***BTTF VI: Draft Over! See you in October (2 Viewers)

On of my green flags about to turn: Christian Vazquez (elbow) will be activated ahead of Friday's game against the Blue Jays. WOOT!

nv; 3 red crosses, 13 green flags......10 blue jays including gavin Floyd, chad girodo, pat venditte, joe biagini, jesus Montero, junior lake and dom brown.
You're not calling me a homer are you

Hoping that's not being considered a lot since I have 19 flags and  5 crosses not even factoring in the 3 guys fantrax doesn't have in the system

22 Greenies here!  Not sure if thats a bad thing or not... I guess it depends on how many become active players.

My (lack of) bullpen is scary.  Totally whiffed on Avila on the Dodgers.  I have three really solid guys... but that's IT.  Hopefully my 8 starters can remain generally healthy (fingers crossed, curse begun) and a couple will be useful in the pen.

Thankfully Semien has picked it up a little at SS, but little power overall which is a bit disconcerting. Need Eddie E, Cespy and Rasmus to jack a few, not to mention Valencia.

2 of my greens just got the tommy john (rumbelow and Marco Gonzales)  WHEEEEE!

While I have no 2B at the moment (Devon Travis?), I do have two starting SS in Simmons/Galvis (both can't hit).

I have 2 starting Catchers in Wilson Ramos and Carlos Perez...as well as 2 backup catchers that are active (Lobaton and Thole)

Tried to get two starters at SS, C and CF (Buxton/Martin) figuring that if one died I'd at least have one.  Seems to be working so far?

As far as position players:

C - one fulltimer in Cervelli and his awful backup Chris Stewart. Good news is Holaday is getting almost half the PAs for the rangers.  Bad news is what hes doing - or not doing - with those PAs.

2B - Zobrist, who may actually just stick there which sucks a little, Cesar Hernandez who i had last year is having a decent start as a table setter. May get an additional half season of PAs by combining Kelby Tomlinson and Andres Blanco.

SS - Semien better come through. Backups are all greenies.

OF - 5 guys of varying meh pkus KIM!!!  (.625 OBP in 8 PAs)

13 Starts, three slated to go tonight.

C - Iannetta and Clevenger getting all the time in Seattle, plus Mesoraco who is terrible so far.

1B - Matt Adams.  Terrible.

2B - Brian Dozier (terrible) and Adam Rosales (terrible)

3B - Manny Machado is good, but the four other guys I have here have combined for 0 at-bats

SS - Didi Gregorius (terrible) and Jose Ramirez (starting?)

OF - Six guys with lots of ABs, only one of whom is batting over .233

SP - Six guys in rotations, ranging from awesome so far (Nola) to serviceable (Jimmy Nelson)

RP - Four relievers who have thrown an inning.  This is going to be a problem.

C - Dumpster fire with Conger and Casali. Just hoping for enough ABs.

1B - Gambling on late quantity over quality most likely biting me in the ###. Wilkins and Singleton not sniffing the main roster, Smoak sucking, leaving Moreland my only hope. At least he finally went deep.

2B - Dee Gordon holding it down so far with early speed. Depth is crap.

3B - Prado (.333/.380/.422) outplaying A-Rod (.154/.250/.308) early on. Big finger to Super Dad LaRoche.

SS - Elvis lives!! For now. .375/.422/.425 with 8 RBIs.

OF - Bryce showing he was worth the overall number one. If the season started today, would go with Kemp (4 HR) and Hamilton (.182 AVG, 2 SB) with him, but keeping an eye on Weeks Jr, Stubbs and Rua with Maybin hopefully getting healthy.

P - 9 QS out of 16 overall starts means I might just be able to field a rotation. Bullpen innings also shouldn't be a problem. Bullpen talent will be. (EDIT: Forgot about Darvish and Chapman. Things looking up)

I should have like 12 decent to good relievers. Will be trading excess for help at catcher, possible starting pitcher upgrades and depth behind starting players.

Casey Kelly, my 45th round pick, got called up today.

I am solidly in the running for latest player drafted to make a contribution. Sure, he might throw three innings and need Tommy John surgery again. But his accomplishment honors our team and we are proud of him. :)

My 49th round pick is the Rockies starting catcher at the moment

I thought we only drafted 45 rounds?
50 rounds. My 50th round selection Tanner Scheppers should be back by the All-Star game and pitch important bullpen innings.

My 50th round selection Alex Torres could win the Cy Young Award in either league and bring back GIFs to this board.  Plus he wears a funny hat.

Let's see here ... it's early, but:

C - Stephen Vogt playing almost every day, usually at C, sometimes at DH. Tyler Flowers is raking and pushing more playing time. David Ross is spot-starting but may get enough PAs to be useful. Brayan Pena is supposed to be back sometime in May.

