Boulware (1 Viewer)

So, Boulware got released. I picked him up on the cheap in my dynasty league... along with several other.... long shots, like Barrow. Supposedly, ESPN reports there are 8 teams interested in him, first and foremost, Cleveland. He would be a pass rushing, 3rd down specialist there, as far as I can tell. I had hopes for him with the Ravens going back to a 4-3 that he'd be an every down LB. Yea, I know, that was a long shot, which is why I got him so cheaply. I think Cincy would use him the same way. Are there any teams out there that might use him as a 3 down LB? Seattle, maybe? just curious what others think his future is.... a pass rushing specialist, or an LB?

Seattle would be a great fit. He could line up as a DE on passing downs just like Chad Brown used to, and his brother plays there too.Cleveland would make sense as well with the Savage connection. They might just use him as a pass rush specialist rather than a 3-down LB though.

One rumor that I have heard that I like alot is Indy. I think he would be a very strong fit at SLB on that team. It would also give them alot of flexibility at the other LB positions and S.

Baltimore, from what I've read, offered him a contract for 2 million and another 2 million in incentives. He and his agent figured he could get more elsewhere so he rejected the offer. Whoever offers the most $ is likely to bag him.

If he thinks he is worth $4M per year then he is greatly mistaken. What do they say about staring a gift horse in the mouth?

I read that (at PFT, which is a serious rumor mill) that Boulware's agent most likely had an idea that he could make more than what the Ravens offered him. His agent (or was it Boulware?) reportedly said he'd like to line up behing Freeney and terrorize QB's. That would in fact, be a scary pass rush for sure, you could never block both of them. I'm also pretty sure he wants to remain a full time backer. After all, he's only 30 years old, not like he should be over the hill.

Being from Baltimore it was a combo of money, but also playing time. He didn't like the addition of Dan Cody. He felt Cody would cut into his playing time. So he decided to move on. In a class move Baltimore cut him before 6/1 so he had a strong chance to lock in somewhere else as a starter. We shall see. My guess... Bengals.

Why, because of the Marvin Lewis connection?

There's always that. I also don't see a very strong linebacker crew. Nor do I see a huge pass rush. I wouldn't be too surprised if he even signed for less than the 4 million (2 salary + 2 incentives) that Baltimore offered.
