So I dropped him right before the games on Sunday, and now I want to shot myself anyone have any words of encouragement?

ryan grant will probably come back before you know it, rendering jackson a cute, but unspectacular free agent grab for people this week.

at least you and i can both hope.

Yeah, start a thread about it on some message board . . . and feel like an even bigger loser.

yeah...Jackson looked very pedestrian out there on Sunday..Grant was tearing up the Eagles' D, and Jackson just looked like he was running in mud..he'll do well against Buffalo, but not great..he'll probably avg 3.8 per carry or something like that..he's an ordinary back..hope that makes you feel better..you didn't drop the next Chris Johnson :D

Thinking Grant might be out for more then 1 game

McCarthy: RB Grant damaged ankle ligament

Ryan Grant - RB - GB - Sep. 14 - 1:00 a.m. ET

Though the Packers are still awaiting tests for confirmation, coach Mike McCarthy indicated Monday that Ryan Grant may have sustained ligament damage in his sprained right ankle.

"It's a significant injury to the ankle and the ligament involved," McCarthy said, refusing to rule out surgery. Grant was vague when asked about the extent Monday, calling himself "week to week." A Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel article makes it sound like Grant is in danger of missing several games. Brandon Jackson will be the primary back, with John Kuhn as his powerful "change of pace." Kuhn is worth a look as the presumptive favorite for goal-line carries.

Grant was not tearing it up early. He had some nice runs right before he got hurt.Jackson came in and had some nice runs on some drives too.He did look pedestrian late when they were trying to run out the clock and the Eagles knew they were running.I think he does pretty well against Buffalo but not so sure after that.

after that he has Chi and Detroit. if grant is out 3 weeks or so it could be a nice little run, especially for those Shonn Greene owners who will be hoping for an LDT injury in the next couple of weeks to save their season

Don't expect a ton. He is a significantly better pass catcher then he is a runner. Also, it isn't like Buffalo is a terrible defense. They held a quality Miami running game to what 3.7 ypc?

Jackson is going to be there for a while ... assuming he does not get hurt himself or GB brings in anther RB (they probably will this week)

It'sbeing called a Significant ankle injury and he likely sustained ligament damage ... they are waiting for results to confirm it.

McCarthy won't rule out surgery.

Do you really think it will be 1-3 weeks?

In my opinion Grant is likely done for the year as an effective fantasy option

Don't underestimate the role of John Kuhn in filling in while Grant is out. McCarthy loves Kuhn. He had the play of the game (in my opinion, and Bob McGinn's) in the third qtr. when he carried a few Eagle defenders for a 12 yd. gain up the middle on 2nd and 9 in the red zone. Two plays later he walked into the end zone for the Packers only rushing TD. McCarthy used Kuhn several times as the only back in the single back set. He's got no fantasy value, but will affect Jackson's value while Grant is out, especially if BJ fumbles early or can't get going against the Bills.

I'm using my #1 waiver priority on him. I'm not expecting much, but I'd rather go down swinging than looking. I could use some short term help while guys like Wells, JStew, and M. Bush provide me with nothing.

My initial thought was to look into a trade FOR Ryan Grant now that I have Jackson in the fold.

If it is a dreaded HAS it could linger the whole season.

I'll post this here for all the armchair coaches who are just basing assumptions off of their own fantasy rosters, it seems...

Packers coach Mike McCarthy says he believes No. 2 RB Brandon Jackson is capable of being "an every-down back" if Ryan Grant goes down.

"He's a complete football player," said McCarthy. "If we had to play all three downs with him, I wouldn't even blink." The subject came up because Grant was concussed in Green Bay's preseason opener, though he could resume practicing as soon as Tuesday. Jackson has become a better handcuff for Grant owners with James Starks unable to recover from a hamstring tear.

Sounds to me like McCarthy is pretty fine with Jackson as AN EVERY DOWN BACK.....

He'd better be ... they don't have another back

Significant ankle injury with ligament damage sounds bad. I actually thought of trading cutler to the owner that has the first waiver priority to get him.

Hmmm... I typically believe everything coaches say in preseason. :goodposting:

FYI - I have no fantasy rosters this year, so my opinion of Jackson has nothing to do with my non-existent FF team. He sucks. Good third down RB, not a great runner.

I'm sure the OP found your post very helpful
Yeah, because this thread was all about that:

Exactly! It boggles my mind that people are acting like they are getting some savior on the waiver wire here. Best case scenario you get a good RB3. I'd be shocked if Jackson finished as a top-20 RB by year's end. This is the same guy who couldn't beat out a way over the hill and not in game shape Ahman Green a year ago. He's worth picking up(all starting RB's are) but he'll be a very low end starter, closer to a guy like Caddy than to what Grant was.

Most likely GB will just lead the league in pass attempts, and that may have happened anyway. From an NFL standpoint, this was probably the biggest injury of week 1, and I don't think the Packers are going to just plug in Jackson and be fine.

Best case scenario you get an RB3?If you think he will be ok enough to be used all year for the Packers. You would agree at at least 15 carries and a few receptions every game. At even just 4 yards per carry thats 900 yards...add in 5-8 TDs and that is high end RB3 if not RB2 numbers. Especially adding in some nice reception numbers.I don't think he will be as good as Grant. But you have right now the unquestioned starter in a top offense.I don't think people think the guy is super talented...just in a great situation and talented enough to put up decent numbers for FF.

From a fantasy football perspective he is an add. PPR format he has probably low, low RB2 potential but probably solid RB3 potential. Non-PPR he will be a flex rotational player maybe a little better.

From a football perspective he just isn't that good. He gets buzz from an FF perspective based on opportunity.
