Both Baileys out (1 Viewer)

According to three NFL sources, the Broncos learned Tuesday that strongside linebacker Boss Bailey and backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey will be lost for the season. Bailey needs microfracture surgery to repair the knee damage he has received throughout his playing career, and again Monday night during the Broncos' humiliating 41-7 loss to the New England Patriots. Ramsey reinjured his right throwing elbow, which had been bothering him since the third preseason game.

Meanwhile, star cornerback Champ Bailey will be out four to six weeks with a torn right groin.
Excellent opportunity for Wes Woodyard to work his way into a little more playing time if the Broncos choose to stick with the 3-4 on passing downs. He had already begun seeing some rotational snaps. Both Baileys will be sizable coverage losses and with the Broncos already struggling to stop the run, the great tackle opportunity this team has seen is certain to continue.

It sounds like Karl Paymah will fill in for Champ while he's out. They are on a bye this week but is he worth a look in leagues that start cb's? Judging by their upcoming schedule they have pretty weak matchups for cb's over the next 6 weeks so not sure if he'd be worth it.

I'm curious to know more about Woodyard. He was an undrafted rookie and hasn't seen much PT till this point. Winborn seemed to fill in for Boss last game and did pretty well in limited time. Winborn has been around for a while so my guess is he's more of a filler at this point.

Winborn took the every-down role when Bailey missed the first game of the season. He'll see the most immediate positive impact. He and Brandon Johnson are going to be nice depth adds this week. I don't think it's worth reaching for any DEN cornerback, regardless of scoring system.Woodyard is a speedy, rangy type player who probably doesn't have the size to hold up anywhere but on the weak side in the long-term. Plenty of 6-0, 230ish guys have had decent IDP value, dependent on scheme and opportunity. Woodyard fits that profile and would have to be something special to squeeze out a Michael Boley like niche at some point in the future.

Boss Bailey was actually putting up some decent numbers before he went down for the count. For the first time in his career, he was becoming a viable starting LB in fantasy lineups. Though, he's been on every injury report this season and his fragile ways caught up to him. As Jene said, it looked like Winborn took most...if not all his snaps.

Winborn's been around a while but still is only 29.
