An 18-year-old University of Georgia freshman is accusing Knowshon Moreno of punching him during a bar fight last weekend.

Stephen Anderson, 18, admits he was drunk at the time of the brawl and couldn't identify the three men he was "jumped" by at Bourbon Street Bar on Saturday night. His friends identified the man who hit him as Moreno, a UGA alum. Moreno says he was punched first. No charges have been filed, and Anderson's case is shaky considering his state during the incident. Well that was quick....Knowshon Moreno will not be charged with assault after the Athens-Clarke County Police Department closed its investigation into last week's bar-fight incident.

The police determined there was no probable cause to continue the investigation, and the victim has decided not to press charges. The NFL will likely look into the incident, but Moreno won't face a suspension now that his name has been cleared.

I suspect the bar might get in trouble though.

HE HIT ME! HE ####### HIT ME!

Crowd: Oh god...

HE ####### HIT ME FIRST! HE HIT ME IN THE FACE! THAT’S SELF DEFENSE! DONT #### WITH ME BOY. DON'T #### WITH ME.

Must have studied under Epic Beard Man. Good job.

can 18 y/o's drink in bars in GA?
No, but they can get sloshed in their dorm room after over paying someone with a fake ID for cheap vodka and then go to a bar.
guess each state has different laws for this. back in my bar days i'd see people get kicked out all the time for being under 21 without a parent or guardian even if they weren't drinking.
Many college bars allow 18 year olds, but they don't get a bracelet or mark on the hand to show they are 21.

I live in town, and the bar will likely get fined. Getting into a bar catering college students isn't that tough if you're between 18-21. Fake IDs, lax security, you name it.

Oh I know, I am 23 now but when I was 19 my best friend turned 21. We went to a bar to celebrate his 21st, I get them my real ID and still got in. BTW, Arizona has different IDs for under/over 21. Under it is vertical, Over it is sideways. So it wasn't hard to miss.

If I was 18 and drunk and could get cited by raising a red flag on someone else, I would have kept my mouth shut...kind of like the price of doing business.

Police clear Moreno of wrongdoing in fight

By Joe Johnson - Athens Banner-Herald

Published Thursday, February 25, 2010

Buzz up!

Athens-Clarke police have cleared NFL running back Knowshon Moreno of any wrongdoing in a fight last weekend at a bar in downtown Athens.

A University of Georgia student decided not to pursue charges against the former Bulldog standout, after claiming earlier this week Moreno punched and knocked him out Saturday night at the Bourbon Street bar on East Clayton Street, police said.

“He called yesterday and said he didn’t want to pursue it and didn’t want to waste our time,” Athens-Clarke police Capt. Clarence Holeman said this morning.

Moreno spoke voluntarily with investigators Tuesday afternoon at the Lexington Road police headquarters, admitting that he struck the student, but only in self defense, Holeman said.

“Knowshon said (the student) already was into it with two other people, and he was trying to get him to calm down when the student punched him,” Holeman said.

The 18-year-old student admitted he was drunk at the bar and only reported that Moreno attacked him without provocation because that’s what his friends told him, according to police.

Workers at the UGA health clinic told the student Monday that he had a concussion, and he filed a police report the same afternoon — two days after the bar fight, police said.

Moreno was a star player for the Bulldogs in the 2007 and 2008 seasons, and last year rushed for nearly 1,000 yards as a rookie with the Denver Broncos.
