Bragging, venting, crowing, grieving... (1 Viewer)

This week was the last of our regular season, and I was fighting for the #1 seed overall and total points leader (Super Bowl winner wins $300, total points winner wins $800).

I had numerous tough starter decisions to make this week;

McCown or Keenum, who to play with Ertz out Kroft or Trey Burton, PK Elliot or Coons, and starting the Ravens D or picking up a scrub defense off waivers.

With 10 minutes before kickoff, I snagged the Colts D and started them in the SnowBowl, swapped Keenum for McCown, swapped Burton in for Kroft, and benched Elliot for Coons. Each move paid of HUGELY.

Keenum 23 vs. McCown -6

Burton 33 vs. Kroft 0

Coons 21 vs. Elliot 22

Colts 17 vs. Raven -5

These moves gave me 83 more points than had I stayed with my initial lineup, and I easily won my game to be the #1 seed and only 9 points out of top in total points.

17 freaking points I needed from Brady...sitting at under 2 right now.

Reminds me of a playoff game a few years ago...maybhave even been the finals when I needed like 10 points from Luck.  He had something like -2 against dallas before getting pulled from the game as they rested him for the next week.

I should have started Mitch Trubisky...FFS he is getting outplayed by Jay Cutler

I was up 11 points with no players left. My opponent had Brady and cooks. Obvious loss right? Well until that last pass to cooks I was up 3 points. All Miami needed was a first down and I would've won the most miraculous game ever. Instead I wallow in misery wondering what could've been if kamara just didn't get hurt.

I will miss the playoffs on a total points tiebreaker. I finished 15 behind the other guy. I lost David Johnson, Allen Robinson, Josh McCown, Alvin Kamara, Chris Thompson, and Dalvin Cook to in-game injuries (meaning the guy got injured when in my starting lineup). Pretty sure there was 15 points in there somewhere.

Thanks to Drake doing well and Gronk being stupid my #6 seed team that had the 4th most points in the league gets to advance!  Finally get a cheap win when it counts after so many bad beats earlier on.

Finally got some luck come my way. Was on the cusp of the playoff in 2 leagues and made it by the skin on my teeth. Got one win by less than one point (praying for no score corrections) and a team above me not getting 6 DEF points from NE in his match. In another league, in a win or go home match for both of us I was 8 of 10 in points scored, luckily my opponent was 9 of 10.

Weird year.  My two teams that started hot at 4-1 both got bounced in the first round. My other two that started 1-4 snuck into the playoffs and are still alive.

F Tom Brady and the Patriots

That is all
I was up 11 points with my opponent having Dion Lewis and Gostkowski. In the end I only lost by 9 points. The fact that the Pats just crapped the bed pisses me off even more.

If Collins had gotten one of those 2 TD's that effin Javorious Allen got or had Alex Smith connected on one of the several doable passes to Kelce I would have won.

Last year was a down year for me in FFB. While I made a lot of correct calls, it didn't manifest in a playoff appearance in either of my leagues. In my IDP 12-team PPR league I was the points leader by 300+ for the season. And yet I went 4-10.  In 13/14 weeks I was the 2nd highest scoring team. In a bad BYE week I still would have outscored 7/12 teams. Ended up with 10%.

In my D/ST 12-teamer, I had the injury bug bad. And Arian Foster retired in week 3.  My #s 1-6 picks were all hurt or (ugh) retired by week 6 and I was out of contention by week 8.

I'm pretty sure I vented in here about it all then. It was cathartic. :(

So it's fun to come in here & brag a little that I'm the #1 Seed in the IDP league, though not the points leader (4th). I lost Wentz (22nd round), but drafted Russell Wilson in the 8th as a bargain QB, 7th off the board. (Rogers 2nd, Brees 4th, Brady 4th, Cousins 5th, Carr 6th, Ryan 7th). Solid team, stacked D, though might lose Landon Collins at the worst possible time. There are a lot of high upside DBs though. Best of all in here, because the wildcard came from my division, I play the 3-seed. While the 3-seed is a tough team, both the wildcard team and the 2 seed are both stronger rosters top to bottom. In the IDP league the losers of week 15 play for 3rd plays 4th in week 16 for $75/50 respectively, so at the worst some of my season is paid for.

In my D/ST PPR league I won my division on a "win & in: game, and play the team that's been my nemesis for 14 years. Dude has knocked me out of the playoffs 3 times, and beaten me in the championship twice - in a league I've lost 3 LCGs and never won one. So it is with great enthusiasm that I hope to finally win a critical game against him. In the past I've beaten myself with 2nd guessing roster moves. This time I've got a pretty obvious starting lineup other than QB (and I have 3 pretty good options) so I'm unlikely to play the "if & I'd-a" game afterwards.

Good luck to all of the playoff teams. Unless you're starting guys I'm playing against. ;)

I lost and got eliminated by a few points thanks to the Eagles defensive TD with no time left on the failed Rams lateral.  To make matters worse I would have been the #1 seed and won easily this week if I had not lost earlier in the year when the Chiefs scored a defensive TD with no time on the clock when the Redskins failed at their lateral play.  Highest scoring team in the league, but no luck.  I hate FF sometimes.

When I saw that play I knew someone would get screwed on it

That sucks. I hate team defense in fantasy. I played in leagues with team defense many years because it is a default setting and accepted. I have also played in IDP leagues but there are issues with that too.

My worst experience with team defenses came in 2011 or 2012. I lost a game 110.50 to 105.75 (something like that anyway; I lost by less than six points) where I had the Steelers defense and my opponent had Ben Roethlisberger. Roethlisberger threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown. I lost points and my opponent did not! The Steelers defense did not allow that touchdown!

I have read your last paragraph 10 times and am still confused.

I owned the Steelers defense. The Steelers offense allowed a touchdown because Roethlisberger threw an interception that was returned for a touchdown- a pick six as the kids like to call it.

My opponent owned Roethlisberger.

The league settings did not call for quarterbacks to lose points if they threw an interception.

Your team defense would get a fantasy point total based upon how many sacks, fumbles, and interceptions it recorded and how many points it allowed.

So, my opponent, the Roethlisberger owner, lost no points due to his terrible play.

My team defense lost points due to that play even though my team defense was not on the field when those points were lost.

See, the problem was "points allowed by team defense" was really not that. It was really points allowed by the entire Steelers team. It was total nonsensical BS.

There are League settings now that allow for offensive points against defense instead of total points against team defense

I started Stafford (19.8) and Kelce (10.6) against his Gordon (28.9) and Hunt (44.6).

Needless to say, I'm in a deep, dark hole. Double FML.

What could have been; if I survived last week id finally get to start;

Rodgers

Freeman(wo Coleman)/Gio

Jordy/AJG/Davante

Gronk

Ravens or JAX

Elliot

The GB stack going down really leveled me, but looking forward to watching it today.

I started Keenum who is having a decent game but the way this score is, he will be running the ball the entire 3rd quarter and sitting out the 4th. come on bengals show some life you jokers

Going against Gurley.  I hate fantasy football.   Having highest score in league by far, and then losing in the first round sucks.

At least the third time for me in the last decade I've led my long time redraft league in scoring and been bounced from the first round.

In fact I have 6 firsts, no seconds, no thirds, and about 5 4th place finishes. Playoffs just are what they are, and you have to be content you did your best over the long haul.

Fournette’s injury had me starting Jamaal Williams and Alex Collins. Without my RB1, I also ran into the buzzsaw that was the combo of Kareem Hunt and Le’Veon Bell.

Fun season, but sucks I didn’t even get to play my best hand in going out.
