So he's her father, right?
Seems like that's what they are implying, but it's almost to obvious. So he's her father, right?
her mother is Molly RingwaldMaybe he's really her mother but he/she had a sex change.
She was working through it at that point. Then she steps outside that room and it sinks in that no one else could've possibly of known those details.Yeah, it seems the only priority is to keep it off the Feds radar, right? She had to have recognized him.
What I don't get is the thing with the burn. He asks her if someone attacked her, she says not exactly, and then later attributes it to her father when calming down the little girl.
So he somehow wiped his past, which is why it didn't show up on her background check.
But then she freaks out and asks how he knew that stuff?? Was that an act for the Feds benefit?
Through this post I've come right back around to thinking she doesn't know. Huh.
Okay. So did he get plastic surgery at some point? If she knew him when she was 14, she'd recognize him. But she didn't. At the same time, they had his picture from when he was a 24 year old grad of the academy, being groomed to be an admiral. Or something like that. So it would seem his face looks the same. And if that was his path in his early 20's, until he defected and disappeared, how was he a career criminal who abandoned his family as well? He only disappeared for 4 years, not 14. So even if he had his secret family after disappearing, there isn't enough time before he pops back on the map, right? Unless he was secretly in and out of their lives. She was working through it at that point. That was revealed to her by the Feds in the briefing she got on him.Okay. So did he get plastic surgery at some point? If she knew him when she was 14, she'd recognize him. But she didn't. You'd think the barb she threw at him about abandoning his wife and kid on Christmas or something would have raised some FBI eyebrows, also, no?
Well, he was in the original Stargate program, so who knows what kind of technology he had access to.So he somehow wiped his past, which is why it didn't show up on her background check.
I didn't feel bad for him once they showed that he's an under cover. My initial reaction was that he's a bad guy, I guess we'll find out soon enough.Thought it was enjoyable, setup well for the rest of the season. I like the twist with her husband, that should be fun to watch play out.
It would be nice if Jason Alexander had a quick cameo once again demanding an apology from James Spader.her mother is Molly RingwaldMaybe he's really her mother but he/she had a sex change.
I watched the episode finally last night and thought the same thing within a few minutes. Why else would he choose someone on their first day? If its logically something else, I will be impressed.Seems like that's what they are implying, but it's almost to obvious. So he's her father, right?
they added nine to original 13 for a full season of 22 episodes...Got picked up.
No reason not to. BB is as good as TV gets. I've started HoC and Spacey is phenomenal in it. Really need to sit down and finish up the season(like breaking bad... house of cards seems to have gotten good reviews, and already available streaming on netflix)...
i didn't start BB until right before third or fourth episode (second half of final season)... and caught up in a week!No reason not to. BB is as good as TV gets. It's the only new show I like, but it's on NBC which I never watch so who knows at this point? Definitely worth watching for Spader right now.As for Blacklist.
Pretty sure it's garbage, but Spader still plays the pompous jagoff as well as anyone. Will keep watching for now.
A personal favorite.they added nine to original 13 for a full season of 22 episodes...Got picked up.

they said most watched new network drama of the season (i think sleepy hollow is highest rated new show, haven't seen it)...
something about the previews didn't grab me, maybe seemed kind of contrived, the thread prompted me to check it out, it was different than i expected, liking it so far... i thought spader was hilarious in the office, maybe he seemed a little hammy and over the top in previews, but enjoyed his performance, thanks for thread reminder...
got caught up on pilot and second episode this morning at show's online site (didn't have to download pesky ipad app by watching on desktop), now DVR set to series record...
a lot of shows i used to watch are no longer (24, lost, battlestar galactica, late to breaking bad, heroes was promising at first, other shows that didn't last long like flash forward, the event, touch, the one where the detective lives two lives waking and dreaming)... added to short list (recently discovered elementary, hawaii 5-0, castle)... i may have to check out non-network shows (breaking bad was one of two best dramatic series i've ever seen with the wire... house of cards seems to have gotten good reviews, and already available streaming on netflix)...
* forgot i DVRed first two episodes of SHIELD, but haven't checked out yet...

I started watching because I have liked Fillion in pretty much everything he has been in. I stayed because it is a pretty good show.Bob Magaw said:i almost said i started to watch it because my wife likes it...![]()
seriously, it is well written, i sometimes find shows like this predictable but it avoids this for the most part...
the non-lead regular cast are well drawn characters and seem to have genuine chemistry...
the dialogue references can be hilarious at times...
and it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously...
nathan fillion is good in this (beckett is also a believable character, tough but sympathetic), i think i saw serenity (movie) first, but i want to go back and see the one season of firefly (avail streaming netflix)...
Thought that as well...but I hope that isn't the case and they have something more original to explain why he want's to work with only her.So he's her father, right?
I'm leaning toward brother of her father.Thought that as well...but I hope that isn't the case and they have something more original to explain why he want's to work with only her.So he's her father, right?
They made it too obvious at the end of the show that he could be her father. There is some connection to the father but really don't want to wait 7 seasons to figure it out. Now, the intrigue seems to see where she starts acting like a equal to him, maybe saving his ###, or tripping him up. It wasn't too hard for her to figure out her husband might have a little xplainin to do.I'm leaning toward brother of her father.Thought that as well...but I hope that isn't the case and they have something more original to explain why he want's to work with only her.So he's her father, right?

Right now I am still torn on whether or not it's just a setup meant to get her cut off from everyone but Spader.

or Spader killed Father.my guess is that her father and Spader were partners or in cahoots in some fashion. Father saved the life of Spader at some point, leading to his own death, but not before he asked Spader to keep an eye on his daughter.
great point, also nicely droll delivery of the double entendre parting shot...I like it...not really going to nitpick it just yet. I'm just going to try to enjoy the ride...they haven't done too much to set off my BS radar yet.
I especially liked the scene of Spader playing Chess with himself (playing both sides...kinda appropo).

I don't think the team was government, they were ready to kill the woman when she came back for her purse (guy had his gun out). I don't think spooks would have been authorized to kill just to avoid detection there, they would have used other means. Could be wrong, but I think it's Spader. The husband is obviously an assassin, black ops type. The question is, is he working for us, or someone else and the govt is watching him, waiting for him to make contact with whoever he's worked for before.
I'm thinking the Feds know about the husband, maybe just because of his work or his reputation, but don't know about this identity or what his face looks like. So when she ran that bullet through ballistics and it raised a red flag, they now want to know what her connection to this guy is. Probably still don't know it's the husband.
I think it's pretty clear that the guys setting up the surveillance are government types. They worked efficiently as a team (yeah, yeah, insert joke about government employees and state workers here) and deftly avoided the neighbor when she came back to get her purse or whatever. They were trained, and trained to work as a group to get in and out. Someone running in Spader's circles would have probably worked alone and been less...exact in how he acted. Those guys were obviously CIA or something.
The question is, her FBI partner, the Matt Damon ripoff, is the one who brought the ballistics report to his superior...so does he know about this surveillance on the chick he's coming to respect, or did he just hand off the report and now it's over his head?
