Brees (1 Viewer)

it's the first game of the year.
Exactly. He obviously didn't play well, but was facing a pumped up defense on national TV to open the season.Brees owners shouldn't be hasty and bench him next week - you may miss out on a bounce back game.

You mean Tony Dungy studied their offense for a couple months and the Aints ran out on the field and didn't do much?

Color me shocked. :wall:

I agree. I don't have him on my fantasy team, but if I did, I wouldn't hesitate to play him vs tampa bay next week.

I like this thread. I now have that twangy Match Game music stuck in my head.

Brees is playing like _____________________

Those saying Rex Grossman got the wrong bear. Grossman would have thrown about 3 more interceptions, but at least thrown it downfield a few times.

With the way he was throwing everything underneath, the correct answer is Kyle Orton. Apparently it's a boilermaker thing.
:) :lmao:

Good observation, but remember that Orton also tended to overthrow a lot as well as underthrow, so either answer is acceptable for week one. If Brees had another quarter to work with, he would've had a few more turnovers.

Let's revisit again for week two.

Signed,

Disenchanted Brees Owner :bag:

Brees had a rough start and then Payton gave up on the run game. I'm not so sure Brees had much of a chance to recover after that.

If I can get a Holt+Rivers or any top 10 WR + top 15 QB I think I'm going to pull the trigger and offload him after he gets hot again. Right now I don't think anybody would give me squat for him. I'm already hurting at WR and I assumed my STUD QB didn't have any issues and would be solid all season long, but at this point I'd rather do a QBBC and solidify my WR's than take more chances on Brees.

The trash talking at work today is intense (everybody in my league works with me). The owner I'm playing this week beat me both times in the regular season and beat me in the first round of the playoffs. We got put in the same division again this year and things are not looking good for me to pull out a win this week. The irony is he had LT last season and I got him this season, but I don't think even LT is going to bail me out this week. I really wanted to give him a taste of what he gave me last season (LT killed me last season)! I guess that's FF for you...

I looked at his 2006 stats and he's quite inconsistent. I just fell for the hype and got sucked into last seasons overall stats. He was #2 in our league last year behind Manning.

I know I'm being hasty, but I'm still not convinced the Colts D is legit and he was horrible last night. I just don't see it getting any better. I know the right thing to do is not to panic, don't be hasty, and chalk this up to Week 1 jitters, etc. Maybe after Tampa I'll be singing a different song, but he wasn't that great vs Tampa last year either.

Brees is a good QB, but he's always been dependent on having help around him -- in particular, because he's short, he needs good protection from the OL so that he can find passing lanes. (Look at the huge difference between his 2003 and 2004 performances. The OL was the major change.)

Whether he can bounce back and have a good season this year is going to depend quite a bit on his teammates. Right now, the whole team looks bad.

Brees is playing like.....he's my starting QB.

Luckily he's not, but the way my team is going might as well be.

PS he'll be fine. Just a rough start to the year.

   :bag:

NO F'N WAY! 5 Turnovers, lost me my game for this week, had a 5 point lead with him and Roydell Williams going tonight...

:bag: :bag: :bag: :bag:

A trade went down a couple weeks ago that I thought was horrible - Hasselbeck/M. Barber for Brees/LJ. Looking pretty fair right now.

I dont get why Grossman gets grilled and no one says anything about Brees in the media he has been garbage
Has Grossman had a year like Brees did last year or the two previous years in SD? Past performance earns you some slack--although at this point, I think the hammer is going to fall.Personally, I think the blame has to be borne equally by coaching staff. I wonder if the Saints didn't catch the league by surprise last year with their offense, but this year coaching staffs around the league have figured the Saints out and the Saint's coaches haven't adjusted yet?

With Deuce going out, the Saints are going to have to pass a TON this year. Brees should end every game with 225+ yards and at least 1-2 TD...let's just ignore those pesky INTs

Grossman isn't a good comparison, but imagine McNabb started out like Brees has. Brees has done much less in his career but people would be calling for McNabb to be benched for a rookie.
