Bragging, venting, crowing, grieving... (3 Viewers)

Undefeated so far in my redraft, but down 40 points and didn't start the ####### Jags defense

Totally annihilating my opponent in my dynasty this week.  Still undefeated and head and shoulders above everyone else at this point..

But now I've lost Cook, Carson, and Beckham in back to back weeks.  I really need Cooper to step up or Davis to come back and pull his own Beckham rookie year.

Injuries suck.

In one league, every opponent of mine has a big week.

This week, it is great that I started Ben in my superflex league and my opponent  has the Jax defense.

1-4 in both leagues. Never had a year like this. Ready to quit. Someone talk me off the ledge
FF is a game of skill, but with a considerable random element.  The DFS folks have demonstrated the analogy quite clearly, in that you can be positive EV with enough application of time and effort, but still have to manage bankroll to avoid bad beats.

For those of us like you and I playing season-long, we have to accept the same principles.  Each season is like a single hand.  Sometimes your opponent draws the inside straight and you get beat bad.  But on the balance, it's likely to even out and go back to being fun the next season.

If nothing else, you're building memories.  I remember the first time I had one of those seasons where I started 0-whatever, and faced the week's high-scorer every single week.  The fact that I eventually broke my losing streak around 0-9 because, with my opponent leading by 1 point, his QB Steve McNair knelt three times at the end of his game, removing a rushing point and leaving me 0-9-1 is the sort of tale I'll never forget.  Wouldn't have happened without the bad start.

Had to laugh at the irony today. Earlier in the week someone dropped Melvin Gordon. I'd let waivers run without putting in a claim and had jumped to top priority. I of course put a claim in for Gordon. It's a new league with some inexperienced players. The person in question posts in the WhatsApp group that he accidentally dropped Gordon and had instead meant to drop Montgomery ( a silly move in itself ). He's a first time player and it's a orettt chill league so we did a vote and decided to allow him to have Gordon back and to drop Ty. I would of course been the one to win Gordon and have him on my team, but I'm fine with it. Screw it, better to have the feel good factor amongst everyone.

However, I'll admit to finding it a slightly more bitter pill when I realize I'm playing that dude this week, and Gordon proceeds to get around 30 odd pts essentially winning him the week !

I at least got Ty Montgomery I guess.  Having an RB corps of Bell, Martin, Montgomery, Mixon and Abdullah is pretty great. With Gronk and my 'weakness' being a decentish WR duo in Hill and Cooks

Two different leagues - in the league where I have an unbeatable team, they are now 3-2.  In the league where I was hoping for a 4 win season, they are now 5-0.  Such a random game.

About to go 5-0 in one league and 0-5 in another.

They have effectively identical roster setups and scoring rules - and my 0-5 team is currently outscoring my 5-0 one.

So much of this hobby is random.

Off to a good 3-1 start but 4/9 of my starters couldn't finish today due to injuries.

OBJ, Powell, Nelson & Kelce (concussion protocol on Kelce so he could come back if nothing serious).

Traded Aaron Rodgers this week and picked up Deshaun Watson. Also had Wentz as my back up. Started Wentz today who got 42. Watson. Got 40 on my bench. Rodgers played awesome and got 23.

Great week.  Won in both money leagues and 4-1 in both.  Seems I have a legitimate shot to win some money in both.

Also eagles win and cowboys lost.

Great week

This is now a brag
From a vent to a brag with all that garbage time ####.

I thought I had the same thing with OBJ's day ... then it went back to a vent.  :lmao:

The worst part about ODB's injury is that I own him in dynasty and the week prior I traded for AB to make a title run. Ugh.

So this team looked pretty good to start the season.  12-team superflex (8 starters among up to 2QB, 3RB, 5WR, 3TE)

QB: Newton, Bortles

RB: Bell, DJ, Howard, Gilislee, Powell

WR: Green, Hilton, Watkins, Tyrell, Hurns

TE: Fleener

DEF: Denver, New England

Between losing DJ and guessing wrong on Watkins every. single. week.  I'm staring 1-4 in the face, unless Howard outscores Murray by 3+ tonight.

Nothing to brag about, Dak (30.74) was my only player with 20+, but having 12/14 score on double digits is kinda cool - tryna to idiot proof my roster.

