Thankfully I didn't buy the reaches being made here and steered clear of this mess. I'll wait for Fred to get back come for a nice home stretch schedule. It is no knock on Brown that he hasn't made the active roster yet?

Of course the better RB will get the carries.. I just am not hopping on the band wagon assuming a year to date inactive player is said guy.The teams 3rd string active RB is basically just a special teams player and an insurance policy in case of what just happened. If Dixon is better than Bryce at special teams then it makes complete sense to have the guy out there that is going to help your team win. Now that they are both going to be playing RB and not special teams, don't you think that the better RB will be getting the majority of the carries?I'd love to have observed his talents, however his talent seems to have had him 4th on the depth chart and inactive all year.Observable talent. Watch some football this weekend it will cure your ills.Dixon is the one playing even when Spiller and Fred were healthy.
What am I missing to assume Brown would get more work than him now?
He is so good they didn't know how to use him?
If the team comes out and says they are leaning one way or the other, I'd like to see that.
I have no dog in this race (yet).
I kind of agree. After yesterday it looks like it will be Fred's job when he returns. Dixon will return to the #2 spot and Brown may return to the inactive list.Thankfully I didn't buy the reaches being made here and steered clear of this mess. I don;t understand statements like this - if you have somebody who's value has diminished to the point he's droppable - then you drop him and take a chance on a guy like this where he has talent and an opportunity is present. Cost me nothing to pick him up and wait and see. I would rather do that than have the guy explode and not be able to get him the following week.Thankfully I didn't buy the reaches being made here and steered clear of this mess. His fumble was quite bad, and made worse because he would have scored on the play. However, it was encouraging that they kept going back to him, and he looked explosive when he had the ball.Didn't get to see much of the game but today Bryce got some work and his box score looks decent even with the fumble.
- 7 rushes for 35 yards
- 6 receptions for 65 yards
That's not bad.
Will be interesting to see whose workload slips when Fred gets more snaps this week. Dixon had a nice game, too.His fumble was quite bad, and made worse because he would have scored on the play. Thought the fumble was actually a really good defensive play. Came from the backside and made direct contact on the ball while it was against his body. All the defenders were to his left. Not entirely NOT Brown's fault, but more of a good defensive play than a bad offensive. His fumble was quite bad, and made worse because he would have scored on the play. Almost any time a rb fumbles it's his fault and he shouldn't ever get the ball punched out. I have some hopes for him but he has to quit fumbling and bouncing every play outside.DaveL said:Thought the fumble was actually a really good defensive play. A few plays later Brown made a really nice catch on a hard thrown ball by Orton. One I feel most rb's drop (I don't have a clip of gif of this, just in watching live)
Ok, I just watched every play and it appears to be somewhat good news for you. All of Brown's receptions were designed plays. None were dump offs. The bad news is that two of them were simply inside pitches, so they were effectively inside handoffs. His other four receptions he was the 1st read on all of them where he pretty much just ran kind of a slant out of the backfield and they were all very successful plays (10+ yard each). He caught them with is hands and looked very fluid. If Fred Jax is inactive tonight-- does BB have any value?? I currently have Cooks plugged in at flex but like BB's upside to hit a home run?? Anyone with more knowledge of me have any input? I mean I saw the 6 grabs last week but were they designed? or checkdowns/flukey??
HELP!!
I disagree. I often see fumbles which appear to just be a bad break for the RB or a great play by the defender. It is impossible to protect the ball from all angles with one hand. In this case, he had it nicely tucked away and the defender hit it perfectly. Had another defender not been coming from his left, he could have afforded to use both hands, but he was going to need to stiff arm to get in for the touchdown.Almost any time a rb fumbles it's his fault and he shouldn't ever get the ball punched out. Not saying I don't disagree but it might be a little harsh of an assessment. He had the ball well tucked with one arm but the defender made a great play. Most RBs running on a break away into the end zone will be holding the ball with one arm tucked.I disagree. Also, watch all the plays. He didn't erroneously break a single play to the outside. Bryce played a good game. If Jackson is out, he should be in lineups even against a stout D like Miami.
All depends on FJax status. I'm deciding between him and Mason is PPR.Anyone playing Brown this week?
I'm pretty sure I'm playing him no matter what even though I own FJax. Obviously I hope FJax doesn't play, but even if he does, I expect Brown to get more of a load this week than he did last week. He looked good and apparently FJax is in worse shape than he was last week. Not expecting a ton, but hoping for a similar stat line to last week.Anyone playing Brown this week?
