Brees ahead of schedule (1 Viewer)

Being a FA I find it hard to believe there would be any reports that say he's behind schedule.
Can't wait for him to get signed and start hearing the "behind schedule" reports.

Brees was also on a local sports radio show this morning:

He says he'd accept a one-year deal with the Chargers. They haven't given him a number yet that he thinks is fair, but he's willing to listen to any additional offers they make. He says any deal he does will probably have only one year guaranteed because teams will want to make sure he's fully recovered before committing themsleves beyond that.

AJ has been eluding that the injury Drew sustained was actually more serious than Brees and Condon are publically disclosing.

Dr. James Andrews released an encouraging medical report on Brees' surgically repaired right shoulder that could allow him to participate in a team's mini-camp in May. On Jan. 5, Brees underwent arthroscopic surgery to repair his shoulder capsule and a partially torn rotator cuff. Andrews deemed the surgery successful.

If this is true then it's easy to understand why AJ is playing hardball with the contract.

Wow. That's new. We'd been hearing before that Brees's injury was not like Pennington's because Brees had no rotator cuff damage.

From yesterday's Insider chat with Chris Mortensen:

Mike (Los Banos, CA): What is going on with the Chargers and Drew Brees? Is his shoulder that bad of an injury or are the Chargers being REALLY hard headed?

SportsNation Chris Mortensen: The Chargers are hard-headed. Brees shoulder did not have any rotator cuff damage...he should be ready for the start of the season but I'm not sure the Chargers would change their negotiating posture even if Brees were healthy. He wants to be a Charger. I know that.

All I have to say on this is this. Brees with the Chargers=SuperBowl contender

Chargers without Brees=BIG ????

Yeah, there appears to be conflicting reports. I was always under the impression there was no rotator cuff damage, but AJ has constistently stated that they believe the injury to be more severe than what Drew and Condon are letting on.

Not me.I hope Brees is back to 100% by week 1 and plays well for the rest of his career, if that's on SD or not. He's a class guy and it's just tough not to root for him.

Agreed. But as a Rivers owner, I hope he has success on a different team. :D

Here's another article mentioning the torn rotator cuff. This time it specifically states that the quote referenced is from Dr. Andrews. In the previous article it's difficult to tell who the source was.

Andrews wrote that Brees “had a successful arthroscopic repair of his shoulder capsule and repair of a partial rotator cuff tear.”

That's a serious issue as up to now it's always just been the labrum. Tossing in the rotator cuff damage would decrease Brees' value by a fair margin.

Edit: This is apparently in a report written by Dr. Andrews yesterday. It makes more sense now as to why the current articles are conflicting with the earlier ones.
