Buffalo's last defensive stand (1 Viewer)

They KNOW the Cowboys will throw a 5 yard pass to the sidelines and the give 10 yard cushions? In that situation you have to play to tackle the receiver before he can get out of bounds.

BRILLIANT!

On that alone they deserved to lose the game.

Totally agree. I couldn't believe they just gave the receivers that much of a cushion. **** Jauron strikes again!

Unbelievable! Were they playing against a Hail Mary? I'd like to think an NFL defense can play a few guys up along the sideline and a few others deep for the long pass. Maybe it's just me.

Seriously, one of the more pathetic things I've seen in a football game. How in the world does that happen at any level of football, let alone the NFL? I can't even comprehend how it's possible with a head coach that used to be a defensive coordinator and a cornerbacks coach.

It's just implausible in the extreme that he didn't call a play where the CBs were lined up to stop the 3-10 yard out, so I have to assume the players totally blew that one.

i've been a bills fan a LONG time. at halftime I said they would lose at the final whistle. my wife laughed and said 'have a little faith'

typical Bills, lets review:

1. Norwood = wide right

2. 1999 = music city miracle forward pass lateral BS

3. week 1 this year = Denver last second FG

4. Tonight!!!

I don't care who the coach is or who the players are, they can not win a close game.

I posted this in the game thread as well. That was absolutely terrible defending. I mean people are getting paid a lot of money to prep their defense for situations like that and players are getting paid lots of money to know situations like that. I mean that is not lack of execution it is just lack of knowing the situation which is unacceptable.

I couldn't understand this either. There were two places they were realistically going with the ball. The fact that they were able to complete that pass was mind-boggling. The only thing I could figure was that they were worried about the Cowboys going up top and decided to play percentages on the long FG.

Man the Bills blew that game.

If that was the case the defensive coordinator needs to be fired.

The game is over if the outside defender releases his man and just waits there for the under-WR to come to him. Easy to defend, they ran the same damn play twice in a row!

I was thinking if I were a defensive coordinator, knowing Dallas had zero timeouts and needed 10 yards or whatever plus getting out of bounds I'd but up tight, tight , tight. Not only that, I'd totally give them the inside......dramatically over play the sideline just to force the play in the middle or be right there if they do try and throw sideline.Putting myself in that situation, for a second I thought what if Garrett gambled and did a stop and go and threw the ball deep and I was beat on that play. There was a slight hesitation but then I said, NO, that's less likely and I would have did what I mentioned up above.

I would have dropped all 11 guys into coverage. There were only a few seconds left. Blanket those sidelines, and have a few guys cover the deep ball. Any play that didn't get out of bounds or score would've been the final play of the game.

Uh no.You play it as if it's 3rd and 10. It's not prevent. You bump the WRs. You just cant give them a free out pattern in that situation.

Your defense gets 6 turnovers and gives your team a fighting chance despite the abominable buffalo offense, and you guys are #####in about how the defense coaching is inept. Folk off and NO GOAL to ya.

Now they can get a higher pick in the draft and really reach for some late first round talent early. Was America ready for Buffalo to win? Do we really need Trent Edwards dating American Idol chicks and appearing on every magazine cover and TV commercial? No, Tony Romo is America's D-Bag of choice. Besides Buffalo covered the spread on MNF, that is all that matters. See you in another 13 years.

:goodposting: Everyone is fawning all over Edwards but he didn't really impress me at all. He just threw a bunch of dumpoffs, screens, and short curls to TEs. He did very little for the offense. And then he made a disastrous decision and threw that INT when all they needed was a FG to ice the game. And the offensive line is just terrible still. On the 4th and 1 early in the game they got shoved straight back and Lynch actually lost a yard (terrible playcall IMO they should have gone with the quick snap and QB keeper). The offensive line was routinely getting blown up and shoved into the backfield. How can you have a +5 turnover differential and lose the game? That's just complete ineptness on the offensive side of the ball.

They blew the game when they asked their rookie QB to throw the football on first and third downs when they were at the 14 yard line and had an 8 point lead with only 7:09 remaining. Three dives into the middle runs 2 minutes off the clock and gives them an easy FG attempt for an 11 point lead with about 5:15 left in the game. But hey, it's **** Jauron so what do you expect?

not to mention - the coaches should have called a timeout to remind the defenders what to do.