You think so? I have Vereen over Mckinnon right now and if FJax is out I'd consider Brown over both...I'm playing Lynch, Lacy and McKinnon over him this week. Thought about switching in Brown for McKinnon but can't take the chance since McKinnon is basically a lock for double digit points in PPR.
The Buffalo News says it's "probably a good night to start Bryce Brown in PPR fantasy leagues."
Fred Jackson (groin) has just about been ruled out. It leaves the explosive Brown to pair with Anthony Dixon, and we'd be surprised if the plodding Dixon were able to get much going on the road against a Dolphins defense that ranks seventh in YPC against (3.74). Beat man Tim Graham expects a lot of short passes to Brown, who had 6-65-0 through the air last week. The Bills went back to him after a fumble, showing confidence even though Jackson was active for that game.

Yes one of these was an ankle tackle away from a score after a nifty bit of running for 8 yards. He should have had one score and could possibly have had 2.Ok, I just watched every play and it appears to be somewhat good news for you. All of Brown's receptions were designed plays. Some more good news is that he only tried to bounce one play outside, but this was because the play got blown up. He ended up losing 2 yards. If he'd stayed on the intended path he might've lost only 1 yard. He had exactly zero running plays designed to the outside which I think is a mistake. They should utilize his speed, but I don't want to be too critical because that's precisely what they did with those four passing plays I mentioned earlier. His route pretty much called for him to bolt diagonally for the sideline.
The one incomplete pass was a sideline go route in which Brown was the 2nd option and Orton threw the ball out of bounds. He was pretty far downfield at that point, but well covered. Looked like a play designed for Spiller.
Even if Jackson plays, Bryce should continue to get Spiller reps. Given his effectiveness catching out of the backfield, they'd be crazy to not continue to utilize him in this way. Jackson is good, but Bryce's speed is critical for the success of these plays.
FJax being out definitely changes things. Before, I felt Brown had a lower floor and higher ceiling, but now they probably have a similar floor so I'm starting Brown over McKinnon. You think so? I can't decide on him or Vereen or McKinnon at RB2really want to flex him, but over Bradshaw or WR Cooks? Seriously considering it. How is Miami against RBs who can cat
It's decisions like that (no matter what you choose) on Thursday nights that I hate. I'm fine with my studs playing on Thursday because they are guys who I start no matter what, but those tough calls are hard to swallow if they backfire and you have 3 days to think about it.Oh My...Gonna start him over Lamar Miller, Jennings, Mathews, and T-Rich in a PPR league. God that seems dumb, but Miller, Jennings and Mathews just have the potential to be too limited this week...and who really wants to start Richardson.
The problem with Riddick is he's literally only catching passes. So if he doesn't catch 5+ balls or a td, you're staring at a 2-3 point line.Currently debating BB over Riddick -- both are good PPR options with their primaries out, but both face tough defenses.
This is what I'm facing -- I've currently got CJ Anderson and Ball starting over BB, but I may very well start BB over Ball.Would you start him over Ball?
I wouldn't put too much stock into the 'road team on Thursday night' theory. There have been 10 Thursday night games thus far. 1 of which was the opening game of the year where Rodgers and company were blown out. That doesn't count in terms of 'short week' preparation/travel etc etc. So in 9 'short week' games, 6 of those road teams combined to average just under 30 pts/game. In other words only 3 clunkers in 9 games by the road team. We've also seen the home team be just dreadful in the last 2 games.. Long story short, who the heck knows.very tempted to swing for the fence and flex him over rbbc terrance west or an injured brandon marshall, but history and common sense is telling me its a road game on a short week in primetime against a top defense in one of the lowest scoring projections of the week. last time i got cute like that i flexed oliver against the broncos and that was nearly a disaster.
I'm assuming the other rb u have is a monster as well?Nightmare scenario shaping up for me. I have Foster, who suddenly looks very dicey to play and will have to decide tonight whether to insert Bryce Brown for him. Not the week I wanted to have to make a Thursday decision on Foster's health, which hasn't exactly been easy to predict.
In over Wallace/Vereen...FWIW, I just stuck him in the lineup over Mike Wallace tonight. Other option to sit was DeAndre Hopkins, but I decided I only want one guy in this Thursday nighter, so Hopkins stays in the lineup and Wallace sits.
I guess what I'm saying is, if you have Wallace put him in because I just gauranteed him a huuuuge night.
