Bobby Layne's tips on Topic Search! (1 Viewer)

The FF gods are listening - what do you need on MNF to win?

Speak (type) it into existence!

League 1:
PPR IDP redraft
After the Eke fumble, I now need 11.6 from Davante Adams. Managed to face Mahomes + Kelce on a fortunate week. Unfortunately my opponent managed to face LJax on a fortunate week as well. This should be lock, but I've been in this position before (with Adams, more than once) and lost.

League 2: 16 team dynasty league, PPR, IDP, TE-P:
Double Header week
game 1: I have Maxx, + Spillane, with a 23.15 point lead, facing Hutch + Moehrig - this should be ok. Of course this was the week I got cute and started Van Ginkel (2.5) instead of Thibideaux (57.5)
game 2: I have Maxx + Spillane, with a 97.66 point lead, and I'm facing Josh Jacobs + Mayer + Jerry Jacobs + JimmyG - again, this should be a W, but there's a lot of action there. The 100 point lead + 2 players in big-play scoring format helps.

What do YOU need on MNF? Speak and let the fantasy gods hear you!
:pickle:

Just an fyi… looks like @BobbyLayne started one yesterday. Not sure if they need to be merged or fixed. But remember it from last night.

@Hot Sauce Guy

Next you should start a MNF Game thread.

We have one already but maybe it’ll get pinned when they do that merge.
Awe maaaaaan. I swear I looked!
Well I’m not gonna lie. The search feature on here leaves something to be desired.

Searching for an official player thread usually means I end up finding the actual player thread on the last or second to last page of results. I’m sure it has to do with the date a thread was created but it certainly adds to duplication for those that aren’t thorough with a quick search.

Take for example yesterday I posted in the DK Metcalf thread about his 14 targets and 5 catches.

Not an hour later there’s a some thread about his 14 targets and 5 targets.

But I digress.

Just chiming in to say it’s okay because the search function doesn’t always work optimally.

@VikingFrog

I feel like that used to be a problem. I never have a problem using the advanced search feature (device or desktop) but you do need a couple additional steps:
  1. Enter “first-name + last-name” (with quotation marks so it searches for both terms)
  2. In drop down you can choose Everywhere or Threads or This Thread; 4th choice you want is “This Forum”
  3. Crucially, tick the box “search thread titles”
The results will only be threads with the players full name in the title.

I do steps 2 and 3 often… but that first step nuance of adding quotation marks is the best tip.

I just tried it with “DK Metcalf” and it served it right up.

So thank you.

But still pointing out that not everyone is going to jump through that hoop. So it makes it tough. Hell I’ve been here a decade plus and I just learned it.

I’ve also been told Google search works best

But I always get confused about the precise method WRT what to put in the search bar….it’s the url you want to search followed by a colon but if you put an extra space in it gets wonky…

I’m not going near anything that has to do with a colon.

Thanks for reminding me, need to reschedule today.

Was due for a colonoscopy today but atm battling a respiratory infection so I had to cancel the procedure.

Def need a Wednesday procedure so my prep doesn’t conflict with the NFL schedule.

I usually just go through the pages of thread titles, print out each page, then mail one page to everyone I've ever met with a handwritten note, describing the type of thread I'm looking for and asking them to meet me under a particular tree in a field (there's a series of riddles to find the location) to notify me. It doesn't have to be complicated if you don't make it that way.

God I'm tired .....

You do know that's now how they access it, right? They typically go in the other end. HTH!

I'll try to ELIA5 here. I have a fever, diarrhea, body aches, and suffering from violent coughing fits. I will do the procedure when I have the strength to move. Since it's a virus antibodies won't help so my GP just said to stay hydrated. The last place I want to be rn is the VA medical center as many of my fellow vets are older and high risk when it comes to viral infecitions.

Get well soon.

What the heck does ELIA5 mean?

And lo, we have come full circle.

Uh, no pun intended.
