brett favre returns to the vikings (1 Viewer)

Brett Favre may already have already had surgery on his ankle

VU is tracking a different angle to this story. A fellow professional athlete, whose family requested that he remain anonymous, is a patient of Dr. Andrews and has had surgery performed by the famous surgeon, who has been the go-to doctor for athletes in all major professional sports. The player, who has had a prolonged relationship with Dr. Andrews and his staff, called his Alabama clinic Thursday morning to set up an appointment.

He was informed that Dr. Andrews was out of town this week and, as part of that conversation, was told that Dr. Andrews was “in Mississippi working with an old quarterback” this week to perform a procedure on a client.

Favre'sd return was never in doubt, the guy can't stay away from football.I suspect he'll play well in to his 40's..might retire as the oldest starting QB in NFL history.I'd say he has at least 4-5 years left..

I just don't ever see this guy retiring 'for real', I think he's going to play as long as he doesn't have a career-ending injury.

I think his return this year makes sense. They got that close last year...possible lockout next year gives him the reason to walk away.

Not sure about 4-5 years left...not if teams hit him like NO did in the title game.

If there is a lockout I can certainly see Favre taking that as his exit. If the Vikings win the Super Bowl it's more likely IMO. Otherwise I think he'll play until no team is willing to start him. Could be awhile or an injury.

You obviously have not turned 40 yet!

As a Viking fan, I love what Favre did for us last year. As a 45 year old man, I love that he is still out there playing very well and it definitely inspires me.

I AM worried about that ankle injury. That was a wicked hit he took and I noticed his wife looking very concerned. That being said, I think this whole thing is just an excuse so he can sit out most of training camp. And again, I think when you are 40 plus you have earned some special consideration so I have no problem with it.

Probably the most logical thing I've seen stated on the many Favre boards. Agree.

hes coming back.

if he wasnt, I'm sure they would have outbid Washington for the rights to McNabb? or drafted one of the many QB's with starting potential in this years draft?

I assume you mean Clausen and McCoy. I think Chilly values arm strength higher than most coaches. It wouldn't surprise me if he passed on them not knowing if Favre was going to come back.

Edit to add this little tidbit:

The Vikes have decided to move sixth round pick Joe Webb back to quarterback after he impressed the coaching staff during the rookie camp. Webb can throw the ball 70 yards and is known as an elite athlete. It will be interesting to see if the coaching staff is taken enough with him that he actually challenges Tarvaris Jackson or Sage Rosenfels for a spot on the QB depth chart.

Last year he supposedly came back because his daughter cried and said she wanted him to play. This year he's supposedly basing it on the results of a college baseball team. Why the need for all the :goodposting: ? ;) Or is he really that incapable of making his OWN decisions? :goodposting:

as reported in the other thread...........adam schefter just tweeted from mortensen...... favre had ankle surgery in gulf breeze ( pensacola, fl ) this morning performed by dr. andrews!!

HE'S BACK BABY!!

As everyone else said, with the surgery today, it looks like he's coming back. But you never know with #4...maybe the ankle was preventing him from playing football with the boys in those Levi commercials.
