Bush/McAllister (1 Viewer)

I searched and this really doesn't seem to be getting discussed.

Bush got a ton of touches but the better portion of carries still went to Deuce. So my questions are:

Is this basially an RBBC for McAllister since he'll be splitting all year?

Is he valuable in spite of that or was last week an anomaly?

Do you think Bush will eventually spend most of his time in the backfield and eat into Deuce's carries?

For me I think the answers are that he is indeed in an RBBC but with value. Think Priest/LJ last year only they're not as good but Bush playing WR compensates for it. What I really don't have a guess about it is how this will develop over the course of the season.

From what I saw..

It's kind of a RBBC with Bush lining up as a reciever during Duece's plays.

I like having Reggie Bush as my 3rd RB behind Rudi J and FWP....

Maroney is looking like a better #4RB everyday....

PS We can only have 4 RB's on our roster and with Samkon Gado on the WW - I'd have loved to pick up him, but I think these four are better than a Texans RB....

I like having Reggie Bush as my a 3rd RB (Fixed)Depending on what type of league you're in. In a TD league I don't think Reggie is that great...In a performance league I definitely think he's valuable as a RB3 or RB2, as it seems as if he'll get a lot of points from yardage....

I watched the whole game, but I don't have any official numbers, unfortunately.

From what I could tell, through 3 quarters Bush saw more "action" than Deuce. I believe he either had more carries up to that point or was pretty close to Deuce. In addition, as you noted, he was split wide on numerous occasions while Deuce was lined up in the backfield.

However, in the 4th Qtr., when the Saints were trying to run out the clock, Deuce was in the game and got most of the carries. This seemed like the right thing to do as Reggie has had some issues with fumbles in the past and he's still a rookie and you'd like the veteran getting those grind it out, seal the game type of carries.

Again, I don't have the official numbers, but this is what I remember.

So, going forward, my guess is that Bush gets used more and more. I don't think this is a true RBBC because Bush is involved in considerably more facets in the offense than is McAllister. Sure, Deuce had more carries (which I don't think will be the case all year), but Reggie had an additional 10 "looks" on top of the carries.

I don't know what to call the split, but a true RBBC this doesn't appear to be from what I saw.

I think Bush will be a good #2 RB since NO lines him up at WR at times. It seems he will get about 20 touches a game.

:D Actually I could use some liverwurst and a sixpack of PBR....

It's kinda like the USC backfield, with Reggie as Reggie and Deuce as LenDale White. In real football this is a perfect role for both guys IMO, but it's rather frustrating for fantasy; Reggie has more touches, but Deuce should get the goal-line love.

In leagues that de-emphasize rushing TDs in some manner, Bush is a very solid RB2 with upside, and Deuce is a decent RB3. In leagues with 6 pt. rushing TDs and no PPR or whatever, though, both are borderline RB2s or very good RB3s.

This is correct. I was tracking the game on gametracker and well into the second half Bush had more carries, and significantly more touches. Deuce got a lot of touches right at the end when they were running clock. Given that I don't expect N.O. to be running the clock often this year I would expect these numbers to look even more weighted towards Bush on most weeks.

I'm beginning to wonder if people are saying this because it makes them sound smart, or if they're just truly talking without actually paying any attention to what they're talking about. The goalline touches were split between Bush and Deuce. Bush got a carry inside the 5 as well as a pass target from inside the 5. He was also often out on the field with Deuce. There is very little similar between the way Bush/LenDale were used in college and the way Bush/Deuce were used this weekend other than the fact that there were two guys getting carries, in which case we may as well say it's kind of like the Denver backfield, or the NYJ backfield and we'd be just as wrong as we are in saying it's like the USC backfield.
