Even at minimum vet salary he can afford that house 2 times over. He's gone.A little fuel to add to the fire. I think it is more of him not going to be able to afford the house since he is going to lose out on 11mill due to lost escalaters in his contract.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he not have first-rounders at ever single skill position last year? In fact, all skill position players were top 13 picks in their respective drafts. All but Stallworth were top 6 picks in their respective drafts. Consider it: J. Lewis, B. Edwards, K. Winslow, and D. StallworthHard to argue that he didn't have talent around him. This kid gets a million chances because people all want to borrow against the Notre Dame fan base and peddle his toothy smile to soft drink companies. How about a musical chairs, four-way trade sending Young, Leinart, Quinn and Russell off to different cities? In an impatient world, that would give these guys more time to "develop."A lot of teams who needed a quarterback passed on this Brady Quinn business.Quinn did get dealt a pretty tough hand of cards playing for a bad Browns team, with Edwards dropping passes and Jamal Lewis going nowhere, and against three pretty serious defenses to start the season (MN, Denver, Baltimore). Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Quinn is a real prize, but I definitely could see some OCs thinking there might be some untapped starter potential there, before simply tossing him in the backup QB trash heap.I mentioned Oakland because they so desperately need a QB out there, but you're right that Quinn is not the right QB for that team. (Heck, DA might not be a bad choice for Oakland since he'd be absolutely fearless about tossing long balls for DHB to chase.) I vote for Tennessee. Heck, they could just swap Quinn for VY and call it a day!
Jason Reid, Washington PostSources: Redskins Not Interested in Quinn
With the trade deadline Tuesday, there has been a little buzz out there about the Redskins possibly being in the mix for Cleveland Browns quarterback Brady Quinn.
Well, that's not going to happen, two league sources wrote in texts. The team is not interested in the former Notre Dame standout who has struggled with the Browns.
Brady Quinn has a total of 6 NFL starts. He got 3 last year before getting injured, and 3 this year before getting benched. I have no idea where you get the notion that he has had a "million chances".Correct me if I'm wrong, but did he not have first-rounders at ever single skill position last year? Colts aren't going to waste cap (they don't have) dollars on a backup QB. And with Polian's track record at late draft choices they would likely see a 4th as more valuable than a backup QB.In the vein of full disclosure I have Quinn rostered in my Dynasty league. With that said just want to float this out there and see what you guys think. Who is Peyton Mannings back-up? Jim Sorgi, been there for years. Curtis Painter drafted this year as a developmental player. Wouldn't Quinn be an upgrade over both these guys? Also factor in the Norte Dame fan base in Indiana and this would make a ton of sense if you could get Quin for a 4 and 7th round pick. Now if I want Quinn to get a chance to start in the next 5 years I think that Car, Wash, Stl, Ari, Oak, and Tenn would be my choice.
Brady Quinn has zero interest in being the next Jim Sorgi. In the vein of full disclosure I have Quinn rostered in my Dynasty league. 2nd half of the season he was pretty danged good. 1866 passing yards, 15 TD's, 12 Int's. A little high on the Int's, but showing some very good promise already. Comparing Quinn to that is kind of silly. Hell, Manning had a game in there where he threw for 357 yards, 3 TD's, and 1 Int in that 2nd half. That's better than Brady Quinn's career right there.Peyton Manning wasnt great his first year of starting, he was on an awful team, like Cleveland is now.

So we should give every no talent ######## a million chances to make sure they're not Rich Gannon or Drew Brees? Someone ought to give Rex Grossman a couple more chances, I don't think we've seen enough yet.Steve Young, Rich Gannon, Drew Brees, Eli Manning, Troy Aikman, Terry Bradshaw, Dan Fouts...That was a bit different. Warner didn't really "struggle" out of the gate because he never got an opportunity to play. He had 300 yards and 3 TDs in his very first NFL start and never looked back. But there have been many, many players who played, struggled, got cut......and then found success elsewhere. Rich Gannon comes to mind.plenty of QBs have struggled out of the gate. some even got cut - or have we already forgotten the kurt warner story?Pretty much no one.Flacco, Ryan, Sanchez have shown that you either got it or you don't right out of the gate. Quinn has had shots and done nothing with them.who would trade anything for him?

