Brian Cushing (1 Viewer)

These roid users are all a bunch of liars.

Bonds - user - liar

Clemons - user - liar

ARod - user - liar

Palmero - user - liar

McGuire - user - liar

Merriman - user - liar

Cushing - user - liar

All a bunch of lying pigs. Doping is bad, Lying about it after getting popped is even worse. Has anyone but Jose Canseco admitted using roids? Andy Petite, didn't he admit he was a doping turd?

Didn't A-Rod admit to using? I know Ben Johnson did. Rodney Harrison did as well. Of course they all had rationalizations.

the funny thing to me is that people make such a big deal about what these guys say or don't say, like a guy in this position is some kind of reliable source.

if he's already sneaking around, cheating, doing something illegal, etc, I'm not really sure why anybody expects sudden honesty out of the guy.

now, I'm not saying this is the case with cushing, but there's only 2 possibilities --- he's willfully cheating, in which case I really don't expect him to be honest about it, or he's completely innocent, in which case he probably IS being honest.

you first need to find out whether he's using to determine honesty -- not the other way around.

if the guy's using I'm already working under the assumption that he's dishonest.

I get a chuckle out of people who actually buy the BS that Cushing is selling. All these roid users always lie about using it and then eventually admit it when they can't lie anymore, fool me once and shame on you, fool me 100 times then shame on me. Same old story folks, the dude is a lying turd. Sadly lots of guys are probably on HGH and other drugs, Cushing got caught, he should man up and own it.

Who's buying it??And why should Cush man up? No one else does.

Read the whole thread, there are people buying it here. Mark Schlereth(sp) bought it today on NFL Live.

Andy Petite, didn't he admit he was a doping turd?
"Using it to recover from an injury"
He gets some respect for admitting it. Cushing should do the same, his play is going to go downhill in a big way or he'll dope again and get caught again. Chance that Cushing was telling the truth is approximately 0.00%.
Yeah, I give respect for admitting it before you get caught. Petite was smart, he made a nice PR move, and realized that the quickest way to deal with it was to get out in front of it, admit using, give yourself just enough of a window for your fans to excuse it (injuries!). Just because Petite has a better publicist, doesn't make his transgression any less. And I have read the thread. I'm not seeing a big movement believing Cush. I have seen clarification on what it is he was taking, but not seen anyone say that they believe he is innocent. And if he's a cheater, why do I care if he is also a liar? And neither did Schlereth. He was talking about disagreeing with taking away the trophy. He made a good point, that people kept calling the drug steroids, and it wasn't. His was a technical argument, he wasn't saying he believed Cushing. All of us KNOWING Cush used steroids shouldn't affect that stupid little award.

it's an opinion poll, not a court of law --- is there some reason people should need proof?
No, I don't think so. If some guy wants to not vote for a guy because he suspects he is cheating, I am fine with that. But if they are going to go to the point of re-doing a vote? Yeah, I'd want crazy extenuating circumstances, real proof.Because then where does it end? Do they go back more than one year? Are Pro Bowl votes re-done? If a team paid out a bonus on the award, do they sue the guy to get it back? I just think the whole re-voting thing was stupid. Does the AP really think their little award is that important? "Ah, geez, we can't have this award tarnished, better re-do it...." They aren't vetting Supreme Court candidates here, lighten the hell up.

Steelers | James Harrison added to All-Pro team

Thu, 13 May 2010 13:33:14 -0400

Pittsburg Steelers LB James Harrison has been added to the All-Pro second team after a revote was conducted because former All-Pro Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing tested positive for a banned substance, reports Ed Bouchette, of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette.

this is odd...

Cushing was suspended for four games without pay last week for violating the NFL’s drug policy. His appeal was denied.

Cushing confirmed he tested positive for HCG, a fertility drug that is on the league’s banned substance list.

“The question of how it got into my body is still unclear,” he said. “It’s something that I’m very personally concerned about, just the fact that how it’s there and what’s going to determine it from happening again, and that’s something we’re going to have to medically investigate.”

He said that after failing the test, he was told HCG can get in your body from injecting it or because of tumors. He said this information led him to believe he had tumors. He did not say what kind of tumors.

“I personally know I’m not injecting myself with anything,” he said. “I played the whole season thinking this could not only be my last season, but my last year.”

Cushing added he is concerned about his health and plans to undergo tests to see “how this got into my body” and to try to make sure it doesn’t happen again.

In a statement Saturday, Cushing said the test indicated “the presence of a non-steroidal banned substance.” He said he took the test in September and was notified of the results in October.

Dr. Gary Wadler, who leads the committee that determines the World Anti-Doping Agency’s banned-substances list, said there have been cases of malignant testicular tumors producing HCG. Still, those cases are “extremely rare.”

“If he had a tumor that produced HCG, he wouldn’t be playing football,” Wadler said of Cushing. “He would be under treatment for a malignant tumor.”

Wadler also noted if Cushing tested positive once because of such a tumor, HCG levels would be consistently elevated and he would continue to have positive tests.

