THE NEWSLions fullback Shawn Bryson's injured knee will require surgery, the Detroit Free Press reported on Tuesday. He suffered the injury while playing special teams during Sunday's win over the Bills. Bryson was carted off the field and did not return. Our ViewBryson will most likely miss the remainder of the season. The timing couldn't be worse for the Lions, as Kevin Jones and Cory Schlesinger are also nursing injuries. There's a good chance the Lions will re-sign Arlen Harris, who was among the final cuts this summer.
I'm sure KJ will start against the Jets but hip pointers can be very tender. He could be limited, day to day today. Harris coming back is just insurance. Brian Calhoun might be very close to his big opportunity. With Norwood, Jones-Drew and Washington all having their moments, I think Calhoun will be fine. All these backs look pretty much the same in the NFL as they did in college. :blackdot:

He got the hip pointer in the 2nd quarter, and then came back, played the rest of game, and looked really good doing it! Calhoun may get a few carries, but nothing significant!

I think his point is that these types of injuries (hip pointers) are prone to come up again at some point in the season.

I'm dropping Dayne for Calhoun. Can't be too safe.

(pardon the puns)

Hip pointers generally worsen overnight. It's a deep bruise that often swells for the first 48 hours. You can usually continue with it after it happens easier than you can play on it the next day. My point is they are very tender, once the bruise is established another shot to the "hip" can be extremely painful and limiting. This isn't serious, but I think Jones might "take it easy" a little this week.

Cappy, Harrison wasn't mentioned.

I read somewhere that KJ went to the locker room for a pain killer and than came back for the rest of the game. In an interview after the game he commented to a reporter how the painkiller was "starting to wear off and it wasn't feeling too good"Take that for whatever it's worth, but it sounds like he was playing the rest of the game after the injury in a numb sort of state with the painkiller.