Solid core & good pickups in Fuller, Funchess, ASJ. Got Martin back after Cook went down, feels like a wash. In 3rd place & feeling confident about my chances.

I would have kept Gordon.  That's a lesson he will remember

Down a ton with SNF left - I have Kelce, D. Watson, Hopkins.  Opponent has Alex Smith.   12 team 0.5 ppr.

Even with a first half Watson to Hopkins TD - I'm still down around 30.   Go to bed and wake up at midnight to see I'm actually WINNING by 0.8 points and game is over!

Then wake up this morning and Yahoo implemented a stat correction for my Pitt D and took off 1 point (incorrectly gave them a 4 down stop I guess) and now I'm losing by 0.12 points.

Without a favorable stat correction Thurs am I'll fall to 1-4.   Our two scores will top the league.   Unbelievable.

Fell asleep in 3rd quarter with a commanding lead over Watson/Hopkins only to wake up and see I lost due to last TD with no time left ... now 2-3 ..

Up 41 going into tonight. Had Cohen he had McKinnon and Rudolph. Losing now. Thanks fox for Benny Cunningham.

Oh and I had the 2nd highest score.

Needed 23 to win going into tonight.....had Trubisky, Diggs and Cohen vs his nobody.....and I lost. Unreal.

McKinnon on my bench to make it worse.

Got clever and picked up Nick Folk since he won't have a bye ROS.

Probably won't have a job ROS either, but thanks for the -1 you piece of ####.
Annnnnnnnnnnd, I lost by 0.5.  Could have started Garo ####### Ypremian and won this week, but NOOOOOOOOOOO.

Lost a game by .7 points because of a flawed DST scoring system.  I had the Steeler's D which gave up 16 points but the Jags scored 30 because of their own defensive TDs.  The full 30 points counted against my defense.  Such a ridiculous way to score DST.

ESPN has it standard that Defensive scores don't count against the opposing DST.  Well at least my league does and I don't think our commish is savvy enough to change any settings.

ESPN changed their DST scoring settings and it was a great move.  Why all leagues have not figured this out is just odd.  It makes zero sense to count points against the DST when they are not on the field.

Grieving.....10 team IDP league and I am 0-5.....never would have guessed it with this roster-

QB- Winston, A Smith

RB- Freeman, Howard, Cook, Henry, Coleman, Cohen

WR- Dez, Thielen, Lockett (count PR/KR yds), T Williams

TE- Olsen, Fleener

K- Crosby

DL- Hunter, Hughes, Graham, D Lawrence

LB- Wagner, J Brown Timmons

CB- A Jackson (PR/KR yds have been nice), Waynes, X Howard

S- Peppers, Jefferson, Byard

Injuries, bad lineup decisions and just plain bad luck......playing for next year now!

2 QB league and I thought I'd be GOLD with Brees & Ryan. NOOOOOOPE!

Went from an 81% favorite at 2p CDT to a 93% dog at 3:45 CDT.

6 weeks into the season and I have zero TDs from the RB position.  PPR league and I have James White, D Murray and Lamar Miller.  I benched Murray his 75 yd TD game.  Benched Miller his 2 TD game. White doesn't have a single TD.  About to lose to a team who has 2 guys (including her QB and WR) on bye in her starting lineup sending me to 1-5.  Unbelievable how much I hate this game

In my Franchise League, I opened the year with this lineup:

QB - Rodgers, RB - D Johnson & Elliot, WR - AJ Green,  Dez & K Allen

Beat that, I thought.  5 - 0 start but its all about to fall apart.  And my first loss will be to my brother in law!

HFS -

A Rodgers, D Johnson, G Olsen, A Cooper, T Pryor & D Murray were 5 of my first 6 picks. FML

I'll be in dead last after today and have nowhere to turn.  Worst fantasy season I've had in 10 years.

Lost Rodgers and still won my week but now have to start rivers unless I make some kind of trade.

What a down grade. Maybe someone drops a decent QB?  I doubt it though

My first 6 picks:  OBJ, Zeke, Dalvin, Tate, E Sanders, Winston. All now out for a while or done.

I give up.
