Bob Sanders cut by Indy (1 Viewer)

As a Colts fan I do feel bad for him

Sanders was the focal reason why the 2006-2007 Colts had a SB. The colts D can stop the run with just his presence on the field, kinda like a healty Polumalu. I think he is one of the better defensive players that fit Dungy's scheme the best next to Freeney and Mathis.

Who will take his place and do they have value fantasy wise?

Bob, you will be sorely missed

Yea you have to make it on the field at least a few times. The Colts have given him ample opportunity to do so and he's just unlucky. At this point, with all the injuries he's had I don't think any team would give him any up front money. It would have to be considerably incentive laden. He'll turn 30 in a few days so it's not like he's that young. My prediction is that someone takes a chance, again with a few injury/playing time clauses in the contract, and he fades away unable to perform like he used to.

Hopefully, he'll be back at a bargain price. Bullitt is a free agent, and no other NFL-caliber SS is on the roster. I would predict a 1st round pick at SS, but the Colts are weak everywhere except QB, DE, and CB. This is the most unpredictable Colts offseason since they hired Dungy.

Re: Sanders - It sure was good while it lasted.

Yea I would still take a shot at him if I were one of the other teams. His health would be an issue in the contract though.

Correct me if I am wrong, but as he was released, he does not need to wait for the CBA to be implemented to sign a new contract? Just going off all the negotiations I have heard Shaun Rogers having after being released by the Browns?

May be the best possible scenario for Sanders, as he would not have the competition of a normal free agent class for his bidding services?

I'm just surprised why he didn't restructure his contract, but I guess might as well. I think he has 1-3 more good year in him.

He was due 12+ million on the remainder of his contract I believe. No way he was worth that and I don't see how he could think he was and not take a pay cut. He's played in 9 games in the last 3 years. Those probably weren't even complete games.

Who will take his place on the injury report?

Seriously, he's one of the few players whose presence or absence affects an entire defensive gameplan. I don't keep up with the extent of his injuries too much, so can anyone say whether they're things he could get over and finish his career healthy, or are they all lingering things that are bound to pop up again? Fred Taylor overcame a slew of early injuries to put together some healthy seasons, so maybe Sanders can do the same.

Sanders has never played 16 games and more than 6 (14 and 15) twice. Way past anything that Taylor had in terms of durability. Might get lucky, but really his body just did not hold up. http://www.nfl.com/players/bobsanders/care...ts?id=SAN287153

Sanders and Vikings coach Leslie Frazer have a connection. Frazer was Indy's defensive backs coach in the year they went to the Super Bowl. Vikings need a safety or two.

Guessing if they add Sanders it will be at least two.

A team that is a virtual lock to make the playoffs should sign him and sit him until the last week or so of the regular season. A team like...the Colts, maybe?

Visiting Buffalo tomorrow. The Bills could have the "All-Pro Can't Stay Healthy Defense" with Merriman and Sanders.
WTH? Don't the Bills already have safeties stacked up like cord wood?
Whitner is a free agent and wants $7M a year :lmao: After that they have oft-injured Byrd at FS and a bunch of scrubs. Between Byrd and Sanders, they could probably get about 4 or 5 games out of them.

I'd love to have him every 3rd game for the Vikings. Just play with 10 players the other games and we'd probably still be better off.
