Body Odor.... no, really (1 Viewer)

I can't believe I'm posting this, but I gotta.  I have been stinkin' BAD lately.  I've never really had bad body odor until recently.

I don't shower every day because I work from home.  Maybe that's the issue.

But damn, it's bad.  When I do shower and put deodorant on and go out and about I never end up stinkin'.

It's only when I don't shower.  But there've been days I don't shower and I didn't stink.  It's only been recently that I've noticed the absolutely putrid stank.  Does BO indicate something wrong with you internally?  No, really...

Sorry for posting a Friday thread on Monday night.  I really reek.   :X

Thoughts/schtick?

I’d like to make fun of you but I’ve noticed the same thing - working from home and skipping taking a shower.  My assumption is it’s the way it’s always been but if you were like me and showered every day before then you never got a chance to get smelly.

Where’s that dude Postradamus who stopped showering or something - he should have some pointers.

I get ammonia sweat if I run a long time.  I think it's when I start burning fat instead of glycogen/stored carbs.

Did you stop trimming your junk during the pandemic?

Do you still come into contact with other people?

Have you ever had your appendix out?

Do you eat any probiotic or prebiotic foods?  Like yogurt, bananas, potatoes, fresh onions and garlic?

Did you run out of tp back in april?

Have you tested covid positive at any point?

My son had some B.O. problems, and the doctor recommended soaking in a tub with a small cap of bleach (we used maybe an ounce or two) added to kill the bacteria.  Worked for him.

Any change to the diet?...that'll affect your stink as well.
Not really, no.  Tried eating some salads for lunches over the past month, but I doubt enough to make a change.

Maybe try eating pineapple I've heard that helps with some things
Ewwww.... I'd rather shower twice a day.

1.  The odor, and I guess I should have specified, is coming from my pits.  I am manscaping as per the usual schedule.

2.  I see my parents once a week and do visit bars/restaurants that have outdoor seating on occasion.

3.  No, still in there.

4.  Only thing I eat regularly off that list is potatoes.

5.  Nope, still go plenty of TP and wipe thoroughly after disposing of my waste.

6.  Haven't had the need to get tested as I've been feeling fine.

If only there was a way to address this.
Yeahhhhhhhhhhh.......

Change your deodorant.

I have to switch about every 6-8 months. Back and forth between aluminum and glycol.
Perhaps this is it... I changed brands a month or so back.  But what's the link?

I don't understand not showering. I can barely function without a shower. I think I've showered every day for the last 33 years - never miss a day. And most days I'll shower twice.

I'm bald, so I don't have to worry about wet hair, so that helps. But still, a shower takes what, five minutes? Why skip it?

When you shower, you need to dry between the folds.......

(you deserve that for taunting me last night when you caught up in AFL to beat me for the week)

I have been a regular, every-day shower-er for my entire life. I mean, I'll probably go without on an occasional Sunday as I usually don't go out and do anything that day, and if I did I never noticed myself stankin' like I do right now.  I would just throw on some deodorant and a hat and be good to go.

But now, days where I skip ... and again, this is just due to working from home and not going out much (thanks, COVID!) ... I notice the stank WAY more than I ever have.

You're right, it's not a huge deal to spend 5-10 minutes in the shower, but I end up waking up and just jumping right onto my computer to work and by the time I even think of it, it's 4-5pm and the day's almost over.

I think the answer is what I thought all along... just gonna shower at lunch or even later in the day, even if the next day is an "office" day, when I always shower in the mornings.

This.  Hell, if i get to like 10 AM without showering on any given day, I feel like a total disgusting loser. (even if I showered the previous evening after a workout/golf, which is pretty often)

I just feel gross.  Never understand how people do that.

I figured it out.  I bought a different deodorant at Target because it was on sale.  Didn't see that it was JUST deodorant and not anti-perspirant.  Gotta have that.  My sweat usually doesn't stink that bad, but man.... lately it is.  And the lack of anti-perspirant is not helping.

I'm a dummy.

There you go.

Since you don’t shower every day, do you brush your teeth every day?
Yeah, I keep a secondary brush in the guest/kids bathroom and brush in the morning and before I hit the hay.

Also, I smell fantastic today.  In a good way.

If you are from HB--(I'm from so cali too)--it also could be that the weather has been brutally hot.   Even when you work from home---are you running the ac when indoors and are you going outdoors at all? Today I had a day off and had to do like 20 minutes of light yard work and was sweating like a pig--just from the weather.  I feel like it's been hotter than heck out here for several months now.

It has been pretty warm.  We don't have central AC, just two window units (one in kitchen/dining/living area and one in master bedroom).  I spend most of my time in the office on weekdays.  Don't spend much time outside.  :(

It is a rare day I don't shower and plenty of days I do twice. I have hair and don't mind drying and brushing it. To me it feels good (somehow both relaxing and energizing) to shower and get ready.

Vitamin D deficiency can cause overstimulation of the sweat glands. If you haven't been getting outside much you're probably vitamin d deficient---and you are spending most of your time indoors in hot weather--you're probably sweating and not realizing it.  You might be slightly sweating in your sleep and aren't even conscious of it.   Try getting outside more and maybe consider supplementing a safe amount of vitamin D (maybe 1000-2000iu's per day) (I want to make clear that if you have health conditions that make vitamin D dangerous for you--to determine for yourself what is healthy) and see if that helps.

There's truth to this. Burning fat stinks bad. But it's healthier.

🤔 May have to try this. My 15yo stinks bad often. Kid dresses up, looks sharp for school, but stinks.

Same. I haven't willingly gone without a shower ever. I've gone over a month without showering a few times. I didn't even realize how bad we stank until some of us showered.

The smell probably eventually dissipates if you go long enough without a shower. I can't imagine the smell getting worse, I mean, there's gotta be a limit and then you just get accustomed to your new smelly self, no? I didn't receive a PhD in BO, though, so what do I know?