Quinn's 6 starts span 3 years where he certainly should have had more training camp, practice, preseason snaps, work in the weight room, and time understand how to play the game at an NFL level. Sometimes the reason a guy only has 6 NFL starts after 3 seasons in the league and can't separate himself from a guy who just completed 2 passes in a game, after being a 1st round pick, is because he really is bad.Peyton Manning, first 6 starts of career:53.8 completion %, 227 yards per game, 1 TD per game, 2.3 INTs per game, 55.7 passer rating2nd half of the season he was pretty danged good. 1866 passing yards, 15 TD's, 12 Int's. ESPN was eluding today to the fact that his benching is a financial boon for the Browns. Mangini is an ###-bag. He really has not done much, 1 play-off run? They are getting rid of all the first rounders from the previous regime and Quinn is next. In the right situation Quinn will be a good QB. The reason he got benched was due to making safe plays and not taking chances, DA's super-duper chance taking game of 2-17 resulted in a baseball score. The Browns are a mess of an organization and will continue to suffer with idiotic leadership. This is his third season in the league and he hasn't thrown for 1000 yards yet. He has 69 more career passing yards than Matthew Stafford, who is 21 years old. BQ will be 25 this month. Do you know how many yards Dan Marino had passed for in his career by that age? Enough to wallpaper the Biltmore. It's not like he's waiting his turn behind an established veteran on a good team. He's being beaten out by a sixth rounder who is 16 months older than he is and plays for the Browns.Brady Quinn doesn't stink because the Browns are bad. Blowing a first round draft pick on Brady Quinn has contributed to the Browns being bad.Three years is a career to some players. There has to be more to it than that. I'm not sure how many people on this board follow the Browns closely (who would?), but I do. I still can not figure out for the life of me why Jerome Harrison is not the starting RB for the Browns. Yes, I know this thread is about Brady Quinn, but it's also about personnel decisions for the Browns. Now I don't know why Quinn is not starting any more than I know why Harrison isn't starting, but neither of them make any sense to me. The Browns have had plenty of time to see what they have with Derek Anderson. It's so painfully obvious that he can't manage a game, likes to throw the ball very hard (even on short passes) and tends to not worry about turnovers (and they often come in bunches when he plays). Then you can look at Winslow and Braylon. 2 very talented players who were traded away from the Browns. Winslow is tied for 4th among TEs in catches and leading all NFL TEs in TDs this year. All Braylon had to do was leave Cleveland for a few days and he's back to making great plays. He almost had 2 TDs after practicing with the Jets for like 4 days. I think there is some kind of a funk in Cleveland and I don't know how they can break out of it. They have scored more than 10 points 2 times in their last 11 games. 2 Freaking times, are you kidding me?! In those same 11 games, they have thrown ZERO TD passes to Wide Receivers and have ZERO rushing TDs by Running Backs. ZERO! That has to be a record for futility right? In closing, sorry about the rant, but I'm not blaming Quinn for this mess. I still think in the right situation he would be an NFL starting caliber QB. Hopefully he'll get that chance, because I'm not sure any QB will make a difference for the Browns right now. This is his third season in the league and he hasn't thrown for 1000 yards yet. He has 69 more career passing yards than Matthew Stafford, who is 21 years old. BQ will be 25 this month. Do you know how many yards Dan Marino had passed for in his career by that age? Mangini is taking a big risk with that strategy. NFL coaches are ALL on a very short leash. It is common to get fired after bad campaigns in your first 2 years. Some make it 3. It pretty rare to make it 4 years with little to show for it. (David Shula as Bengals coach comes to mind as a rare case there) Take for example Romeo Crennel. He coached for 4 seasons, had 1 10-6 record and 3 crappy seasons and got fired. That's actually pretty normal. Some owners wouldn't have even given him a 3rd season. So what I'm saying is Mangini may only have 2 years to prove he can win in Cleveland. So ALL of his focus must be on building a winner. If he spends his first season "cleaning house and cutting salary", his focus is wrong. That means he could be giving himself 16 games in 2010 to prove he can win. A couple key injuries and it could go up in smoke.Like I've said before, I was pretty surprised Mangini didn't draft another RB in the second round or so to add significant depth at that position, and then run the ball a lot. Control the clock and grind out wins, while Brady Quinn learns the ropes. That style of play is very conducive to job security as a head coach on a team with a lack of talent. Making Derek Anderson the QB and relying on that is probably unhealthy for Mangini's career. I do like the fact that they are running more, but I also feel they lack RB depth and DA scares me.He has played 9 games under 2 coaches... give me a break... you really think 2-17, 23 yards and a pick is good play? Mangenius is clearing house and conserving cash, read MMQB, he says it. All of the transactions this year have saved $40million, it will be $51 million with Brady and write of this season.