“Malignant testicular tumors producing HCG are rather lethal,” Wadler said. “It is a fairly aggressive tumor and you’re not playing in the NFL with one.”

SO

we are to believe that he is very concerned about how this got into his body, and that he is going to be tested because he fears it is a health issue. But...he found out about this in October. He is SO worried about his health that he waits 7 months and still is only PLANNING on getting some tests done to see why this happened.

strange days indeed

The tests for the tumors were mandated by the NFL drug policy, which requires anyone who tests positive for high levels of hCG be screened for cancer.

Let's not jump to conclusions, I mean there's still the possibility that he just happened to grow a placenta in the offseason.

I'd respect that as well, but it ain't going to happen. If someone is doping, even if they feel guilty about it and stop, they still aren't going to confess it without someone putting them under the spotlight. The number of true confessions that occur before a person ever becomes fearful of exposure is miniscule. What I am always amused/perturbed by is when these guys lie about it after they've been caught.

How many reporters are in your press conference? And you think none of them are going to test your alibi when you proclaim your innocence?

You can never underestimate how far someone will go, how low they will stoop and how irrational they may become in an effort to avoid suffering the negative consequences of their actions.

If Cushing didn't seek targeted medical help after finding out he tested positive and wondering if he might die, I see that as case closed.

All of his references to testing are in the future tense.I guess he's been too busy living his life bucket-list style to be bothered with finding out if he actually has a life-threatening tumor.

Good thing that the suspension came along to remind him to schedule those tests.

Here's why this type of dishonesty makes people mad. It's insulting.

Texans | Attorney says Brian Cushing had pituitary gland issue

Sat, 15 May 2010 08:29:47 -0400

The attorney for Houston Texans LB Brian Cushing, Harvey Steinberg, based a big part of his appeal on Cushing's positive test for hCG on the fact that Cushing had an enlarged pituitary gland that required a surgical procedure while at Southern California, reports John McClain, of the Houston Chronicle . "He had a pre-existing medical condition (involving an enlarged pituitary gland) that was consistent with the natural production of hCG in males," Steinberg said. "They came out in the hearing, and they were documented. We learned that he had a particular medical condition that was consistent with natural production in the body of this banned substance. We felt with the low levels at which it tested was also consistent with natural production. We did research and found out that his was a plausible explanation. We consulted an expert who suggested further testing. We became convinced that this was a situation that was naturally produced."

They just continue to look more and more stupid. So which is it? Did he think he had a tumor, or is it because he had an enlarged pituitary gland back in college? And how does that explain him only testing positive once? What a joke. The guy looks worse and worse every time anyone his camp opens their mouth. At this point I hope his career takes a dive just like Merriman's after he got busted.

Merriman had 12.5 sacks the year after he got busted?Of course...the next year he blew out his knee and struggled last year his first year back after the knee injury...but his first year after being busted, he was fine.

From a Houston Chronicle article at http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports...nt/7006235.html.

Apparently there were HCG results in 2 different tests for Cushing, in May and September. The tests split the sample in half and test them independently. In the May test, the 'A' sample showed HCG just over the NFL's limit, the 'B' sample showed HCG but below the limit so it was considered a negative test.

Then the September test where the 'A' sample showed the same level as the May test, and this time the 'B' sample showed the same amount which counted as a positive test and the suspension was given.

Also, clarification on why Cushing was 'stunned' that he lost his appeal. Two medical experts were provided by the NFL to argue their side in the appeal. One of the NFL's own experts sided with Cushing's camp that there was scientific confirmation the male body can naturally produce HCG.

Doesn't explain why he'd make the tumor comment though unless he was angling for sympathy in the press conference. I still think he probably took something, but if what's in the article is an honest representation of the testimony, I'd question why he didn't win the appeal. It sounds like the NFL failed to make their case.

I'd like to know what his HCG level was in any tests after September. Was it zero? If so that would make the naturally occurring thing extremely unlikely. Or has he continued to show HCG, but like the May test it was just below the level that would be a violation, which would lend support to his explanation.

His test level was said to be 8 IU/L. The baseline for males is 3 IU/L. For PCT, it is consumed in the 1,000s IU/L several times. If he was Post-Cycling, it more than likely would have been in the 1000s, like Manny's was.

I am not really up on my steriod medical lingo. PCT? Are you saying that he could have produced those levels naturally? or are you saying those levels could only be produced by juicing?

Would someone who had taken 1,000 IU/L doses give a test like 8 IU/L some time after they stopped taking the 1,000 IU/L doses? He might have been post-post-cycling but his levels hadn't yet returned to "normal"?Is it like BAC where concentration diminishes over time? Just because you blow a .05 at 5AM doesn't mean you've been at a constant level .05 the whole night.Geez, Cushing. Pick a story. If the pituitary gland story may be plausible, how does Cushing not lead with that theory every time he opens his mouth instead of this stupid mysterious, life-threatening yet undiagnosed and un-investigated tumor?
