Brady faking his ankle injury? (1 Viewer)

Browns Rule!

I am convinced that there is a very real possibility that Brady is faking his ankle injury per the request of his coach to take the media off of Randy Moss. Moss has played 2 games since the restraining order news came out, which the media jumped all over.

vs. SD - 1 catch, 18 yards. 1 rush, 14 yards.

vs. Jax - 1 catch, 14 yards

0 TD's in these two games. I think Belichick, like normal, is doing everything he can to win this game. Of course, this hasn't been proven, but I am convinced it is a very real possibility. I think its a very real possibility that Belichick said "Throw a air cast on that ankle, show the media a limp every now and then, and watch the media flock to you." What is one thing that we have heard the 2 weeks before the Pats last game that you have heard next to no word about now? Randy Moss's leagal trouble. I think if this is true, it is very unethical, but Belichick has never seemed to care about this, he does what he has to to win.

1. No one knows for sure when Brady got this mysterious injury.

2. I find it strange that Brady isn't on the injury report for a sprained ankle, but for a sore shoulder. Maybe Belichick realizes if he gets found out about the faking of Brady's injury, he doesn't want to anger the NFL by putting a fake injury on the injury report, but doesn't mind faking over the media to take attention off of Moss.

Right now, this is just a theory. I'm sure many won't agree, but I'd be curious to see what others thing.

I'm a little paranoid that he isn't on there for the ankle. Perhaps they are really trying to downplay his missing practice last week.

It's certainly a possibility and I'm sure the Giants have thought of it as well. I would never put anything past Belichick. Thats why he's the best coach in the game.

I'm not reading or watching most of this and I didn't even read your post but, I saw a picture in The NY Post today of Brady on the field TAPING HIS OWN ANKLE.....

On the field

I don't think Brady's that hurt, but I don't think they made it up, either. They put him in a walking boot for a little while to be overly cautious, held him out of a couple of early practices in Foxboro, and now they're taping it up just to make sure. They've been playing it safe because they had two weeks to prepare for, of all games, the Superbowl. It seems like it makes sense to be as cautious with Brady as they can.

I also don't think they've been trying to hide it. Belichick isn't going out of his way to answer questions about it, but what else is new? Brady's been saying since day one that he was going to play, and it looks more and more like that's true.

If anything, I was more worried that this was worse than they were saying, but the fact that Brady's been practicing and, as Reaper mentioned above, taping his own ankle, makes me think that this is mostly a non-story, unless he reaggravates it.

Well, there's no such thing Fred as a nonstory during the Super Bowl, especially when you have 2 weeks in between games. I completely agree that there was something with the ankle, but it was never that bad and really no chance that he wouldn't play. You add in that the ankle belongs to Tom Brady, the guy who just set the NFL record for TD's and the MVP of the league......of course it's going to be blown out of proportion. All you have to do is this........check Vegas. Vegas has Tom Brady (and it's been like this all along) as a 2/3 or 1/2 favorite to win the SB MVP. Vegas is supremely confident in the fact he will play and play well and they're basically begging you to take someone else to win the MVP.Not gonna happen. Brady will have 300 plus yards and 3 TD's minimum.

Hater. j/k.If you watch the SD game again, in the first half, Brady comes to the sidelines and sits right down. I believe Merriman either sacked him, or knocked him down in that series. The trainers are all over his leg and Brady mouths "foot". I don't think its a made up injury. But with two weeks to look for stories, the media blows everything up. And there have been stories about Moss's legal troubles all week.

The Moss story would be much bigger if it weren't for the Brady ankle story. Everyone seems to want to know about how Brady is, the amount you hear on Moss is very small it seems to me.

Could be fake, but the shoulder is still bothering him, as it's on the Injury report. Why isn't the media on that? Sportscenter did a tongue in cheek piece last night, but that's all.

I think he was banged up, and they were cautious. As for the Moss angle. I think that's the ace in the hole. Why use your homerun hitter when you can save him for the SB? If you can run an offense without him and then bring him back into the fold, as they did after the preseason when he didn't play, why not do it? I'm calling Moss for the MVP right now, with two long scores and about a buck and half receiving.

