Build a FRANCHISE draft year 2 (2 Viewers)

Alright, is it just me or are people letting there timer expire way too frequently lately? It's getting really annoying..it's not that hard to pre-draft or check in every once in a while to know if you're gonna be on the clock soon.
Agreed. The point of us using MFL was the pre-draft feature. Yet, we've had way too many time-outs recently. I assumed the idea when signing up was to stick around for the whole draft.

It's not hard to check in once or twice a day.

If someone is losing interest or way too busy, the best thing to do is just say so. We can get someone to finish it out in a timely manner.

Was there ever a set plan decided for how rookie draft order will go?
Yes it's reverse order of the vet draft. Non-snake
So being in the middle blows
I honestly don't see how it blows (wouldn't it be mostly the same with a snake draft anyway?). I don't think any spot in this draft does. And also I would like to point out that everyone has had several chances to voice their opinion on this matter including a vote in a poll in which the same pick in every round won.
I was just making a statement not saying it the wrong solution.. Just never gives the middle the chance at top talent in either draft but it also puts them in a decent spot for both.

I'm sorry for misinterpreting your post.

I can understand your statement, but I disagree. I was in a middle position last year and in my opinion it was easier to draft from there than from the tail. I never felt like I had to reach for talent and, in this draft, players like Manning, Brady, Foles, Sherman, Quinn, etc were all available in the middle spots. You could choose any team building strategy you wanted and be successful.

True. It does give you the most flexibility since you're not tied to an elite player at the top and feel the need to surround them with talent and not reaching for talent in rounds when stuck at bottom Guess I was going more on having to hope talent you want falls

Still seeing a few quality players out there. But I am really looking forward to the rookie draft. Should be pretty fun.
Would anyone else be interested in starting the rookie draft after we complete round 40 of the vet draft, and leave 6 rounds of vets to fill holes after the rookie draft? Seems more akin to the NFL's off-season where free agency continues after the draft, although the top FAs are usually picked over at that point.

I like this idea a lot...definitely in favor of it.

I'm a big fan of this idea as well

I'm on board too.

Also, as my pick comment suggests, I don't want Beanie Wells. He's just a placeholder for Tim Lelito, interior offensive lineman for the Saints.

Yes!

I think it's safe to say we need a new Browns owner. Timer's expired 4 straight times and they have 2 outstanding picks now.

I raise a similar concern with the Eagles and Late225. He has two outstanding picks as well.
If I recall from last year, we had a lot of people starting to drop off when it was their turn in the draft. I think it was much later than this, but i remember some teams having 4-5 outstanding picks. At this point, people lose steam.

Maybe it's not a good thing that my Lions have six Jaguars. Attracted to losing?

Henne, Gerhart, Brown, Marks, Miller and Hayes are all decent role players, but glad I'm not counting too much on them.

I sent Soulfly a message letting him know he has two outstanding picks. Haven't heard back from him yet, but it is concerning that he's timed out 4 times in a row.

I think it comes with the territory when you choose to be the Lions.

Who's running the Giants? 3 OL? Ouch
That's me...I know, I know it's not looking good there. It wasn't my original plan, but as of now the bright side is that I have a top 10 pick in the rookie draft for every round and it's a deep group of OL talent this year so I should be able to pickup a couple quality starters. And there are some decent depth guys left in the vet draft. I think when all is said and done my OL will look surprisingly adequate.

Browns on the clock again, if he times out again (which will be 5 times in a row), we may have to make the picks for him. He already owes 2 outstanding picks.

I agree it is time to do something about this.
Its not his fault, none of the players left have a 90+ speed rating in Madden so whos left to pick really?
Someone can go ahead and come up with a three players for the Browns to finish those outstanding picks.

I say:

Kyle Cook C (he doesn't have a Center yet)

Frostee Rucker DE

Darian Stewart S

Anyone have objections to this?

I've been helping Nate with the commissioner duties (entering picks, changing players) so I went ahead and put those picks in for the Browns. If he decides to come back, and doesn't want them, then we can make changes. We can't have a team getting more than 3 picks behind.

As we get later in the draft just a thought I had. I think it should be stated somewhere that when selecting a backup OLineman it is the owners job to triple check that he is available before selecting as I can already see issues arising as someone drafts an Olineman already taken, then only after other picks are made is it discovered. I think for the sake of not having to deal with a potential issue we just all need to be aware of who is available.

Anyone drafting an O-Lineman needs to search through the draft page and be sure to check comments. Ctrl+F is the best way to do this.

Are we making the Browns' picks from now on? He's OTC now and I don't think it's worth coming to a complete halt this weekend just because of him.

They should also check this thread. For example the Dolphins selected Derek Newton, but because the timer had expired on him, he wasn't able to go back and put it in the comments. On the draft page it only has him taking Danny Noble.
