Buying Sell High Players? (1 Viewer)

In an AL only 5x5 keeper league, and I just lost my franchise when Johan went to the Mets. I traded basically my whole team for Teixeira and Johan at the end of last season so I could build for the future in a big way... that worked out well.

Another owner (seeing that I might need keepers now) offered me Blanton ($1.00), Posada ($1.10), OCab ($1.30) and Juan Rivera ($0.10) for Carl Crawford ($0.60).

I can keep 8 players - 4 pitchers & 4 batters or 3 pitchers and 5 batters. Salary cap is $32, my roster (and proposed keepers) is below:

If I dont take the trade

Pitchers - Lackey ($0.60), Hughes ($0.50), Escobar ($1.20)

Batters - Crawford ($0.60), M Young ($0.30)

Then possibly Scot Shields ($.40), Baldelli ($0.50), Bartlett ($.20), Betancourt ($.10) or Longoria ($0.50) - if he makes the team only, otherwise I lose him

If I take the trade

Batters - M Young ($0.30), Posada ($1.10), OCab ($1.30), Rivera ($0.10)

i'm confused on this one because I feel like I am buying all the sell high guys. Thoughts on this deal?

I wouldn't do it since Blanton still has a decent shot of getting dealt...then again I guess Crawford could get moved too. I'd much rather take the chance on a top 5 guy than a pu-pu platter.

Yeah I should have mentioned that I would put in some kind of provision where the deal would be off if someone gets dealt. I may try for Torii Hunter ($0.30) in place of OCab/Rivera but I dont know if that would fly. I could also get Matsui but his number is kind of high at $2.30.

The top "non-keeper" players like ARod go for roughly $5-5.50 for reference. A lot of good players get stuck at really cheap values because they were drafted and kept early in their careers, and therefore never hit the auction.
