Brett Favre Press Conference 08Dec2010 (1 Viewer)

Anybody know anything about a Favre press conference today? It's a sticky on ESPN in the upper left corner, but nothing else has been mentioned....

I'm not usually around Wed mornings, so thanks for the info. Their banner takes up almost 10% of the screen. Odd for something that really isn't news at all....

I love me some Favre haters.

Never seen a future first round HOF get so much venom spewed his way. So he's an attention deprived QB and a drama queen. This is news or different from a ton of other NFL players? I don't think Brett has a dozen FBG screen names and he's slipping in to start posts about himself in the Shark Pool. It's his fault there are a lot of posts and threads about him?

If you're tired of his song and dance, why not read of the three dozen NE rb threads.

IMHO it's good for a laugh, no need for the hate. As Mr. Rourke would say "Smiles. Smiles everyone. This is Fantasy (football) Island."

Farve deserves the backlash. He has made a spectacle of himself the last few years by retiring, unretiring and switching teams. Farve was a very, very good NFL QB. He deserves to be in the HOF. I am not a GB or Minny fan but I loved watching Farve play. He was one of the few QBs that was great for many years. Too bad he had to taint his outstanding career with his goofy decisions in the last few years.

He'll probably announce that he is good to go this weekend.

Farve will do and say anything to get to 300 consecutive starts even if it harms the team as a whole.

The legacy tarnishing project continues.

In what way is Favre's career tainted? Because people like yourself say it is? Do you think he cares that people like you assert that his career has been tainted because of decisions he has made? Say it enough times and it is true?Favre did what he wanted to do. Good for him.Try as you may, but nothing can take away from Brett Favre has accomplished in the NFL. It is only in the world inside your head (and others, admittedly) that Favre's career has been tainted. But who cares! Don't confuse your skewed viewpoint with reality."goofy decisions in the last few years" - Yeah, what a goofy decision to go to the Vikings last year, have one of the best seasons of his career and nearly lead the Vikings to the Superbowl. How this can be interpreted as "tainting" his legacy is completely beyond comprehension.Favre didn't even want to play this year, he was essentially pressured into it by other players who flew down to his house to beg him to come back. He was man enough to try and do for them what they were asking of him, even though he knew and had doubts in his heart that he could do it. He gave it his all and that cannot be denied.I wonder how you would be judged by a bunch of deluded individuals who think they're opinion is valid because of what thy were told and shown on their television if you lived under the microscope of the media.

Relax Francis.I think the word "taint" is fair not applied to his career numbers, but in his actions off the field impacting how he will be remembered. Clinton did an outstanding job as President for 8 years leaving the country in much better shape than he found it, but he is widely remembered not for his policies and the good will he created with countries around the world, but for having an affair with an intern and disputing the definition of sex. It doesn't mean he was a bad president, but it does taint his legacy. The definition of taint is to sully or tarnish (as in one's reputation). Favre's reputation is tainted whether you want to accept it or not. It isn't tarnished because I say it or because a thousand reporters write about it. It is tainted because the perception is that he had to be wooed to return to play and that he took inappropriate license with an employee for the Jets. Since reputation (defined as "notoriety or fame, esp for some specified characteristic") is a product of perception then if that perception is that his negative then it is negative. You can hate the haters, but stating your position a thousand times doesn't make it so. Your condemnation of people writing or talking about it seems odd as well. As with every discussion about the microscope that high profile individuals live under, it is the price of fame. If you want to make $16 mil a year and be on TV 16 Sundays a year, plus when you're hawking Wranglers you have to figure people are going to watch what you do. Those same writers have penned hundreds of thousands of articles praising his TDs, yards and accomplishments, but if something negative comes to light they are supposed to just forget it? If you think that is how news works and that those guys are trying as hard as they can to get people to read their stuff you aren't in reality. Whatever draws eyes is what they're going to write about, but they didn't tell him to send pictures of his junk if he did that. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. George W. said that history will judge his presidency and he is right. We can argue today, but only time will tell what this last season will mean to Favre's legacy.

You're more than welcome to your opinion, that's what's so great about this country. I am one of those who has soured on Favre. There is not one QB in history who has gone back and forth as many times as he has, and his personal decisions off the field seem to paint him as not the greatest guy at the very least. I think he's a 1st ballott Hall of Famer but I'm tired of him and now look forward to when he's gone from the league. So in essence I do agree that he's one of the all time great QBs, but his memory has been tarnished in the last few years for me at least.

