Brandon Jones Bandwagon pulling out of the station (1 Viewer)

Got the same response when I took Gates last year. Considering he was probably taken in the last 2-3 rounds, if at all, in most leagues, Gates '04 has to be the best value pick in fantasy history.
<hijack>I can do you one better. I KEPT Antonio Gates in a keep-nine league prior to the '04 season! About half the league said "Who?" and the other half said "You're high, man." Needless to say, it was a decent call on my part......</hijack> ;)

I'd be curious how you feel where he will rank at end of season compared to some of the other WR40+ guys like:

Travis Taylor

Joey Galloway

Arnaz Battle

Michael Jenkins

Kevin Curtis
My order, EOY:Galloway

Battle

B. Jones

Jenkins

Taylor

Curtis

Unless Ike is gone for more than 4 or 5 weeks, which I don't think wil happen.
Marc,How would this change if you project NEXT year's performance? And can I throw another name into the ring for 2006: Troy Williamson

I'm not gonna do that here - one thing I will comment on is that in dynasty leagues, BJones, Jenkins, Curtis and Williamson all have more value than Battle, Taylor and Galloway.

Tennessee Titans WR Brandon Jones, a rookie, has surpassed WR Tyrone Calico as the team's No. 2 wide receiver.

Titans | Calico Bumped from No. 2 Spot

Fri, 30 Sep 2005 17:35:09 -0700

Tennessee Titans WR Tyrone Calico has been replaced as the team's No. 2 wide receiver by rookie WR Brandon Jones.
Info is from KFFL, nice call on Jones this pre-season guys!

Dynasty wise, where do you see Chris Henry in this list? Similar skills but with more talent ahead of him?

I'm higher than most on Henry. I would put him on the top of that list for a dynasty league. He's the #3 in an explosive offense. 1 injury and he's a WR3/4 option IMO. I think he's already gained Carson's trust ....as he threw it up for grabs to him 1-on-1 vs. the Bears #1 Charles Tillman for his TD.

This thread definitely has me thinking about picking up BJones...Any thoughts on dropping Moulds for BJones?Start 2 league, non-ppr, currently have rostered CJohnson, Roy Williams, R Ferguson, and Moulds

I dropped Moulds for Jones.... I just don't have high faith in the Buffalo passing offense until they figure out how to protect the QB.

I am thinking about picking him up as well and drop Lee Evans who I have no confidence in as long as JP is their QB. Engram is also available in my league (one guy just dropped him), so I am torn between the two. Jones probably has greater upside, but Engram is the safer pickup.

just dropped moulds for b. jones after keeping him for the last 5 years. he was great at times, and the worst at times. it feels good to finally drop him and stop wondering when/if he will return to form regardless of which qb throws the ball.i am hoping b. jones can turn into a decent keeper option this year since i seem to have been burnt by burelson.

Might wanna put the train back in the station. That was a pretty pathetic performance in a game which saw McNair air it out 37 times.

no - he'll be fine.Bennett did worse - shall we drop him, too?The deal is that the Colts allowed the TEs to run free all day and doubled up on both WRs. The TEs had 18 catches and McNair was forced to run at least 4 times - indicates the underneath and middle was open all day and the outside receivers were all well covered.

no - he'll be fine.
He was anything but fine and yes I'm bitter because I started him with Horn out. :)

If you were counting on Bennett to be a WR1 this season well that's a whole nother discussion entirely. :)

Yup and I do think he'll be a good WR but I'm not sure he'll be anything more than a sporadic WR3 option and it'll be hard to start him because of that most weeks. I'm mainly steamed at myself for buying into the hype this week. I was torn between Jones and Colbert as my WR4 this week and I really think Colbert has a shot to deliver this week for the reasons I've mentioned in other threads. I went with Jones because he's been playing better and I went against my gut in the process. So I'm more mad at myself than Brandon Jones.Although it's cloes. ;)

1) I didn't say he "was" fine - I said he WILL BE fine. ;)2) noone should have counted on Bennet as a WR1 - as your WR2, he should be fine.3) yes, you are bitter. LOL! If you re-read MY posts in BJones, I indicate he may emerge as a decent starting WR3 over the next few weeks and is currently a guy to add to your bench hoping he'd emerge. I do not believe anything I posted could be construed as "get him and start him" advice.

I know; I was just letting him have it again. Did I mentioned I'm a little steamed? ;)

Perhaps. We'll see.

DAMN RIGHT. :D Seriously, this is a good example of not trusting your gut. Everything about this week's Panthers-Packers game tells me Colbert is going to do well or has a chance to do well. And I ignored that and went with the guy who's been solid, but nothing special so far. We'll see what Colbert does tomorrow night but I should've rolled the dice and trusted my gut.

True. But I do think a game like this points out how fragile his potential standing as a WR3 option is. If he can't deliver in a game where the Titans threw all day long, that does raise some red flags or potential red flags. Like I said, I like him but he looks like about 20 other WRs out there, many of whom are probably available on many league's WW's right now.

Who?I can easily see a slew of players being available on certain leagues' ww's that would be better or as good.

