I'm glad he's a 34th rounder instead of a 38th.  I've always admired McGowan's persistence. 

I drafted him as a 25 year old in the original Serious Biz draft.  I think he'd already had one TJS by then.  He's missed three complete seasons since then and has gone through tremendous pain.  But he's managed to outlast Shawn Marcum, Jesse Litsch, Brandon League, Jesse Accardo and the rest of that Blue Jays staff.  He's pitched most of his career in the AL and I can't recall ever seeing him pitch, but I like to see his name pop up in a major league boxscore.

I have a hard time reacting to it, I loved him as a Blue Jay, even though he was a bit of a let down here, like you say, he seemed like a great guy. At the same time, that $210 million contract was awful from day one and the injury significantly weakens Boston, which is nice as a Jays fan. So basically, I feel bad for him but #### the Red Sox.