All you arm chair quarterbacks can sit back and judge Favre's actions all you want. I doubt he cares what any of you think. The post I was responding to didn't say that his reputation was tainted, it said that his career is tainted. These are two very different things. How one can argue that his career is tainted because of his off the field actions is beyond me. Barry Bonds, along with many other baseball and football players, have tainted careers. Their on the field accomplishments have been tainted because they cheated. Explain to me how Favre's past on the field accomplishments are tainted because of anything he did off the field. Enlighten me.It is ironic that you tell me to relax, when really it is everyone who is so quick to judge people they actually know very little about who need to relax. The fact that people would throw Favre into some bin that they label as "tainted career" or even "tainted reputation" based on information that has gone through many filters and, as you pointed out, those filters have an agenda of getting people's attention, is patently silly. You are right in observing that the media and those who work in it are the ones seeking attention. But you don't see the bigger picture: due to that fact, it is faulty to build such strong opinions based solely from those sources of information. What does appearing in wrangler ads have anything to do with whether Favre should be subject to these kind of erroneous judgments? He was offered money to be in an advertisement. Therefore, he has opened himself to ignorant and misinformed judgments of the masses? He chose to play football and was very good at it, and made a heck of a career out of it and made a ton of money doing it. Therefore, he has opened himself to these same judgments? Somehow he deserves to be judged by others because of these things? Look the judgments are unavoidable, my entire points is that they are based on filtered information, to put it kindly. Regardless of how well known a person is, or how much attention whatever they end up doing in life brings them, that doesn't justify blanket misinformed judgment by the masses. He doesn't deserve to have some dude who has never met him saying his reputation is tainted anymore than anyone else does, anyone less well known. I'm sure we all have have plenty of things in our lives that could be put out for all to see, and then filtered to make it even more attention grabbing and sensational, that would make us look bad. Whether we are famous or not has no bearing on whether making such judgments is legitimate, or whether those judgments are deserved or accurate.

I'm sorry that you suffer so badly at the hands of Favre and the media that puts him in front of you. Your pain will soon be over. This will be Favre's last season. I for one have enjoyed his career. However people feel about Favre, whatever they may think, it cannot be denied that he played with a ton of heart and put it all out there week in and week out. He also had one of the all time greatest fastballs you will ever see.For the record, I am a Wisconsinite. I had no bitterness toward Favre when he left or when he went to the Vikings. He's going to do what he is going to do. It is useless to let anothers actions in something that is ultimately very trivial, sports, cause palpable annoyance in my life. Sounds like a lot of unneccessary burden to carry around to me.

I believe Favre will announce his retirement today... and then when his back/shoulder/chin/ankle feels better, he'll un-retire and start per usual to KEEP THE STREAK ALIVE.Like it or not people, Brett Favre still gives the Vikings their best chance to get mentioned on ESPN on Sunday's. Without Favre, they're just another stinky team.

20 million reasons to play. He's obviously had a down year. HOF shoe in. But the one thing I'll remember the most was his infectious enthusiasm for the game(not so much this year).

Pertaining to tainted

How many people in your work place are taking up space and being HIGHLY innefective. Did they have the career that Favre did or where they always just bums?

Relax, Francis.Look I judge Brett Favre on his actions. He has gone back and forth about retiring so much that it is hard to take anything he says seriously. He sent a picture of his private parts to someone other than his wife. Knowing this, he choose to remain in the public eye by continuing to play football. He continues to play hurt, but based on everything else he does which screams "look at me" one wonders whether he does that to help the team or to continue his games started streak.Brett, by his actions, is a very selfish person. That is how he (not the media) has tarnished his reputation.

So......anybody hear the presser or know what it entailed. What did Favre have to say?
Favre Presser 12/08/10
Didn't really care, just lightheartedly trying to get the thread back on track........anything of note in that presser we need to be aware of?????? I am not listening to it.
He talked mainly how he was sore, how putting on shirts and socks is a little hard right now. Will practice tomorrow. He also talked about how lazy Ruffrodys05 really is.

Cool story. Thanks for sharing with us that in the world of dhockster, Favre has been convicted of being selfish.

I just hope Brett doesn't find out. It might crush him.
