Oh my God, Search is so broken.

Really. Totally. F###ed beyond belief.

Search is unbelievably terrible. It's a joke.

I'm used to it being a total clusterf##k on mobile, but now even on desktop it's a g#####n war crime.
It's funny because search was terrible to begin with. Now it's just a joke.

Whoa.

So I just discovered the "load more topics" button at the bottom of page one. Its like page one doesn't even matter now, its a totally fluid concept. :mindblown:

I forgot to see if we could say "S####horpe United" yet like the boards for grown-ups allow.

Treat us like children, we'll act like children. ####, yeah.

First they came for the Test Forum, and I said nothing. Because I didn't post in the Test Forum.

Then they came for my ####...

At least the penis still mightier than the sword.

Had to look S####horpe United up - good one

Internet obscenity filters

Main article: S####horpe problem

In 1996 there was controversy when AOL's obscenity filter (among others) refused to accept the name of the town due to its inclusion of the embedded word ####, which the filter rejected as obscene. Some online forums such as Ultimate Guitar forums (which has recently been resolved) display the name as S****horpe, while Fark.com would display it as Scoonthorpe. This form of censorship over-reach is known in the computing world as the S####horpe problem.

You would think a search of the term shameless would return the thread titled shameless
I heard from this girl that the new board search uses fuzzy logic and a twenty sided die.

So, we now have the subtle star to denote threads I've posted in. It's hard to believe that the black dot from so long ago represents the internet's apex. It's also hard to believe that the people who write this code actually use the finished product.

They fixed this last time, I'm sure they can fix it again. :oldunsure:

I believe MF said the little star is temporary until all the other stuff is finished.
The code for those icons is a #####. Always good to leave them until the end to make sure you get them right.

So, once they get everything fixed that was broken, we'll be back to the same functionality we had before the "upgrade"? Got it.

If you look at the main forums page it shows the new Archive forum has ~845K posts pulled out of FFA which now has ~7.4M remaining posts, so they basically (I'm guessing) shifted roughly +1/8th of all FFA data to a separate server? Hard to understand if that's a software issue or a storage one (maybe both?), but I'm guessing the latter. Though considering that there is no embedded images or video here and instead it's just text so I'm guessing the software has a larger impact on server and data costs than it should. Just guessing.

Also I never would have guessed FFA has more posts than TSP, but it does, by a good bit, which makes me wonder which is tail and which is dog. FF drives everything yes but hey traffic is traffic.

Hmm, all of the football forums total up to slightly over four million replies while the FFA still has well over seven million. Perhaps Joe and David ought to think about getting out of the fantasy business and turning to a more yoga pants focus.

So is the Hitler thread coming back or what? I've got some new facts about him and I need to update that thread.
Hitler refused to remove controversial threads whenever there was a forum 'upgrade' despite the loud protests from the heavy-handed censors.

Awesome. That is a significant upgrade from the magic eight ball.

My last search for yoga pants returned a "Outlook not so good" response. :kicksrock:

The circles around the stars are missing on the mobile interface. Back to the future!
They're still missing on the non-mobile version too, GB

Are the circled stars coming back or not? I don't mean to be crotchety here, but their absence is keenly felt and annoying.

I think the search is working fine. I suspect JB did a drive-by purge of all the good threads.
Not.. Do a search on "gotham"... 3 threads..

But hey, a search on fish brings back 3 pages of threads, so maybe 4 letters is max before overload happens.. :shurg:

Blue Star sucks
I think unread threads should be blue circles. And replied to threads should be blue ovals.
Yes, something like 0 & O.
Exactly! That would be ideal.
No no no. It needs to be lighter so it blends into the background easier. That would keep out the old fogies who can't see anymore.
Like this?:
Perfect!

I think search is disabled or just not working the way it will as they continue to work through the archiving issues. Still lots going on behind the scenes.
