Denver coach Mike Shanahan said Friday, in his final media gathering of the week, that he expects receiver Rod Smith to be ready to play Sunday night at New England.

Smith has practiced all week after suffering a concussion Sunday against Kansas City. Smith left the field for a second time in the fourth quarter and did not return.

Smith has practiced all week and is listed as probable on the injury report.

Smith, 36, has twice been examined by physicians this week, and Shanahan said he had one final checkup scheduled for Friday. But Shanahan said he didn't expect any setbacks.

Defensive end Courtney Brown practiced this week, but Shanahan has said he doesn't expect Brown to play until Oct. 9 against Baltimore at the earliest.

It's SNOWING already in Denver??!?!?!?Good ta hear Smith's bell isn't as rung as it looked -- but how much do we think he'll be worth this weekend. he's killed me the last two - and that's unusual for him.
