Brandon Jackson will not carry the load (1 Viewer)

Marshawn Lynch anyone?
All reports out of Green Bay and Buffalo say there's nothing happening on that front. It's also wildly out of character for Thompson to part with top draft picks in a trade for a player.
This just showed up in the news feed:Bills | Marshawn Lynch trade talks heats up following Week 2from Footballguys.com News BloggerThe rumored trade between Buffalo Bills RB Marshawn Lynch and Green Bay Packers LB A.J. Hawk only intensified after Lynch got the bulk of the backfield work in the team's Week 2 game, according to Allen Wilson, of The Buffalo News. However, the Bills may be hesitant to trade Lynch if they are concerned RB Fred Jackson could get hurt again. Our View: The Bills featured Lynch in their game against Green Bay in hopes of sparking these trade discussions. If moved to the Packers Lynch would be reunited with Aaron Rodgers as the two played together in college at Cal. We'll see if a deal between the two sides gets done in the near future.
I just don't understand this stuff.Nowhere in that article do we get a direct quote from Buffalo or Green Bay. Trade rumors heated up on message boards, largely aided by reporter speculation. It's possible a report is out there with quotes from either team. But that last I heard from the teams themselves, nothing is happening.
Watching the game last Sunday, it was pretty evident that something was up. Packers Defense and Lynch got up from every play smiling and patting each other on the back while shoving contests were still going on with other Bill's players. Rodgers played together at Cal, Rodgers has been quoted saying he trusts him in the backfield.Originally I didn't think there was a chance the Packers would trade that high of draft pick that the Bills probably want (3rd), especially mid-season. But watching the game it looked like there was a chance the deal was already in place.

Agreed. So far there hasn't been a report that the two teams are engaging in trade talks. It's all been speculation that the two teams should engage in trade talks. Wilde reported last night that no talks are going on. National reporters like Schefter have reported nothing is happening. While something could happen on this front at the present time there isn't any evidence that indicates the two teams are talking. It's just a bunch of rumors by people who believe they should be talking.

Packers coach Mike McCarthy and offensive coordinator Joe Philbin have indicated that they don't see Brandon Jackson as a carry-the-load back going forward.McCarthy still plans to have Jackson on the field for a starter's snap-count, but his carries will be limited. Packers coaches don't trust Jackson's body to hold up to the toll of 18-20 touches per game, and he's still too valuable as a situational passing-down back. Barring a trade, Jackson will continue to split touches with John Kuhn and Dimitri Nance. Those who blew their waiver wire budget on Jackson will be disappointed to learn that he's not going to be a reliable RB2. Sep. 21 - 11:27 pm etSource: ESPN Milwaukee
This isn't news to many of us... we tried telling everyone after Grant went down that BJax was not going to be the guy, in fact when he was drafted originally some here on this board were vocal that Jackson coming in was not starter material. He wasn't then, isn't now.

DeShawn Wynn was cut today, further complicating the picture in my opinion. Adding Wynn off the street strikes me as likely more appealing to Ted Thompson than giving up a 3rd or a starter for Lynch.

The situation seems to be very fluid. What makes me like BJax the best out of the lot, though (and correct me if I'm wrong, Packers fans) is that he is the best receiving threat and blocker of the bunch, on a team that does a lot of passing. It's better to roster these guys and hope they pan out then let them fall to someone else's roster and watch from the fantasy sidelines.
OK, but the this makes no sense. I doubt he's being held in to block much.
Unless of course you value your franchise QB
maybe i'll try another angle here.if he's being kept in blocking (partly due to his impoved skills) more often, and therefore less involved in the actual passing game, then what's the upside if he can catch the ball?

either way, i think we're debating 1st and 2nd downs (along with the short yardage) more here.
