Brandon Webb scoreless inning streak at 40 (1 Viewer)

I went to the game tonight and sat in my usual spot 21 rows behind home plate. Some of his pitches are just wicked. They would start way outside then take an abrupt turn and hit the corner. He could follow that with a pitch that would look the same coming out of his hand that would spin further outside, but the batters would still flail because they were protecting the corner. His fastball is plenty fast, but his 80mph chageup looks the same coming out of his hand. He had an almost 3-1 strike to ball ratio tonight.

Wow, so he throws like a curveball or something?

bfd-.....when he gets around 58-60 innings like Hershiser wake us up. Otherwise 13-8 on a NL West leading team does not exactly scream CY-YOUNG.

The "bfd" is that this has only been done a handful of times in the history of baseball. Yeah, he's 13-8....with a 2.6 ERA....he won the CY Young with a 16-8 record and a 3.1 ERA last year.Do you say "bfd" when someone has a 40 game hitting streak? The only pitchers since 1940 to have a longer streak than Webb are Don Drysdale (58), Bob Gibson (47) and Sal Maglie (45), and of course Orel Hershiser with 59. Guess you are right...doing something only 4 people in the past 70 years have done isn't a big deal.

What an accomplishment! I hope he keeps it up as he is on my fantasy team. I'm sure the D'backs do as well.
