Brees owners, let's chat (1 Viewer)

Brees owner here. I'm trying to be patient with my man Mr. Brees. I've convinced myself that Brees' poor production is due to the fact that he's been on the road the first 2 weeks of the season :lmao: (I don't even believe it)

Brees owners, if Drew craps the sheets again this week, is it time to put him on the bench and plug someone else in? Who do you have on the bench? Is this week a make or break week for Brees or am I just panicking over here?

Favre/Derek Anderson on the bench.

I don't think Tenn has a very good pass D, could be wrong. Probably about average IMO. If Brees struggles this week at home vs them. Yeah, I would start benching him and play the match-ups of him vs. whatever other QB you have.

Watch the Saints' offensive line. If they're doing o.k. at pass protection, Brees will be fine in the long run. If they're having big trouble in pass protection, Brees will not do well. I know it's true of all QBs, but Brees really needs to be pressure free to be effective. When guys start getting in his face he really performs poorly. If the line can't give Brees enough time AND clear passing lanes on a consistent basis you'd have to downgrade all your Saints offensive players except maybe McCallister.

The unsung key to success for the 2006 Saints offense was the unexpectedly great play of their offensive line. They meant more to that team than any individual like Brees, Bush or Colston. Can they reproduce that effort this season?

Maybe it's time they thought about promoting Alleman and Bushrod to starting roles? I have those guys on my taxi squad, BTW. :goodposting:

Well, I think Tennessee will get to him this week. They got to Manning and not alot of teams do that. I think Tennessee has a legit pass rush that will give Brees problems Monday night. I still have to start him :goodposting:

If all you have on the bench is Favre and Anderson, you're stuck with Brees for the entire season unless he's hurt. If Brees plays terrible for the next 3 weeks straight, he's still a smarter play every week after that than Favre or Anderson.

How can you say that? 2006 is over. If they can't get it going, I'd think you'd have to start playing Favre. The guy's going to be a passing fool this year as they have no run game and he's one guy who can have success against the Bears.

Brees owner here......I'm still going to start him this week, probably just because I'm hoping the past 2 weeks were a bad dream that I will wake up from. E. Manning warming up on my bench.....J. Campbell behind him.

I disagree...Favre will be throwing the rock alot. I know the Packers are 2-0, but, they will be behind in games going into the 4th quarter. Trust me, I don't love Favre as my QB1, but, he's got value.

Rest at ease...

I just traded T. Romo for D. Brees.....(he sweetened the deal w/ E. James)

I have every that Brees and Romo will finish right next to each other in the final tally....

Brees will come around, and I think the home dome is what will start his rise.

At least this is what I am hoping.

My backup is Schaub. Who has outscored Brees both weeks, but w/o AJ there is not a lot of hope for this week.

Guys, don't overreact just yet on Brees. Week 1 last season 170 yards and 1 TD . He had a solid game in week 2 but came right back in week 3 and posted 191 and 0 TDs. After another solid game in week 4 he came back in week 5 (against Tampa) and posted 171 and 1 TD. Then he went nuts. He'll come around.

I have to choose between Brees and Roethlisberger. Not sure what to do. Leaning towards Brees with the hopes that he dumps off to Bush and they go nuts in prime time.

Face it, Brees wasn't THAT bad last week. Did you see the Random Shots? Looks like Brees came mighty close to a couple more TD's (passing and rushing).

I am in the same boat, with Brees and Schaub as my QB's. Also in the same boat with not wanting to start Schaub over Brees with Johnson out with a knee injury. With Brees playing at home in the dome and Schaub playing against the Colts without his favorite receiver, I fully expect Brees to have a better game. If Schaub still outperforms Brees this week, then Vick's former backup will be starting indefinintelyNi

i hope that E. stands for Erasmus

What I'm wondering aloud as a McNabb owner is whether Brees is worth targeting as a trade opportunity.

Start 2 QB league, if Brees struggles again I bench him in week 4 and run with Eli and McCown.

I give Brees the start again after his bye in week 5 (mostly because I have no other option that week) and reevaluate.

i really think about buying low on brees now, the owner in my league has AJ as his only valuable receiver, so i really might have a chance since i'm very weak on my QB spot - but i'm very deep on the WRs (at least in a 16 team league).. but i wonder what would make a deal done, either evans, santana moss or edwards + losman - or would this be to much at the moment?

:hifive: Both are under-performing, but who is better between the two? The only difference I have seen to date is that McNabb hasn't had near as many turnovers as Brees has over the first two games. If healthy, McNabb should perform well. But he sure hasn't looked healthy lately. I am in no sense of the word panicing about the season as it's only the 3rd week, but I have had the same thought cross my mind about trading for Brees and ridding myself of McNabb.

TN will probably sack him 3-4 times and they'll control the clock with the running game...not expecting big numbers from Brees again this week

i see the saints offense able to score earlier than the Titans. The Saints will play ahead. This will serve Brees better than being a one-dimensional passer like he's been the past 2 weeks.

And let's also give Brees a chance to see what he can do against something other than a Tampa-2 defense, which he didn't seem to enjoy to much over the past two weeks.

I dont own him so I am not being biased. There is now way he can be this bad. I really think the whole problem is they are forcing the ball to Bush.

Big Ben and Matt Leinart are breathing down Drew's neck.If Brees "craps the sheets" (LOL) again, his three week 2007 starting run is ovah!  :wall:
"Roethlisberger! You ready? Brees & Leinart are going to be busy doing a lot of laundry. I've had enough of this crap! Get in there and get it done or you'll have the embarrassment of being replaced by Kyle-freaking-Boller!"

i am benching Brees for anderson. looking to make a trade for a QB. I think NO is in for a long year.

Well I guess that question has been answered.

Brees is pitful, Ryan Leaf still around?
Peyton Manning would be getting eaten alive behind the Saints' O-line right now. If any changes are made to the Saints' starting O-line ... have another look Brees' way. There's no guarantee guys like Zacj Strief and Andy Alleman are better than the starters ... but at least they're not banged up.

Week 1: It the first game of the year, and he is going up against the world champions. Bad game? Its ok, he’ll bounce back.

Week 2: Wow, I guess the Tampa 2 really has his number. But he did alright, not as good as my QB on the bench (again), but he got a TD to Colston. Maybe the team just needs to have a home game and get fired up

Week 3:

Rest of the season: Not only will Brees have to have an absolutely amazing game after the bye, he will need to prove that it is not a fluke (over and over and over…). :bye:
