New Jersey police captain Edgar Martinez says Kenny Britt is "still not cooperating with police" in regards to a weekend shooting and stabbing, and they are still trying to locate the receiver."At this point he is still not cooperating with police. So whatever statement he puts out is false. We are asking anyone who has info of his whereabouts to contact us, and that includes the owner of the Titans. Anybody who has information on where Kenny Britt can be located, please contact police at 201-547-5460," read a statement released by Martinez. Britt is not considered a suspect at this point, but other than that, there still isn't a lot of information available.

Never, ever, under any circumstances talk to the police without an attorney. Britt's a scumbag, no doubt, but all he did was take a seriously injured man to the hospital. Even if he had absolutely nothing to do with it and knows nothing about what happened (both possible), he's had enough run ins to know he's got to have representation when talking to the authorities. Simply a smart move on his part. Heck, he might of called his attorney and is currently following their advise. I'll wait to vilify him until there's some actual information to lead me to believe he did wrong.

Anyone remember that extremely talented Titans receiver who wasted his career by constantly getting arrested and failing to properly rehab his knee after an ACL?

This advice generally is sound if you're a suspect in an investigation - if you are asked to be questioned as a witness (and you've done no wrong), your statement is hyperbole, and way overblown.

What I truly can not believe is how in the @@@@ they haven't booted this piece of garbage off their team. I don't know his contract specifics but damn, give me a break. He has no business being in the league period!!!!

You must be new to professional sports in the US. Welcome. If you've got talent, and can play, you've got a job. At least in football you can't go into the stands and punch the fans....at least I don't think you can..

It's good advice period. Nothing stopping the police from moving from witness to suspect treatment.

So if you saw your buddy get hit by a car (or even stabbed like here), and took him to the hospital and the cops wanted to speak with you about what happened, you'd wait until you lawyered up?

If I could somehow be liable for what happened and my career was on the line, yes.

Like I said, if you've done no wrong, the statement is overblown. Obviously if you think that you could somehow be liable, then of course you should.

What if you knew that telling the truth to the police would not only clear you of any liability but would also help the police apprehend the attacker?

Especially then.

Witnesses often turn into suspects based on what they tell the police, even if they did no wrong, especially with a record like Britt's. It is almost always in your best interest to never talk to the police without an attorney.

The inverse is also true. If police try to question you about an event and you refuse to cooperate that generally raises flags with the police. They will then often investigate you even closer as being a possible suspect. Especially, if you have a record like Britt's and the police think may be attempting to cover your shenanigans.

And just 8 months ago this guy was voted dynasty WR #11 here...
Fast forward to today and I still rank him there. This is a non issue he's done nothing wrong and is typical over reaction. Maybe hes an idiot but nothing will come of this froma league standpoint.
:goodposting:If a guy can play, he'll have a team and be on the field even post felony conviction(s).As a multi-league owner, the fact that he didn't look like the same guy on the field this year post-injury is far more concerning than any off field antics.

In the words of Jimmy Johnson, "I'd recruit Charlie Manson if he could run a 4.4 40 ."

That's one of my main concerns too, and I believe it goes along with some of the off-season issues. Lack of desire and work ethic. Guy has shown some tremendous physical abilities, but his game needs maturing too before he'll be an all-around go-to WR stud, IMO.

And all they'll have is suspicion as opposed to the guy who talks to the police and gets a fact or two mixed up in the retelling. Then they have a guy who was at the scene who "gave misleading statements to police".