But, that's the thing about sleepers. Stash 'em, keep an eye on 'em , and hope. Don't grab 'em and start 'em. If you see other receivers on your WW with better upside or more steady production, by all means grab them.

For me, I ditched Colbert - who has done LESS than BJones so far this year - for BJOnes as my WR5 - The only week I will see my WR5 in my lineup is whenever the Seahawks are on a bye - I have DJax, RSmith, DDriver, Bobby Engram and BJones - unless one of those first three misses extended games, I am not ever going to use BJones unless he becomes explosive.

That said, his upcoming schedule is STILL sweet and it is WAY early to state that his train should be put back in the station.

We can officially call him worthless now.
I am not ready to "officially" call him worthless, but he is definitely behind Kinney, Troupe, and Bennett on the target numbers.I expected that, but I figured more than a few targets - and he is only getting a handful per game.

From a fantasy perspective, he's clearly worthless. There are probably a few No. 4 WRs who are getting more targets than he is. Keep him on your bench in a keeper league, but in redrafts he has no value. If he can't get passes thrown his way against the Texans there's no hope for him.

Brandon Jones - WR - Tennessee

I know I saw a thread on him a few days ago, but I am alerting everyone to get on the bandwagon now. Go snag him off your WW before it is too late.

He's def. still under my main money league's radar, and I'm dropping Keary Colbert for him this week.

First three games, second game was his first start, it was versus that great Baltimore pass D in a game where McNair went 19 for 36.

Check it:

Game/Opponent/Targets/catches/yards/TDs

1 PIT 2/2/30

2 BAL 6/2/29

3 STL 9/5/40/1

natural progression - and Tennessee faces:

IND @HOU CIN @ARI OAK @CLE

Until their bye in week 10.

Over these last three weeks, he has jumped from to 7% to 16% to 23% of McNair's targets and the kid had an OUTSTANDING preseason - OUTSTANDING.

You want this kid - and if you are in a dynasty league and he is somehow still available, jump even faster on him.

Get on him now if you can stash him b/c within three weeks he will be out of pocket for you. I predict by the Cincie game it wil be apparent that he is, or nearly is, worth an every week start from the WR3 spot.
Huge kudos to Marc for putting this guy back on my radar. I added him where ever possible after reading this post. Should be productive the rest of the year.Big  to Marc for not putting his name in the title so I could easily search for the thread.

Good call - I actually didn't expect the thread to get much play. Editing now.

He's been the subject of an OFFICIAL Otis  thread since August. We here at Camp Otis love this kid. He will be the best rookie WR and has the potential to be a top-flight NFL WR.

Torn between Doug Gabriel and B. Jones right now. Need to replace that horrid Henry pickup last week.
I would take Jones. With Bennett out Jones becomes the #1 guy and when Bennett comes back he's still #2.

jumped on the train 5 minutes ago. Dropped Bennett for him...may regret that, but can't wait around to see when Bennett is coming back.

Did the same.I also picked up Gabriel on my other team since I have Moss and not sure about him.

Need two WR this week due to injuries and bye issues. Claimed Jones, Gabriel and if I don't get them both, I caimed Hakim. I guess that puts me on board! I didn't need Conwell and Moats (I own Westbrook) on my roster anymore anyway!

How many people are actually thinking of starting him once the train pulls in to AZ station though.
I'll have to. Bennett and Horn (Ouch) Givens and Galloway (Bye). That leaves Rod Smith, Gabriel and Jones (if I get Gab. and Jones on waivers tonight).

Thanks to the injuries to Horn & Jackson, I'll be starting two of either Az Hakim, Jones or Gabriel...Jones will most likely definately be one of the 2 against Arizona. :X

Lee evans, goodbye. Hello B. Jones!
I've given serious consideration to the same. What was the determining factor in your making this decision?
A few:1. Tennessee's schedule is very favorable in the upcoming weeks, buffalo's is not.

2. Holcomb is locked on to Moulds, not Evans.

3. Jones was top 7 in the NFL in targets last week when Bennett got hurt.

4. Ten's defense is so weak they will be forced to air it out.

5. The grass is always greener on the other side. Jones is an unknown, and could break out. He could also do nothing, but if he does have a Mike Clayton circa 2004 (where did he go?) type season, I want him on my team.

By the way, in last week's game, if McNair were even remotely accurate, Jones walks away with 150 and a TD.

I hopped off the Offical Matt Jones Bandwagon to jump on the Official Brandon Jones Bandwagon. And now I may have to start him this week with Randy Moss hurt and Chris Chambers having to play in either a hurricane or a swamp, depending on WIILLLMMMAAAAAAAAA!!!!

Nothing makes me more wary of a guy than a FootballGuys bandwagon! How many of these wagons will I fall for until I learn?Current member of the Chris Henry bandwagon...Former member of the Matt Jones bandwagon...Former member of the Bob Ferguson army...

Partially true. I started him last week so spent some time on that game (LOVE the ticket!). I'd say its about 50/50 bad throws by McNair/rookie hands by BJones. Many of them hit him in the hands. It was slightly frustrating to watch, but, ya... he was targetted enough times to have an INCREDIBLE game last week. I'm hoping for more this week.