1B - Jose Abreu playing every day, but with a slumping BA. Power's still decent, though. Darin Ruf backs him up, and Ben Paulsen swings between 1B and LF.

2B - Jonathan Schoop slugging .522 so far, playing every day. Ryan Goins is also playing every day in Devon Travis' absence. Cliff Pennington is getting some spot time at 2B.

3B - Yangervis Solarte was red hot for one week, then got hurt. Supposed to some back in early May (but with MLB guys, who knows?). Thankfully, Marwin Gonzales is getting a lot of time at 3B ... could be part of a WIS platoon. Eric Campbell is with the big club for now, but he seems to only be the 25th man.

SS - Carlos Correa hitting well (.845 OPS) and is generally performing as advertised. Not much depth, though -- Goins and Pennington were supposed to get some SS PAs, but have none to date.

OF - Christian Yelich and Melky Cabrera raking and playing every day. Odubel Herrara, another everyday guy, could use a tad more BA, but he is walking a ton. Paulsen, Gregor Blanco, and Brandon Barnes seem to provide adequate depth. Tommy Pham is supposed to be back in May.

SP - Seven guys getting regular rotation turns. Cole Hamels and Brandon Finnegan have been studs. James Shields has been decent. Chris Tillman and Jeremy Hellickson need to tighten it up some, but should be OK for the back end of a WIS rotation. Tommy Milone and Shane Greene are all over the place ... hoping one of those two recovers enough to help. Waiting in the wings: Andrew Heaney and Mike Foltynewicz should rejoin their teams at some point and get regular starts. Nick Marrtinez is actually up with the Rangers right now, but hasn't pitched an inning yet.

RP - Kenley Jansen has a .391 WHIP. Vidal Nuno and John Axford are sub-0.90 WHIP so far. Xavier Cedeno has been very solid in mid-relief. Sean Doolittle and Trevor Cahill have had flashes, but need more consistency. Brad BOxberger and Josh Collmenter are supposed to return to their club at some point ... but who knows when?

ARRIETA WITH THE NO-NO!

Vaults me into an early leader spot, but a lot of concern with Valencia's hammy. No depth at 3rd at all.

It would make sense for us each to have about 33 active players, right?   32 MLB teams X 25 man rosters = 800 players/24 WIS teams = 33.3.

I have 32- was at exactly 33 to start the year but Swihart demoted.

Got back three pitchers in the last week or so.  Tony Wilson back from his injury, Alex Weber called up as a rook in relief and Luis Avilan called up last night as well.  That's some comfort on the pitching depth side in the pen.

Still smarting from Valencia who is not on the DL - not that I should be surprised but it's one of my most shallow positions at 3B.  Let's go Andres Blanco and getting some decent starts at third.  Especially since Valencia's at like .908 FLD

29 active plus Valencia on the DL, everyone else is a Greenie.

16 Quality Starts to date.

:deadbanana:

Not this thread, but my team.  After that brief stint atop the rankings, I've been decimated and falling as such.  Lost my 3B, 1B, CF just for starters.  Oof.

COME ON KIM! Seriously Orioles, Pedro Alverez is awful, let the Korean kid play.

My team is 4th in Fantrax despite being mostly terrible. If things keep going this way I will be a very active GM.

Catcher - I have 57 total plate appearances as Gary Sanchez is consigned to AAA forever and Schwarber blew up

First base - 122pa, 280/344/654 is the line my backup is putting up. All Chris Carter does is hit homers

Second base - Lemahieu 118pa 302/353/434 and Utley 111pa 298/405/436

Shortstop - Asdrubal has been great, will surely cool off, and Villar 120pa 257/364/366 is my backup

Third base - Go Brandon Drury (104pa 310/327/600) right now Todd Frazier would be on the bench

Left field - D Peralta 260/321/439

Center field - Trout doing Trout things, 313/398/565

Right field - Bruce 234/284/467

Bench - Matt Joyce heading for Cookie-dom (48pa 351/500/730), and Reimold too (45pa 333/378/619)

Pitching - hey, look how good my offense is!

OK, wide awake at 2am - coming to the quarter point of the season.

POSITION PLAYERS

1B - Eddie Encarnacion.  Come on Eddie, need to get started here.  7 HR is not terrible, but OBP under .300 and .430 SLG is.

2B - Ben Zobrist.  Been an on base machine while picking up some XBHs last couple of weeks.  Cesar Hernandez doing as expected as a serviceable backup.

3B - Danny Valencia has missed almost 20 games already with the hammy, but he's rounded out a nice line of .324 | .361 | .456 with his recent power bump. If, and its a 'UGE if, he stays healthy...

