Boldin vs. K.Jones (1 Viewer)

I been going over this for awhile in my head....

I can't seem to get a grasp which would be a better value in a league that has 2 flex positions and starts 2 RB and 3 WR.

With the 1.02 pick you get one of the 3 stud RB

Then at 2.11 you can pick up K.Jones

and 3.02 Boldin

This would be realistic....

But lets say a RB falls to 2.02 say Julius or Westbrook, and you take them at 2.11

Then when 3.02 comes around you are left with the option of both Boldin and K.Jones, who do you chose?

Based on FBG projections:

Boldin 95 1297 8TD = 276.3

K.Jones 225 923 6TD and 60 426 2TD = 242.9

Would it be a better strategic move to grab K.Jones and secure potentially 3 top 15 RB, or grab one of the elite 7 WR.

Looking ahead to 4.11 and 5.02 with both option.

If you go with Boldin

Then you could round out the first 5 rounds with potentially (based on mock drafts and ADP)

4.11 Dunn or Foster

5.02 Driver/AJ/Branch

If you go with K.Jones

4.11 Driver/AJ/Branch

5.02 Driver/AJ/Branch

Which roster would look stronger after 5 rounds in a ppr league that starts 2RB 3WR and 2 Flex

OPTION #1

1. LT

2. Julius Jones

3. Kevin Jones

4. Driver

5. Branch

OPTION #2

1. LT

2. Julius Jones

3. Anquan Boldin

4. DeShaun Foster

5. Driver

So in sum, is it more valuable in this roster style drafting at the second slot to have 3 Running Backs or 2 RB and 1 elite WR?

I would want to wind up strong at one position out of this. RBs are weak and getting weaker fast. There's only a dozen or so 1000 yard WRs a year. So, round 4 choices will seem far different.

I wouldn't fixate on those two but just let the draft come to me.

If it's a RB heavy draft beginning you might get lucky and be able to go with two gems at WR like Holt and Chad Johnson or Moss or Owens or whomever is your fave top WRs.

RB is probably the failsafe here but I'd keep my eye on the WRs back to back because of it.

In reply to your Q, Boldin. Not a Kevin jones fan right now. I used to be so maybe that'll change but....more confident in Boldin week to week

Boldin was top 10 overall last year in my PPR league. KJ uh, was not.

Boldin has proved he can get 100 catches in his sleep if hes healthy. In PPR, that's a 2-3-4 TD edge over Moss/TO even Harrison. I would take him before an average RB without question.

Kevin Jones sucks
He does not suck but I do not think he is the right fit for the Martz offensive system. I am hearing he is working hard this offseason but in Martz system he will need to be able to catch the ball and be a factor in the passing game; I do not think his style is well suite for this.

Why all the KJ hating :)

If he comes anywhere close to the 60 receptions FBG predicts for him, then I think he is a real value in a PPR league.

Plus I think if Martz can do anything with that offence he probably can come close 10 touchdowns this year, as he should be the Goal-line back.

I can understand that owners were burned by him last year, but the Martz factor this year... makes KJ a much different back then he was last year, just in the way he is going to be utlilized in the offence.

I've already been in a few drafts for this year with this setup and scoring rules, and neither has been available at 3.02 so it's a moot point. You'll be lucky if one or both are there with your 2nd rounder if your league is competitive.

after being burned by KJ 2 years in a row, it is hard to feel optimism for him. I know it is a new system, but he is always getting hurt. I am beginning to wonder if he really is as good as advertised. If he really were able to distinguish himself, Mariucci probably would have left him on the field more.
