Bradford in a McDaniels offense (1 Viewer)

This would be very interesting and exciting for Bradford owners

NFL Network's Jason La Canfora reports that the Rams may pursue Josh McDaniels as an offensive coordinator candidate if OC Pat Shurmur leaves for the head coaching job in Cleveland.

Shurmur is the favorite for the Browns' job. The Rams don't have viable in-house alternatives, and McDaniels would be an awfully interesting addition for Sam Bradford. "McD" has established a reputation for getting the absolute most out of quarterbacks, and Bradford would be his most talented pupil since Tom Brady. St. Louis' top competition would come from Minnesota

surprised kc wouldn't be a location for him.he could reunite with cassel, have a young talented core and have the denver rivalry 2x a year.

Haley had a rough month. With all the rumors swirling about his relationship with Weis, I would imagine he blew a lot of currency he may have had with OC's looking for a job. I'd love to see him work with Bradford.

Todd Haley comes across as a ##### to work for.

all good points guys.

with pioli and the pats connection there didn't know if he would put josh there and groom him if haley does indeed go off the deep end.

anyway, sorry to the OP for hijacking.

Last I read it looked like McDaniels was heading to Minnesota
if you were mcdaniels and you cut your teeth in a system with a stud QB and a bunch of good but interchangeable WRs, wouldn't st louis look like a more attractive destination than minnesota? of course, i suppose there's a decent change minnesota drafts a QB this year, but whoever they draft isn't going to be as good as bradford...

McDaniel would have to be foolish to not be interested.

Considering McDaniels would actually let Bradford throw more than 20 yards down the field - I'll consider it an upgrade if it happens.

Would McDaniel be good or bad for AP?

Let the Tebow speculation beginby Judd ZulgadMinneapolis Star & Tribune Last update: January 8, 2011 - 4:27 PM Although the Vikings have yet to say whether former Broncos coach Josh McDaniels will become their offensive coordinator (or even how the meeting between the two sides went on Friday), there is now an interesting twist to the story if that does happen.John Elway, the Broncos' new executive vice president of football operations, told Peter King of NBC and Sports Illustrated that he doesn't, " think Tim Tebow is a good quarterback at this level at this time.”That could mean that Elway will be looking to trade Tebow -- King made it clear that Elway never told him he wants to deal Tebow -- and if he does the team that hires McDaniels could be urged to go get Tebow so the two could continue to work together. Former NFL quarterback Rich Gannon told the Star Tribune on Friday that veteran Kyle Orton, who has been with Denver, would be a good fit to run the McDaniels offense but Tebow could be viewed as the Vikings' long-term answer.Vikings fans will recall the Tebow mania before last year's draft when there was all types of speculation that Minneosta might grab the former Florida Gator. In that case, it was never clear if then-coach Brad Childress or vice president of player personnel Rick Spielman was a Tebow fan. If it was Spielman, Childress would have had the authority to tell him no on Tebow. In the end, it didn't matter because the Broncos traded up to get the 25th pick in the draft and took Tebow. The Vikings were slated to pick 30th.If Childress was the one who said he didn't want Tebow and Spielman did like him it could be a situation now where it would be realistic for the Vikings to take a run at the quarterback. Remember, Spielman and new coach Leslie Frazier are expected to both have a say over the roster, where Childress had final authority of the final 53.As King points out, the real issue now would be the lack of a collective bargaining agreement. Trades can not be made until the first day of the new league year on March 4 and if a lockout starts that day because of no CBA no trades will be allowed until the work stoppage is finished.Shortly after King's report, Elway took to Twitter to start the damage control."To clarify my thoughts on Tim Tebow... I think he's a very good football player, and if anyone can turn themselves into a great QB, Tim can," Elway said. "Myself and our entire organization think very highly of him. We are pleased with his first year as a Bronco. Any speculation that the Denver Broncos are considering moving Tim is completely false."Nonetheless, if McDaniels does land with the Vikings it's nearly certain plenty of Tebow speculation is certain to follow. So McDaniels comes to Minny does Tebow follow via trade?????????????

I suppose it's possible, but seeing as how the only "information" that Tebow might be traded was postulated by a reporter who himself stated that this was based on nothing more than his own hunch, AND that Elway has said that the Broncos are not considering moving Tebow, I would say doubtful, unless Minny makes Denver an irresistible offer.

Minn is not exactly flush with draft picks available to trade either as they shipped off their 3rd for Moss this year.

At borderline risk of being called a troll, I'll say:

Wth McDaniel's history for DISMANTLING a perfectly decent team, I'd be concerned that Bradford would be sent packing elsewhere.

I'm guessing the Rams aren't going to give their new OC any power over personnel moves.

PFT brought up a good point. McDaniels is looking for HC job in the future and is trying to rehab his image in this next job as OC.

You don't want Bradford working with different OCs every year or every other year (see A Smith & J Campbell). They need to find an OC that has got the HC thing out of his system, yet talented enough to groom Bradford and run an offense.

This thread has been hijacked like 5 different times, but I have to ask Rams fans- what do you think of Pat Shurmur? Will he be missed if he takes off? Do you think McDaniels would be a big upgrade? Do you think Shurmur has what it takes to be a head coach.

I liked Pat's playcalling this year until the last game. That conservative garbage made me want to puke. We gave Danario one shot and that was it.

And Denario dropped it......... I don't blame the conservative play calling all year. We had NO wr's to work with this year. I do wish we ran the ball more in the Seattle game but you can't lemonade without lemons.I would welcome McDaniels with welcome arms. Everyone has STL drafting a WR in the first round and I'm not saying they aren't going to but we are getting back Donnie Avery and Mark Clayton this year. If added to Alexander and Amendola and Gibsob this offense is better than some think. Now, throw in a offensive minded guru and you have the makings for something very nice in STL.

Ya the hijacking has been a bit much.I think Shurmur is very good. I personally think he would be a much better head coach than McDaniels. His play calling can be a bit conservative, but we also have to remember he had a rooki QB. As good as Bradford was in his first year, he was a rookie and I thought Shurmur handled him very well. Many forgot Bradford came from a spread offense in college and made the transition look easy. I credit some of that to Shurmur. The reason I posted the thread is because McDaniels clearly runs a very wide open/explosive offfense (specifically through the air). I think Orton is a good QB, not in Bradfords league going forward, but good, and he looked like a possible top 5-6 fantasy QB in the McDaniels offense. I'm not sure the Rams would be a better team with McDaniels versus Shurmur, but I do think Bradford will put up better fantasy points n the McDaniels offense.

I gotta say this is how I wish college head coaches would make the transition to the NFL. Also, if we're bringing some predetermined offense to Bradford then I want them to go get the Hawaii guy or dust off those run N shoot playbooks from the 80s. Some coaches used to say they'd run a RB til their legs fall off-well in that context, I wanna see Bradford's arm fall off. I don't want any quick screens like Charlie Weis. I don't want a single dink or dunk pass or any dumpoffs. Get him some gazelles at WR and let's roll.
