Breaking news: Theisman right for first time ever (1 Viewer)

During the Monday night game last night, Joe Theisman was right for the first time ever. I fell out of my chair. Tie game, Jets have the ball, 2:09 left to play. Theisman proclaims that he would get the ball on a short pass to Leon Washington. Theisman states, he is the only Jet that has been making plays tonight and you have to get him the ball.

The next play Pennington throws a little dump pass to Leon and he takes it and goes for 70 yards to set up the game winner.

I was in such a state of shock. I still am. It has taken me until this time today to be able to even process what happened. Good job Joe.

I am truly shocked. Thiesman is never right. Somebody must have put a gun to his head and forced him to say that. :sarcasm:

A little off topic but I am wondering why Miami didn't go for it on 4th and 1 and settled for a FG for the tie instead of going for the win. What did they have to lose, a better draft spot?

Tony K makes Theismann look like the lost love child of Howard Cosell and Bill Walsh.

Tony said two things last night:

1. "Pennington's arm is really weak."<----Said this at least 6 times.

2. "Boy, we were sitting here knocking Pennington, and look at him get it done..."<----No, Tony, only YOU were knocking his arm, you putz.

Obviously your ears shut down once or twice during the game last night.

couldnt agree more. I would have said f... it. Gone for the TD and make them score a TD to beat me. 2:09 is an eternity in the NFL to just have to get into FG range. It seems teams can almost always get the 40 yards they need at the end of the game if they have 2-3 timeouts and plenty of time. If Miami goes for it and gets it, even if they dont get in the end zone, they burn the clock.

I though Joe T was dumping on Chad a lot more than Tony K. If anything, Kornheiser was pointing out Chad's positive qualities, and basically saying that his arm may not be the strongest, but that he gets the job done. When Chad hit the deep TD to Cotcherry, both of them acknowledged that they had been awfully hard on Chad but he proved them wrong.

It's not clear to me why Chad gets such a hard time. When healthy he is super effective. I mean, there are plenty of QBs with more arm strength whom I'd rather not have (Byron Leftwich, Aaron Brooks, JP Losman, Joey Harrington, Kyle Boller, etc.)

It's also interesting that they mentioned that Pennington has just qualified this season for the all-time records. They didn't mention that he debuted at #2 in NFL history in QB rating.

yeah, a whole 9 seconds...

Korn ball said his dog can throw better than Pennington. Sorry, that is just waaaaay over the top.

On the other hand, I was surprised at how many times Joe T did have some good, astute and accurate commentary during the game. I still think he's awful, but last night's game may have been his best efoort from the booth, ever. I was watching with a bud, and we were both surprised at how many times he nailed something spot on, excepting his stupid comments on Pennington.

They would get to run 1 to 4 more plays if they get the first down, thus running more time off the clock.

You can go ahead and  :hot: me, but I think Joe T is the most underrated of the prime time analysts and I truly enjoy his commentary... :bag:

Pretty sure that's #2 in completion percentage, not QB rating, once he hit the 1500 attempt mark. The luster dulls a bit when you remember that Kurt Warner is number one.
