I believe it will be TEBC until Scheffler shows he can play. This is a good question, and a situation that bears watching, given Denvers history w/ the TE.Stephen Alexander is the starter it appears. Given his unimpressive play and injury history, that's about as insecure of a starting position as you'll find.
Is this going to be a TEBC? If not, who's the guy to have?

He's not listed on their NFL.com depth chart. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? Is he done or something?
He's playing for the Texans. What happened to Jeb Putzier? Last year, the Broncos matched an offer to him by NYJ just to keep him on board, and then this year they let him go, despite his having a respectable, if not remarkable season. What am I missing?
Duke got released after he snapped another ACL in Mini's.J-Put is on the Texans. He's not listed on their NFL.com depth chart. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? Is he done or something?
So would it be safe for me to drop him in my Dynasty league? He's not listed on their NFL.com depth chart. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? Is he done or something?
depends how deep your rosters go. it wouldn't suprise me at all if he re-signs.So would it be safe for me to drop him in my Dynasty league? He's not listed on their NFL.com depth chart. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? Is he done or something?
If memory serves correct, Putz somehow ended up in Shanny's doghouse towards the end of the season, and was inactive for the playoffs. I have no idea why. He was released, and has since signed w/ the Texans. his feud w/ Shanny must not have been with Kubiak, which I find odd. What happened to Jeb Putzier? Alexander CAN catch just fine. Believe it or not he had a highlight reel catch last year that seems to popup on boards every now and again. He's easily the best blocking TE the Broncos have. Scheffler can catch and move well but(like any rook TE) will be overwhelmed trying to block NFL defenders. I expect(and IIRC Shanny said something similar) Scheffler to be more involved as the season wears on. He's not gonna put Scheffler in if it means Plummer gets killed. He's not gonna put him in if it means the D knows it's going to him. Just wait a little bit, he'll get the hang of things. He might even be OK by the end of TC and is a quick learner...who knows?Stephen Alexander is the starter it appears. He wasn't developing as a blocker like they expected him to, so they cut him to save against the cap. What happened to Jeb Putzier? He got cut because he injured his left knee. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? Is he done or something?
It would *SHOCK* me if he resigned. If it really was an ACL injury, like we're speculating, that would make it the *FOURTH TIME* that Duke has torn his left ACL. He already held the record for ACL repairs in a single knee at 3, and now he's just "improving" upon his record. That's beyond bad luck and clear proof that he has a propensity for ACL tears in the left knee.Keep in mind that Duke played in NFL Europe, and as a result had a roster excemption. It didn't even cost Denver a roster spot if they wanted to keep Duke. Really, it wouldn't have cost them anything at all. If they had any intention of keeping Duke, they at least would have kept him for a couple of months so their training staff could work on rehabbing him in a controlled environment. As I said, keeping him would have cost nothing in terms of money or opportunity (aside from his workout pay, which is a mere pittance compared to the money that Denver's shelling out for their players).depends how deep your rosters go. it wouldn't suprise me at all if he re-signs.So would it be safe for me to drop him in my Dynasty league? He's not listed on their NFL.com depth chart. And what's going on with Wesley Duke? The fact that Denver cut him immediately is conclusive proof, in my mind, that they have absolutely no desire to ever have him play for them ever again. At this point, his ACL tears are seen as chronic, and Denver is 100% convinced he has no future in the NFL. Feel free to cut him on your dynasty squad.
