Bulger and Jackson (1 Viewer)

Sirius reported that Bulger no longer wants to play for Linehan and Jackson carved up Linehan for the QB change. Where is this leading? Linehan getting the boot or Bulger traded? One would have to think if 2 of your 3 best players aren't on board w/ the decision making going on the coach is sent packing. Hard to do in season though.. thoughts??

The vibe in the Rams locker room Wednesday and Thursday was that several Rams players weren't happy about the benching of Marc Bulger. But no one would say so publicly. Well, outspoken running back Steven Jackson took care of that Thursday night on his "Rolling the Dice" radio show on KLOU (103.3 FM). Jackson said benching Bulger was the "wrong decision." "He's our general," said Jackson, who then pointed out that you don't pay someone "$60-something million" and then sit him on the bench. Although he harbors no ill will against Trent Green, who replaces Bulger in the starting lineup Sunday against Buffalo, Jackson wondered aloud about what will happen when it's time for Bulger to return to the starting lineup? Jackson intimated strongly that Bulger would be unwilling to do so. Team sources did in fact tell the Post-Dispatch on Thursday that Bulger no longer wants to play for coach Scott Linehan. Bulger has declined comment for three consecutive days since his benching became public knowledge.

Linehan is probably gonna be fired soon.
2 years too late if you ask me. I never understood the hire in the first place. Linehan had never had any head coaching experience on ANY (not even when coaching high school ball) level before being hired in St. Louis. It was clear from season 1 that he was in over his head.

I'll be very surprised if Linehan's not fired after Sunday's game vs. Buffalo. St. Louis has a bye next week, which is probably what the ownership was waiting for to make a change. Linehan's lost the team, and he's done a horrible job, so I think he'll be gone by Monday.

Hate to say it, but shades of Petrino here. We saw it start with Holt on the sideline last year. This guy is such a lame duck coach right now...

Right -- Holt last year, Bulger and Jackson this year already. With a horribly ugly 0-4 start after Sunday, they can't justify keeping Linehan around when the team leaders publicly want him gone.I think there's a strong chance Bulger's back starting at QB under a new head coach after the bye. How well they do the rest of the season is another issue...

Bulger said he doesn't want to play for Linehan anymore-- not that he doesn't want to play for the Rams. Clearly this was Linehan's call and not necessarily supported by other coaches/staff. I think Linehan gets fired next week WIN or LOSE. You can't lose your best players and expect the owner to keep you around because you might eek out a couple of wins.

Kind of an unfair sutation for Trent Green. I'm sure he wanted his return to St. Louis to be better than this.
