems like their version is really close to the original. But, it's still fantastic.Totally agree and although not on the original they pretty much took Am I Evil and made it theirs.
Who checked who, mate?show review highlight sounds like a Pixies review:Oh hey.

Though City on a Hill's meandering story can't quite match its ambitions, it's entertaining -- and even occasionally riveting -- to watch Kevin Bacon and company ...
Kevin Bacon ...so it's like a non-dancing "Footloose"?
This is a an amazing Take QuakeLike Sabbath wasn’t influenced by countless bands.
The quintessential Metallica cover is Breadfan, IMO. I remember the days of Z Rock, when that was #1 on its countdown show for something absolutely silly like 20 straight weeks.
AC/DC has the albums but not the genre. Malcolm says they are a Rock N Roll band, I agree with him.If you consider AC/DC metal they have a strong case- all 6 Bon Scott albums + Back in Black is a great start.
Am I Evil is their best cover but Breadfan is up there. The quintessential Metallica cover is Breadfan, IMO. I remember the days of Z Rock, when that was #1 on its countdown show for something absolutely silly like 20 straight weeks.
Agreed. And gotta throw “The Small Hours” in the mix.Am I Evil is their best cover but Breadfan is up there.
