Brandon Jacobs vs Dallas II (1 Viewer)

I think he will run like a mad man vs. Dallas on Sunday, or scared. Let me hear your thoughts....

Also, is Tank Johnson playing this week?

Wow, way to go out on a limb. :goodposting:

I think that although the Giants have the hosses to compete in a shootout with Dallas, the smart play here is to give Jacobs 20-25 carries to not only keep the Boys O off the field, but to wear down the defense in the 2nd half. I'm looking at a modest YPC, 25 rushes, 90 yards, 1 TD and about 15 yards receiving.

Yes. Tank has been activated, and reports are that he will play.

Jacobs will have a nice, nice day against the pokes. Unless they are down by 21 by halftime.

I'm not expecting too much out of him either. I also don't like the fact that they like to bring in Reuben Droughns in goalline situations.

I'm going with Fatdale against the Jags defense instead...Jags will be missing Stroud and they gashed them last time.

I love me some Jacobs. But this week doesn't feel right. The Boys are pretty stout against the run. I think there will be big plays for the touchdowns and BJ won't be in on them.

I think some of you are mistaken. The Giants can run against any team in the league not dressed in a purple hue, and Jacobs made his mark against (on) Roy Williams and the Pokes last year. The Cowboys safeties will be doubling Burress, and the holes will be there. The goalline carries Droughns has been seeing have been part situational and part an effort to save wear and tear on Jacobs as he bounced back from his knee/ankle. In an important divisional game like this, Jacobs will be the man in the red zone. I'd say 115 total yards and 1.5 TDs sounds about right.

Only a handful of backs would I start over Jacobs this week.

I fully endorse this candidate.

A few thoughts..

I don't see the shootout we saw earlier this season. T. Newman didn't play and will be on Plex. The Giants D-line and Boys front seven are much healthier. Both teams overall are getting stronger and both are rolling right now. One edge to NY will be the bye week but maybe not so much do to the London game.

Jacobs will get his if he can stay healthy. This will be a very hard hitting game. It's a huge swing game in the NFC east standings. Giants win and there tied with Dallas. Dallas wins and they basically take a three game lead by owning the tiebreaker.

I expect a tough game that may come down to special teams play and kicking game.

I think Jacobs will have a solid game. The last time Dallas went against a pass offense this good was New England.

Not that the Giants are that good, but what happened in that game is Dallas was very solid vs. the run early but just wore down. New England ended up having a solid day running the ball only after Dallas was basically spent.

I look for Dallas to stop the run early but as the day wears on, I look for the big fellow to get better. Should be a good game.

Jacobs only lasted for six carries versus Dallas in their first meeting. He'll be lucky to make it half as long this time around.

Expect 2 carries for 5 yards.

He'll leave with a shoulder, knee, ribs, foot, etc. injury.

It is what he does.

It is who he is.

Since you have skills at predicting injuries and such can you break out your crystal ball and tell me how many carries Sjax will get this week before his back or leg gives out TIA

What kept you? I had the under/over at 6. You're slipping.

I have no respect for anyone that promotes injuries to professional atheletes. Can the mods ban this idiot?

Do we need to get you a dictionary so you know the difference between predict and promote? :lmao:

Let's not get too excited about Jacobs last four games. Here are the stats and in parenthesis the rank of the rushing defense he faced:

Week 5 N.Y. Jets (29th) 20-100, 1 TD

Week 6 @ Atlanta (23rd) 13-86

Week 7 San Fran (24th) 18-107, 1 TD

Week 8 @ Miami (31st) 23-131

Most backs have been putting up those types of numbers against those teams. Now he faces the 5th-ranked running defense giving up only 84 yards total and he may have to share some carries. I'd say 65 yards is the ceiling with a TD if you're lucky.

I have no problem with the personal insult, but I do have an issue with the miscomprehension. I am not promoting injury. Jacobs has had a problem staying healthy, any player who has a history of not finishing games must have that tendency factored into their projection. Jacobs has started five games and finished three, and missed three others completely. It is because of his track record that leads me to expect him to not be able to last very long this week.

Dallas has more wins than the four teams listed above combined (5-28). Do these teams lose because they have a bad rush defense, or do they have a bad rush defense statistically because they have been trailing in games virtually all season, and opponents run to maintain a lead and milk the clock?I think it's a little bit of both, but don't underestimate the correlation between losing and allowing rushing yards. Of the bottom 15 teams in rushing yards allowed per game, only one has a winning record (Cleveland).Clearly, the matchup with Dallas is not as appealing as the four previous games, in part because of the Dallas defense, and maybe more because of the Dallas offense and its potential to get a lead and force teams to pass more. Still, Jacobs is capable of having a solid performance. Certainly I pay attention to matchups, but you can take it too far. For example, many matchups appeared to be more favorable than Adrian Peterson's last week. Jacobs is no Peterson, but he and the Giants offense are having success on the ground. I don't see that totally disappearing due to having to face a stronger run defense.

It`s pete and repeat...the itchy brothers(the itch you just can`t reach :lmao: )

RB Brandon Jacobs leads the team with 450 yards on just 80 carries, a lofty 5.6 yards per carry, and has been the only Giant to provide even a semblance of "bulletin-board" material leading up to this game. "I hate Dallas," he said. "When I was growing up (in rural Louisiana), everybody rooted for the Cowboys and that's why I hate them." :hot:

In the Miami game, the Giants started out passing and went three and out. The coaching staff received alot of heat about that. Based on that, but more from a desire to control the clock and keep Dallas' offence off the field, I would expect the Giants to try to establish a running game.

If they get stuffed the first two series and Dallas score 7+, that would likely change and they'd look to the air more. Tank Johnson may have a major role in this. Although he's only slated to play one-third of the game and only first and second downs (I believe that was from NFL.com), if he comes up strong (questionable considering what may be weak conditioning) in the first couple series, Jacobs may have a very sub-par game.

Jacobs talked smack before the first game too (something about him whupping up on the cowboys) but that didn't seem enough to keep him on the field. I don't expect this to be the game some people think it will be. Dallas is going to overpower the Giants on both sides of the ball. I agree with the previous poster that expects Jacobs to get maybe 65 yards and maybe 1 TD.

I said maybe 1 TD. Could just be 6 pts.

I get points for yards also...65 + td = 12...for me , maybe not so much for you.

 Jacobs is in no position to talk any smack after limping off the field :bye: in their last game.

(scratch,scratch,scratch)

Every time I see a thread about Jacobs, I open it fully expecting to see the HK "He's so injury prone" post. It's predictably amusing at this point.

To the actual point of this thread, The Giants are a completely different team than they were in that first game. Their Defense is NOW one of the best in the league at getting pressure on the QB, and their offensive line has been run-blocking the bejeezus out of everyone. I see the Cowboys still winning, but I think it will be a pretty good game for Jacobs as the Giants try and eat up the clock and keep Romo off the field.

My projection is currently:

25/120/1, 4/25/0