I have to disagree. I think this is Vegas begging you to take Tom Brady, if anything, and more likely, this is right where it should be. Who else on NE would win the MVP (assuming they win the Superbowl). It would have to be a MONSTER game by any of the receivers (I'm talking 200+ yards and 2+ TD's and remember Brady get's all these stats as well), or a MONSTER game by a RB (again Huge yardage totals and multiple TD's) or a Defensive Player picking Manning off 3 times with one returned for a TD. And if it's close at all (or no clear cut MVP) it's going to go to Brady by default. Let's say NE has a 80% chance of winning the Superbowl (-600 ML odds translates roughly to 86%), I'd say given NE wins, Brady has a 75% chance of winning the MVP so .8 * .75 = 60% of Brady winning MVP (translates roughly to 2/3 odds).

What I have noticed though with my online sportsbook is that a lot of the props that normally have the standard "Player must play" qualification attached to them have been changed to "Bet is Action" for this game. Now I'm not sure if this is normal for the Superbowl or not, but it certainly makes me wonder.

I don't think they were saving him. I believe Jacksonville and San Deigo just decided to take him out of the game and see if the rest of the team can beat them. Sort of like taking the deep ball away completely and making them sustain long drives down the field. More plays = greater chance of having NE make a mistake. I'd be surprised if the Giants didn't take a similar approach.

Looks like Belichik has reached the Red Auerbach level that people think they have control over everything in the universe. Everything's a conspiracy.

Brady had a minor injury...he wore an aircast for a few days as a precaution...he than had a slight limp...after about 10 days the limp seems to have gone away. There's no one in the grassy knoll here. It is what it is. As for Moss he has been the total focus of defenses. Since these are playoffs teams with quality defenses it should come as no surprise that they were able to be effective doing this. It should also come as no surprise that this has opened things up for other players to be productive. The theory seems to be that instead of getting decimated by the big play making the Patriots earn their way into the endzone provides more room for error for them. This seems like a pretty simple scenario to understand and it has zero to do with the plot from a movie like National Treasure.

Consider yourself lucky that a couple of castaways from the Patriots (Crennel and McGinnest) decided to grace your woeful organization with their presence. "very unethical"? Please. An attempt at subtrifuge? Perhaps. But not for Moss's benefit; this non-story took attention from all the other 50 players on the roster. Brilliant!

as a Giants fan, I hope you're wrong, but I tend to agree with you, I think Brady will have a monster game, and NE will win this thing, going AWAY...this has all the makings of a total blowout SB game...there's always the overachieving underdog who many feel doesn't belong in the game.and more times than not, the dog loses, and loses BIG...I can see BB and Brady and Co. really running up the score in this one, to put that cap on the perfect season...

it would not surprise me to see NE score 42+ points....take NE giving 12...it could be 35-14 at halftime..

hope you have a plan B for Sunday, this *could* get ugly.

I'm a `realist` of a Giants fan.nice season..Eli has stepped up and so has the defense..but now I think they get their heads handed to them..never give BB two weeks to prepare for a game, he's lethal off a two-week bye....

I'm sure NFL teams have their fair share of "spies". If Brady's mobility will be limited, it is probably a safe bet that Giants already know about it...

If BB and Brady are playing a game in an attempt to get the Giants to blitz more often, the Giants will know a few minutes into the game...

I don't see the Patriots gaining much by "faking" this injury...imo

I don't see much point in faking it to change the Giants scheme's, but to take the pressure off of Moss, it makes perfect sense. Especially for someone like BB (As a Browns fan, I will always dislike the man, you don't just run Bernie out of town in Cleveland and expect support).

I am convinced that it is a very real possibility that Brady's fake ankle injury is not to take the pressure off of Moss.

The fake ankle injury is part of an alien coverup.

Donte Stallworth made a huge mistake when he openly discussed "nicco" with the media a few weeks ago (http://www.bostonherald.com/track/inside_track/view.bg?articleid=1068167). The Patriots have been desperate the deflect attention away from his statements with the restraining order and "ankle" injury.

Bob Kraft is a member of the New World Order and is an alien/human hybrid. Since Kraft took over the team in 1994, he has been applying his advanced alien knowledge to the Patriots. This knowledge has produced the ability to control the players minds and has generated 4 super bowl appearances in 7 years. There are rumors that the Patriots have shared some of their knowledge with the Red Sox because of the recent world series victories.

The truth is out there.

Right now, this is just a theory. I'm sure many won't agree, but I'd be curious to see what others thing.
