Actually? I'm hoping that Galloway keeps it together to give Boston more room underneath for Owen-esque YAC.That Gruden quote is very old at this point. I believe from before the 1st pre-season game. At the very least he said basically the same thing two weeks ago. Throw in the two pre-season games and the TD and I think Rotoworld's actually got it right this time. Boston is the favorite to start opposite Galloway. And if Galloway goes down, look out.

If that's the case, then can you please keep Stovall for the rest of our sakes? Thanks. Then you have this:

The Tampa Tribune reports Buccaneers second-year WR Maurice Stovall was the early darling of training camp, earning daily plaudits from the coaching staff for his work ethic and production. That was before he went AWOL. "He's a magician," HC Jon Gruden said of the 2006 third-round pick. "He disappeared on me for about 10 days. "Now, he's showing up again. I think his legs are coming back. He showed up at training camp and was dominant. He had a great opening week or eight days. He did disappear, in my opinion, from what I wanted to see in the next 10 days." Stovall, who started the final two games of his rookie season, is battling former first-round pick WR Michael Clayton and WR David Boston for a starting spot opposite WR Joey Galloway.
I have Stovall, but I'm thinking about swapping him out for Boston. Whatever I do, I'm sure it'll be wrong.Maybe I'll avoid both and pick up someone like Bowe or Rice.

News: According to the Tampa Tribune, Bucs WR David Boston was arrested Thursday night on charges of driving under the influence. Boston, 29, was found passed out at the wheel of a dark red Range Rover, Pinellas Park police Capt. Sanfield Forseth said. The vehicle's engine was running. Boston told a Pinellas Park police officer he had left Orlando's Celebration area and was heading to Tampa International Airport, Forseth said. After having Boston complete a field sobriety test, the officer concluded he had probable cause to charge Boston with driving under the influence of a controlled substance or alcohol, Forseth said in a prepared statement. Breath tests indicated there was no alcohol in his system, and the results of a urine test are pending, Forseth said.
Ugh. I hope he was just tired.

Buzz may have been a poor choice of words... this thread may have an entirely different meaning now.

He was passed out at the wheel, but passed a breathalizer. Urine test pending.
Passed out, but no alcohol... I am saying drugs, possibly GHB. Just an assumption because I have heard of similar things happening where people pass out at the wheel on the stuff. This isn't good due to his histroy with the league and substance abuse. IIRC, that will be an automatic 4 game suspension if he test positive. :(
:(

Can't link you to radio 20 min ago.... Sorry :(
I agree.....he is SCREWED! It was fun while it lasted Mr. Boston...what a tease.Would have been better if he failed the breathalyzer and didn't have to take the urine. DUIs are like jaywalking in the NFL, he probably would have been fine (depending on where he is at in substance program). Now if he tests + for pot or worse, he's probably out of chances.
I don't know about that. Back home I knew guys who were way into body building at the gym all the time, watched their diet, etc. They were the worst users of recreational drugs I've ever know. From every kind of painkiller to ketamine to cocaine to E to GHB, you know name it, they used it.I did always find ironic that they combined those two past times. Of course, one of them also died of a heart attack at like 22.I'm not going to assume anything just yet. He's such a fanatic about his body that I can't imagine for a second that he'd use recreational drugs, so rather than jump to conclusions, I'll wait to see what the pee test says.:fingerscrossed:

I stand corrected.
Sorry, but...

It's doing just fine: "Breath tests indicated there was no alcohol in Boston's system."Having dared to be blasphemous of the hero of this Boston love-in thread the other day, I thought I'd check in to see how the Pro Bowl upside's doing lately.
Good luck with that. Urine test likely to show something worse than alcohol from a suspension standpoint..It's doing just fine: "Breath tests indicated there was no alcohol in Boston's system."Having dared to be blasphemous of the hero of this Boston love-in thread the other day, I thought I'd check in to see how the Pro Bowl upside's doing lately.
Ruh roh.
i fell hard and fast for the "Boston in August" charade last year, I passed this time.Edited to say: who is full of more BS enthusiasm: Jon Gruden or Herm EdwardsGiven that Boston immediately offered to do a blood test, I think it's pretty unlikely that he's on any illegal substances. My guess is the siesta was due to his psycho diet / workout regimen.Good luck with that. This is what's been reported for the last couple of weeks. Nothing new to see here, move along.gianmarco said:Ruh roh.
"Maurice Stovall is listed as the Buccaneers' starting flanker on their most updated depth chart.
Impact: The depth chart is so up to date that even Jeremiah Trotter, whose signing the team announced Tuesday, is on it. The Bucs will use a committee at flanker to start the season, but Stovall is the favorite to see the most snaps."
I can bold stuff too. If you want to selectively read things, then go ahead. I know what's been reported as I own Boston in 6 of 6 leagues. But having Stovall listed as the starter isn't as comforting and I've been hearing more things about Stovall and his play than Boston of late. Ignore the info and move along if you like. This is what's been reported for the last couple of weeks. Nothing new to see here, move along.gianmarco said:Ruh roh.

I have Boston as well. Don't give up hope yet, I think he'll emerge. We know he has an abundance of talent, and the cream will rise to the top. Even if he doesn't start right away, if his strong play of the preseason continues, he'll get his. I'm sure he's stashed on your benches, be patient.I can bold stuff too. Not giving up. He's no more than a WR5 in any league but I've got room for him. But still need to be aware of what's being reported. Has anyone else heard this?Looking for a link: But I'm hearing Garcia is campaigning to have Boston in the lineup as the #2 guy, because he has confidence in him, and not Stovall. Either way, the team has a horrible first 5 games, so it'll bear watching, but none of these guy are worth starting yet.

David Boston-WR-Buccaneers Sep. 6 - 3:19 pm et
The Pinellas Park police department announced Thursday that DUI charges against Bucs WR David Boston will be pursued.
Police didn't release the results of Boston's urine sample (he passed his breathalyzer test), but it seems likely that the results came back positive for an illegal substance. Boston was found asleep at the wheel of his car in the middle of the street with the engine running on August 23.

They will have to release the tests in court, and then explain how the NFL tests didn't reveal what the Police tests did, and WHY the police tests didn't reveal anything at first, and took longer than expected to reveal anything. This is like the Duke lacrosse case. The police and DA are looking for anything to nail this guy on. The next charge will be driving without a seatbelt on.David Boston-WR-Buccaneers Sep. 6 - 3:19 pm et
