This is the more likely scenario. My guess is one of two possible scenarios...
1. Warren is toast, done, injured, cancerous or all of the above and Shanny just unloaded his #### on his most hated rival.
2. Warren still has something left, but Shanny would rather see him go to the less threatening Raiders than hit free agency and sign with the Colts.
they were tough last year. Raiders d is very underrated. Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your stance, their offensive line and QB situation is absolutely horrible. The Raiders are going to be tough to score points on this year...
They've looked A LOT better this preseason than last. Don't underestimate the change of offensive coaches/system.I'm not saying they're going to be the Saints or Colts offense, but I'm becoming more and more optimistic that they won't be "absolutely horrible" as each week and exhibition game passes.Kiffin couldn't have done a better job so far IMO (except for drafting JaMarcus over Calvin).Unfortunately, or fortunately depending on your stance, their offensive line and QB situation is absolutely horrible.
This is my opinion. I remember him on Cleveland's line. He has no motor and takes no initiative. He was not worthy of a 1st rnd pick, IMO. Shanny realized this and pushed him off on a division rival and laughed the whole time I'm sure. There were plenty of articles out there saying Gerrard "Big Money" Warren has serious un-tapped potential, but there are just as many, if not more, articles that show how worthless he is/was.My guess is one of two possible scenarios...

From a broncos MB: local radio says its a 5th rounder.No higher than a 5th, I hope.
Warren was great in 2005, probably the second best defender on the team outside of Champ Bailey. He had turf toe in both of his big toes last season (which, I'm sure you'll agree, probably had an impact on how much push he was able to generate), and now he doesn't fit with Bates' scheme. Still, Denver never goes 13-3 and makes the AFCCG if not for Gerard Warren. This Broncos fan has no regrets about the Gerard Warren era. This is my opinion. I remember him on Cleveland's line. Warren has the rep of being lazy. Let's see what playing next to Sapp does for his motivation. I doubt Sapp will be reluctant to voice his opinion if Warren doesn't play as hard as the rest of the D. A fifth round pick is a cheap price to pay.I'll take him for a 5th. W/ T.Kelly moving to end, we were left w/ only Sapp and Sands. A 5th rounder for a vet #3 is $ well spent. Better than the typical Raider 5th round pick (4.33 40 WR or CB) that never gets a start in the NFL.
Sign of the Apocalypse: Raiders, Broncos tradeThe Oakland Raiders and Denver Broncos stayed civil long enough to (gulp) agree on a trade Monday, sending defensive tackle Gerard Warren to the Raiders for an undisclosed draft pick. What next, Armageddon? The furious rivals haven't swapped players since 1993. The blood is so boiled, Raiders defensive tackle Warren Sapp couldn't believe he heard Al Davis utter Denver Broncos coach Mike Shanahan by name at a recent press conference."I was like, 'Holy ...'," Sapp said shaking his head.If Warren is going to provide help on the defensive line, that's news to Sapp. He was happy with the eight linemen the Raiders had, and doesn't sound impressed with Warren."If he makes it, he makes it," Sapp said. "If he doesn't, he doesn't. He's not going to make or break us. My eight's been here since I first walked in the door and said, 'There's my eight. I can win with those eight.' I don't see him cracking that eight."The Raiders might not be as sold on the two-deep at defensive line, which explains why they traded for Warren after training camp ended.Sapp, 34, wants to limit his playing time to about 45 snaps this season to stay fresh. Terdell Sands is the other starting defensive tackle, and Tommy Kelly has been moved to left defensive end.Anttaj Hawthorne is an established backup at tackle, Josh Shaw has been hurt, and the other only option has former defensive end Tyler Brayton, who is in danger of getting cut. That brings us back to Warren, who signed a six-year, $36 million with Denver last year but struggled with toe injuries.
