Both owner: inm8_2 and owner: swais own Sean Doolittle.  That's clearly not right. It's the only duplicate though!

Related: Someone needs to tell me who all these owners are. Everyone please post your WIS name if it's not obvious.

Eephus already randomized the divisions, posted 2 posts up from your post this morning. I suppose it doesn’t really matter either way, let’s just get this thing started!

Let me know if I did something wrong. Doolittle was on my fantrax team. Did I space out and trade him?

I think:

Kopkinds- sammy

usfdons- SNC

Nwickman- Frosty

Loudhogan- Kraft

bulldogben- Sparty

Dalberton- Doug

Inma8_2- Tobias

garyx23- SCBF

swais- Cheese

Looks like my bad, I must have gotten it mixed up on the spreadsheet.  I'll go ahead and take him off my team, taking me down to 1175 innings.

Sorry guys. I wish there was a way to fix it. If anyone wants to trade me a useless starter in exchange for some bench player so I can keep my era closer to 10 than 20 I'm happy to oblige.

Wish I had some innings to donate, unfortunately I'm strapped. :kicksrock:

We really should allow for non drafted pitchers to somehow be added in cases like this(assume there are always some innings undrafted). Maybe if you fall beneath a pre determined innings threshold you get to draft them or something. A team that is crazy short on innings isn't good for the league IMO.

Sent you a PM.

I appreciate that.  I tried everything, went through the draft twice and found every eligible inning I could (and then some, apparently :( ).

I don't want to screw things up for you all, so if someone wants to make me an offer I'm ready to be taken advantage of. I figure playing tired hitters won't throw off the stats as much as playing tired pitchers.

You can have Chris Tillman for free, unless somebody claimed him already.

Look, if anyone is short innings, we can wait 7ntil you can find some. No reason to rush someome’s if it is incomplete and they are going to get destroyed. Everyone should have some fun doing this. I’ve had teams that sucked and I can’t imagine how much worse it would be if I was rushed into starting without enough innings. I am only pushing to start to motivate the foot-draggers. One we hit Thursday it’s going to be even more difficult to get started before next week. Sorry if I offended anyone with my pushing.

So, I have Daniel Murphy playing 3B and going with a 6-man starting rotation. What's the worst that could happen?

I've also got a 6-man rotation, and no outfielders with range better than D+. And my team is "good"

Basically if Turner/Correa/Votto can generate about 500 runs between them, we'll be OK, because the rest of my team is turrible.

Do I need to set a lingering? How long is it good for. If I don't want my pitcher to face a lefty once he's twice through the line up, can I set that,?

Pretty sure that was supposed to stay lineup.

Yes, you can set one vs. lefties and one vs. righties. It will stay there all year if you don’t make any changes.

You can’t control things like number of times to face a pitcher. In advanced stats you can choose the odds each of your players get pinch hit for, pinch ran for, how often they steal, and a few other things. You also can set up hierarchies of who will be your pinch hitter in certain situations (I.e. against a righty or against a lefty, if you need power or just someone to get on base).

You can also set your number of pitches each starter or reliever throws and what inning they can be called into the game.

Read through the legend at the bottom of each screen. It should do a decent job of explaining what each setting is.

You can set a lineup, yes. The computer will automatically make one for you but it might be dumb. When you're on the website (https://www.whatifsports.com/mlb-l/manage.asp) then click "manage team" and you'll see all your manager options.

You can set pitch counts for pitchers. They'll do bad if they exceed their real life innings per game by too much, so most relievers can only throw 15 pitches, and it would definitely be bad to start them.

Well ####, with all the delay I didn't give a thorough check on my team before going live... first time in like 30 of these I screwed up who I picked.

@jfranco77 - do I need to submit a ticket to swap out a player and get the right guy on my roster? TIA

:bag:

as if my life ain't complicated enough even WIS is screwin with me!

My starters average 1.5 HR/9. That's a lot of HRs.
I think most people are in this boat with how many HRs were hit this year.
Sometime around Labor Day, I was looking in the fine print of our local sports section ... checking out AL & NL leaders in various high-level traditional stats. The lists go 50 or more deep. Among qualifiers (1 IP/league game), there were maybe 25 pitchers in all of baseball with an ERA below 4.00.

Looking at 2017 year end stats now out of curiosity ... 12 AL qualifiers and 15 NL qualifiers finished with ERAs below 4.00.

Just to pick some recentish years at random, here's at the same stats for:

2007: 21 in the AL, 19 in the NL
2008: 20 AL, 26 NL
2009: 17 AL, 24 NL
2010: 24 AL, 32 NL
2011: 24 AL, 37 NL (!)
2012: 19 AL, 34 NL

To be clear -- all those qualifiers pitched at least 162 innings. So it's all high-usage starters. But still ... the fact that the 2017 rate of qualifiers to get below 4.00 is less than half of what is was in 2010-11 seems meaningful.

I have three (Kluber, Cobb & Chacin) so maybe my team isn't as crap as I thought.

nm, I found them in the minors and called them up.

Do the salaries matter?

Is there a limitation on how many waiver moves I can make in a season?

Do we play one game per day?

Salaries no for our league.

No waivers but you can call real mlb players up and down unlimited. I think they make them stay down 3 games when demoted.

3 games per day.

Expanding on what Cheese said, there's a waiver deadline around game 120, so unlimited moves until then and then it locks.  Also don't use any of the made-up players.

I thought rosters would expand at the end of the season... good to know.

Made up players?

After 3 games it seems like it’s going to be a very offensive-oriented league. The league average ERA is 5.28.

I’m pretty sure that the team with the best pitching is going to be very good in this.
