Giants :: TE

Giants Sign TE B.Williams, TE Kranchik Released

Michael Elsen, Giants.com - [Full Article]

The New York Giants signed TE Boo Williams. To make room, TE Mike Kranchik was released.

Wow,Shockey and Boo. I wouldn't wanna play them around Halloween. All they need now is to go 3 tight ends and bring "The Ghost",Dave Casper out of retirement. :eek:

Any Giants homers... are they planning to run a lot of Double TE sets next year?

And is it me, or are teams starting to look for more double TE sets.... am I imagining things? :tinfoilhat:

potential fantasy impact of this shift? good for RBs I'd imagine

Boo Williams signing has nothing to do with what alignment they want to run.A 2 TE offense is no better/worse for a running game than having a FB in front of the RB.

I would view this as a pretty insignificant move - he's hardly a lock to even make the team. They also have Shiancoe, who Coughlin seems to like.

I believe Rivers signed elsewhere, so the Boo signing was most probably for depth at TE. Williams was a transformed WR to TE, so would be used more for pass catching than blocking. But if Shockey gets hurt (again) Williams could benefit due to the added playing time. At this point, unless your rosters are real deep, I would just put this into the vault for future reference, snagging Boo off of waivers at some point in the season at the first inklings of Shockey getting dinged.

:thumbup: thanks for the insight

Rivers was on the Texans last year and the Raiders currentlyShiancoe was a great prospect under Fassel and not so much under Coughlin. They took their time re-signing him and I was rather surprised no other team jumped at the chance. They have another TE(can't recall his name) that would probably be considerred 2nd on the depth chart above Shiancoe.

All in all, if Shockey gets hurt they'll need to replace some serious production so they'd better have a receiving type:Shiancoe and Boo can fill that role and otherwise sit as their blocking is lest than stellar.

So much for Shockey.
:goodposting: Do you think they'll go after the next Saints flavor of the year Hilton and just waive Shockey?? Or you think they'll wait until the Saints waive Hilton when he can't beat out the competition there?