SS - Marcus Semien only hits HRs.  9 of them and a .449 SLG, not bad for a SS.  Then you realize his isolated slg is damn nice when his avg. is barely above the mendoza line at .207.  I guess I'll take it? 7 hitter?

C - F Cervelli might not hit for power, but he's been near or above .400 OBP all season. I have his backup in C Stewart (crap, but playable) and over 50 pretty crappy PAs already from Holaday - but they are catcher PAs at least.

OF - I suppose more good than bad here, but not much room for error.  Cespedes has been great, cooling of late though (not unexpected). Holliday is putting up a good start getting his SLG above .510 while recovering from a really low BA early on. Rasmus started en fuego but has really cooled. Rickard is on the wrong side of meh.  Oh, and Kim has been an infield hit machine.  Yeah, that will continue. Oh, and Des Jennings really really sucks.

UTIL - Andres Blanco has been great, the question is will he be playable at the positions he will qualify for (2B: 5 games 3B: 4 SS: 3 and 1B 4 to boot). Hope to hell his 3B numbers are ok with Danny V's injuries and suckiness on Def. K Tomlinson started horribly, still has no power, but 2B/SS looks quite possible and currently at .389 OBP.

PITCHING

SP - Arrieta.  Cueto pretty much as expected (would hope slightly lower than 1.16 whip, but few HRs).  J Ross is the wild card as if this is his year it (1.1 whip so far) that would be huge.  Colon at 1.16 whip... better than expected.   Drops precipitously after that. Justin Nicolino could be ok if he sticks - no strikeouts but could (could) be a serviceable part of a share for the 5 spot in the rotation. Colin Rea has shown some potential also.  As in potentially crappy but maybe some innings.

RP - Strickland, Melancon and Tony Wilson are meh though not terrible but need to pitch a bunch of really good IP for my pen to be anything close to where it needs to be. Benoit hurt and not much else.

FARM SYSTEM

Renato Nunez 3B in the A's system has been stroking.  Hope Valencia can stay on the field but Nunez might be a bit of a wildcard there.  With Valbuena sucking in Houston some Colin Moran rumblings (though he's be an ok OBP guy with nominal power at best).  But, it's a THIN position for me. Maybe Catcher Tom Murphy gets called up at some point? Or not. Ouch, not much here on offense.

Pitching I have had a number of guys up and down. For a reason.  Brian Johnson could see some innings?

Catcher Chris Herrmann unofficial pre-season winner of the worst player drafted award is slugging .600 and starting in CF today.  Of course he plays for the Diamondbacks.

So, which of you LOSERS lives a half mile from one of your draftees?

oh, none?

just Koya? Because that where Cespdes and his uber Jeep reside?

Pretty sure Eephus shared a flat with Stu Miller back in '58 as a part of an effort to make the Giants feel at home in San Francisco.

May 31 #SQUAD update BATS:

CA:  W. Ramos 154 PA - 326/370/514,  6 HR, 4/14 CS

CA: C. Perez 118 PA - 200/246/305, 2 HR, 9/21 CS

Plenty of catcher PAs so far.  Perez starting to hit a bit of late, is the better defender.  Also have ####ty Lobaton and Thole as backups. B+ overall

1B: C. Davis 212 PA - 227/340/448, 10 HR

DH: V. Martinez 190 PA - 345/389/529, 7 HR

1B: M. Reynolds 168 PA - 307/375/427 2 HR

Slow start for Davis, but think he'll be fine.  VMart and Reynolds doing really well.  Too bad Reynolds hasn't played 3B.  B+

2B: Devon Travis 22 PA - 273 AVG

2B: Tim Beckham 58 PA - .183 AVG

:puke:  Travis back, so maybe I get a decent half season.  F+?

3B: Moustakas 113 PA - 240/301/500, 7 HR

3B: H Perez 72 PA - 313/352/507, 3 HR, 7 SB

Mous was doing ok, then he died, Perez has come on and been awesome of late.  Sano has 5 games at 3B too and maybe gets more if Plouffe is traded. D+

SS: A. Simmons 118 PA - 219/246/281, 1 HR

SS: F. Galvis 199 PA - 258/290/347, 5 HR, 3 SB

Simmons on DL, back soon.  Two good defenders with tiny bats.  One of them may need to play 2B too.  Blech. C-

OF: Souza 182 PA - 257/319/461, 9 HR

OF: L. Martin 167 PA - 262/339/483, 9 HR, 8 SB

OF: Sano 209 PA - 236/340/461, 11 HR

OF: D. Santana 131 PA - 258/290/347 10 SB

Also have Buxton back from AAA and ####ty Oswaldo Arcia.  Decent depth and performance...Sano starting to mash.  B
